- Paolo Nutini is a super relaxed artist - he also does carpentry against his stage fright. Interesting, right? He also tells us why he smokes pot.

His music is incredible.
I dont get it why people dont understand why he isnt looking into her eyes
I do that all the time, it's because it's easier to answer a question and give a more honest opinion, if he's looking at her, he'll be distracted and wont be able to give a proper response
Its way easier crystalizing your opinion inside of your head, its a sign of self-knowledge and intellect IMHO
Exactly!!
He’s THINKING about what he’s saying rather than just being cool for the interview. That’s what i like about him
haha, you don't get why he never ever ever looks at her, while they have a conversation?
He is one stoned mofo who likely suffers from anxiety and other demons like we all do. But he is a remarkable awesome artist who has been in my top 5 list since he came out!! It doesn't matter whether he looks in her eyes or not! It's all about his VOICE! and his music. He is the most modest artists I have ever came across. Keep it up Paolo you are AWESOME!
I'll bet Paolo is super relaxed, open, and funny when he's with people close to him. But I've noticed after watching a NUMBER of interviews with him, that he has a difficult time making eye contact with interviewers; especially female interviewers. He's so sweet and reserved. I love him. I hope someone on his management team starts grooming him, and helping him to mature a bit on doing interviews and public appearances. He's such a gem of a guy. I wish I could just give him lots and lots of hugs....his music is pure GOLD.
if he was groomed into doing this stuff you mention he wouldnt be him. he is how he is and look how creative he is for it. forget eye contact
eye contact is intimate. some people are not happy with that level of intimacy with strangers. he's clearly quite shy. he is an artist. i don't want some polished, edges taken off corporate slime, that would be contrary to everything he is and stands for.
I noticed that he doesn't make much eye contact too. I have a feeling (and hey it's just me Vibing not an opinion set in stone) but I think that it's because of a combination of reasons : (1) eye contact means connecting to him so he saves that for those he's genuinely connected with or to, on a 'spiritual level' (2) he picks up on people's vibes and body languages, including micro expressions so he saves both himself and the person interviewing him that awkward feeling he could get when reading their body language or tone of voice and (3) he's self conscious but not in a bad way. All round a guy who I believe will make those close to him laugh with his funny jokes which I'm guessing would have a unique twist and also he's very caring about those who he let's into his selective circle. Maybe he's an INFJ too. I also suspect that he's a pretty good judge of character while being able to understand the reasons why there are goods n bads i' what any given person does. Simply he sees the world as or is and has a set of core values which he tends to stick to.
he is still young, shy, modest, lacking confidence in his "star role" …. hence the reason why he is not looking in her eyes… quite, non-arrogant if you ask me. Typical Scottish gentleman.
We think so too Colette McKee - perfectly said :)
Still, how would You feel while taking to someone with no eye contact?
Shy. Nothing wrong with that, don’t let people tell you different.

He was looking at her......with his third eye! ❤ Paulo
I remember Tom Petty saying that if you don't get nervous before going on stage there's something not wired up right in you. And that it's the best rush of adrenaline you can have. So as Paolo says, so long as it doesn't paralyse you, just ride the adrenaline.
I found growing up in a similar area to Paolo in Scotland eye contact isn't really forced, its not really part of the conversational etiquette so to speak. I struggle with eye contact because im autistic but i can force it, but again in paolo's defense it is partially a cultural thing, its seen as intimidation up here in some parts and i see what Paolo's doing as just polite in his eyes.
that's interesting to know thanks 😊
Nice honest guy, with an amazing talent 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙌💝
I love how easy going he is! Great interview, love the feeling of a connection between the interviewer and Paolo.
Thx a lot :) We loved that too! And as you said - Paolo and Sarah (our host) got a long really well
I'm jealous she got to meet him, also she's hecka pretty! New subscriber now, cheers!
aww thx Logan Michaelis :) We will tell Sarah that immediately!!
Logan Michaelis Connection without eye contact?!? That's a bit rich!
What's so wrong with avoiding eye contact?! I never make eye contact because of my social anxiety. It doesn't mean I'm being disrespectful or anything.
Harlen Helen It comes off that way, and that's all the really matters.
+Noah McDaniel no it doesn't...
Kaj Sjöqvist It does come off that way. At the least, it can.
It can, but it doesn't really matter. That was my point. Don't mean any offence
Kaj Sjöqvist I would say that the way you come off is pretty important if you care about your own success. Sure, you can blame society, but unless you plan to change society's perspective, you will fall victim to it.
The interviewer girl SO fancies Paolo! 😂 Is it any wonder!
girl me too!!
Very cool 😎
i love it :) he's such a modest man it seems :) i would love to interview him myself. but i think in that situation i'd need a funky cigarette or 2 to get over the star strucknes i'd have if i was actually talking to him. seems like a very nice guy ^_^
thank you ***** :) It was such a pleasure to interview him and it was a super easy-going interview...he is really, really nice
ES LO MAS GUAPO K HE CONOCIDO!!!!
What a voice he has not really bothered about if he is looking into her eyes or not
i,m suprised eveyone is commenting on his eye contact rather than his amazing interveiw..but i personally think the fact that she has her legs spread at him might be putting him looking her at her..it would make me uncomphy if i was a man?it,s bad manners on her part...but he does try and face the camera in interveiws rather than the interveiwer..and anyway, maybe is just shy..who cares,he is amazing!!! i love him,i can imagine him singing while he is whitteling..bless himxx
💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
I think the reason he's not looking at her is because the one of the cameras is right behind her. He seems to be looking off in a direction where there's no camera, probably just to focus on answering the questions. It's kind of distracting having 3 or 4 cameras up in your face.
This could certainly be one of the reasons jumeau1
Jumeau it's nice reading your comment. You took the time to try and understand. 😊
Very accurate from experience!
Maybe he doesn't want to look at her daft hat
😅😅😅
Very talented. Wish he would spend time in the States. A master producer would take this talented man to the next level. He's absolutely brilliant.
I fundamentally disagree with your statement. I wouldn't wish that upon him, and I'm American myself.
@@mave143 You sure did take your own sweet time to fundamentally disagree with my post. That was three years ago. But I still stand my statement. The Scot would benefit from American producers. Keep in mind he hasn't put out anything substantial in years.
@@RoughRider757 he released an album last year.
@@mave143 Wow I never knew.
He is a little nervous socially i think,or maybe just insecure or surprised still at his popularity.
Who cares Love you Paolo.Saw him recently at Castlefield bowl,Manchester,AMAZING!!!!!!!!
He look her in her eyes at the end of the interview 5/6
Isn't he not looking at her cos there's a cameraman holding a camera in front of him? Like he's looking at that camera and not at the side camera that's on the interviewer
He does look her in the eye. Did you not watch the whole thing?
I think he looks really uncomfortable in this. People are saying about eye contact but she is sat so close to him.
my top 5 IN ORDER KATE BUSH , TEXAS, PAULO,MIDGE, ANNIE LENNOX.
If you want a laugh, turn on the youtube subtitles. It's like an instruction manual translated from Japanese to English. =D
I’m watching this stoned
ayyye me too

@@Harveygregorxotwod boy you proposed last time ya got stoned 😂
@@mave143 ahahahahahahah that’s funny
I'm new to him and his music. Thank social media or he would still he a unknown to me. An artist can create a huge and loyal fan base through social media, so he or someone on his team should get familiar. Also, at first I thought he might be blind or have some kind of vision handicap (being sincere) because he never looks at this girl that is interviewing him. He looks straight ahead, I'm not all the way through the interview but so far he hasn't made eye contact which if you think about it, is horrible.
Paolo Nutini is an amazing artist! You will love his music :) He might be a bit shy...but we can assure you - after the interview he had eye contact with your host Sarah :) Have you checked out his live performance?
ua-cam.com/video/_qhzb2-6ZQM/v-deo.html
Stars at joiz I have and your right he is a great artist. I can understand being shy, it often is misread as something else. I should of known better because like I said I am new to his music.
No worries ***** :) It is good to hear that you enjoy his music
I think he's not making eye contact because he can tell she's into him, and he's trying to not seduce her, as I think this was about the time that Paolo was dating Amber Anderson.
He's a great singer, but geez, maybe if he looked at the interviewer it might help!
not sure why he's not looking her in the eyes
Maybe he tried to stay focused :P
a lot of people (myself included) find it far easier to listen and focus and think of what you *actually* want to say in reply to a question when they are not holding eye contact. (A lot of other cultures actually support this as well, btw) He's quite obviously looking inwardly to form his answers. Nothing wrong with that IMO, and better than forced 'charm' when you're not feeling it. The interview was fine whatever... let him be! ;-)
giseerouchon im the same too
He's not looking in her eyes bc he's prolly high af
You nailed it. He’s high enough that her face would bug him out. Even though she’s very beautiful. He is focusing on his thoughts, her questions, and his answers
The only thing that annoys me about this interview is that he never looks her in the eyes. Other than that it's a good interview.
Paolo seems to be a bit shy ;)
Think he was tired or hungover? Interviewer was very relaxed with him. Not easy to relax with a tv camera in your face, i can assure you.
That girl is cute as hell
haha its so funny he wont even look at her :P !
I bet he'd look her in the eyes if she pulled out the papers
..or too much weed!
Pot ruins artists talent. Sad. Paola had such promise.
Heroin ruins talent. Let's not be dramatic.
Its' repectful to look at the person you're talking too..We were taught that early in our yrs Granted he's shy..but every now at then he could look at her.. Unless of course he likes her hehehe..then there's no way he would ... Maybe thats it..
It's only respectful in some cultures- in others it's downright rude. A lot of people have problems with holding eye contact- why does it have to be a big deal?
Sarah I think he does at the end of this segment and in the next one when he is talking about the paper who called him paolo fatini and how he stuck up a image of rocky to get fit...I think once he is made feel comfortable he looks more at her..I think overall. .imo
in my culture it is rude not to make eye contact. it means you have something to hide.. and who said it was a big deal?.. i just made an honest statement as i see it
I think it's far more respectful to be understanding than to give someone eye contact. So many people have aced the ability to converse using eye contact without truly respecting or worse yet understanding their listener. People who feel understood see that and make contact. Not that he didn't feel respected or understood in this interview but for us, we the viewers, it couldn't hurt to extend some understanding to a man who none of us know. All we know is some of his music and that he's extremely talented and gifted and d'you know what sometimes that's enough.
A depressed guy who doesn't look at people in their eyes!
Why depressed? Didn't seem that way to me- just thoughtful..
Not depressed maybe just fed up doing interviews time after time.
