Pretty wild to think that Tom Landry, Vince Lombardi and Bill Belichick were all coordinators with the Giants but all of them had to go elsewhere to get their first head coaching job.
To be fair, all those coaches went to shitty or new teams and made them the best (Landry to new Dallas franchise, Lombardi to GB which was nothing up to that point, and BB going to NE, and Cleveland before)
@@ThePumasboy300 That's kind of my point though. You give Belichick the '91 Giants and he still might be coaching there (of course some of that had to do with Parcells retiring after Belichick took the Browns job). I do understand that the Giants were a a championship contender in the late '50's and early '60's but if they hired either one of Lombardi or Landry during that time frame instead of letting them go to Green Bay and Dallas they most likely would not have struggled so bad from 1964 until the 1980's. My comment was mostly an observation and not a critique of the Giants because it would've been difficult to replace Howell at that point when he had already won an NFL championship and appeared in 2 more. Although the Giants did replace Howell after the 1960 season both Lombardi and Landry were already gone so it was bad timing on their part. I will say that I don't think it was coincidence that once both Lombardi and Landry were gone that the Giants went from 9-3 in 1958 (Lombardi's last year with the Gants) to 10-2 in 1959 (Landry's last year with the Giants) to 6-4-2 in 1960, and missing the playoffs.

You start making the playlist and realize you can't stop adding "just one more." In my opinion, it's impossible to make a definitive list of the best NFL players and coaches. Don't get me wrong, I loved this series and agree with a lot of it. Good stuff!
What most people dont know about Bill is that he was raised by, not just a massive football fan, but a great football mind! As a kid he looked up to the Navy football players, and at an early age he fell in love with the game just like his father. Its an amazing story that his father, whom even played in the NFL briefly, raised one of the best football minds of the last 50 years!
Wow, love to see bill open up here. Have to respect his talent and his commitment to the sport in its entirety. True embodiment of football, and thats coming from a Bills fan who has many reasons to hate him.
The coaches listed are all justified. I would add one more with John Madden. Highest win percentage of any coach ever, also the youngest Super Bowl champion. Changed the game of football forever. Greatest promoter of the game. Commentary and the video game.
Nah Bill is the GOAT and it's hard to argue otherwise considering he holds every major coaching record aside from all time wins and he's on pace to break that before he retires.

And additionally the top 10 passing offenses have all been inside the modern era i.e. since the year 2000, and also outside the teams you made a reference to. So please you complete dumbfuck keep telling me how ignorant I am about the defenses throughout the history of the NFL
1-800-Wavy not all players have cte... also what does that have to do with anything. I’m comparing it to chess because it’s much more than just throwing or running a ball, there’s tons of people on each sideline that everyone ignores but they’re the ones making up the plays and adjusting as the game goes on to try and catch the opposing team off guard🤦🏽♂️
Bill Belichick is a football savant, growing up when the Baltimore Colts had good to exceptional teams. Exceptional knowledge of the game, the players and contributors to the game. Amazing he got to coach Lawrence Taylor, Tom Brady, and Rob Gronkowski. Also remarkable that he worked under Bill Parcells.
I love the fact that Bill and Tom are right next to each other on the wall. I bet it goes up just like that in the hall of fame. On that wall... they'll be together forever.
Maybe the first positive comment about Chris in this whole thread and I'm with you 100% man. I hear that voice and I think football. I like him and the fact that others don't, makes me like him even more.
A lot of people forgot that Belichick was in the coaching staff of the giants. He won 2 Super Bowls with them. A lot of people think he only has 6 rings
Because he's humble. Belichick is the unquestionable GOAT, he leads in every single major coaching statistic except for all time wins and he's on pace to break that.
Lifelong Cowboys fan and Tom Landry held the Cowboys back. He took 2 years to start Staubach and that cost them a SB win. He wouldn't let Staubach play his game. He was innovative but he was a micromanager as a head coach. That cost them SB's.
I completely agree with you. This might be a controversial opinion. But if I were to rank every one of these coaches. I would put Joe Gibbs ahead of Landry.
Y’all can say that he can’t win without Brady and cheated all u want but at the end of the day, the numbers don’t lie. He’s the greatest coach in NFL history. He doesn’t need to win a SB without Brady to prove it, and this is coming from a Dolphins fan.
He's an All-Time Great for sure and deserves to be on this list, but I agree with him that Paul Brown is the Greatest Coach! The man was first to use radio in the helmets and the NFL banned them for decades after, he was the 1st to use scouting and tape to review! Man was such an innovator.
Gotta say, I know he only won one SB, but I was really expecting Parcells to be in there somewhere. And was also so interesting/surprising to hear Belichek say Paul Brown was the greatest coach in the history of the entire League. Pretty cool.
I know they didnt make it but in my life time i think of Marv Levy, Marty Shottenheimer, Mike Holmgren, Andy Reid, Mike Tomlin, Tony Dungy, Tom Coughlin, Bill Parcells as great coaches
Bill never ceases to surprise me. Probably the best coach ever. And now he has emotions???? I’ve seen the man blank stare after winning the last 3 Super Bowl. Not even a smile. I just thought he was AI generated or something
All do respect to all of these legendary men, but there's mountains of evidence to show that the football we see executed today was first orchestrated by Bill Walsh. A master of the short to intermediate game, occasionally could hurt you deep, and utilized running backs, fullbacks, tight ends in ways that no other coach had thought to do before. So when you see all these incredible athletes at non traditional positions running a myriad of routes, just remember that the originator of that level of creativity was William Ernest Walsh
@MadMax™ Paul Brown had Bill Walsh send in the plays he wanted, and used Bill for his genius. Then, when it came time to promote Bill, he instead hired someone else, and bad mouthed him to the rest of the league so much that he had to go coach at Stanford, which is where he showed his plays, his system worked in any environment. Eddie DeBartolo saw his talent, and gave him full control of the roster/coaching decisions. I'll say again, there have been MANY great coaches in this league, but modern football as we see it today with the variety of players used as receivers, and the mastery of the short to intermediate passing game were things that Bill Walsh originated. Several great former coaches have said this, from Mike Holmgren, Bill Belichick, Brian Billick, Andy Reid, and the list goes on.
Three of the four guys you mentioned at the end are even part of Bill Walsh's coaching tree. Mike Holmgren was Bill Walsh's understudy, Andy Reid got his start under Mike Holmgren and Brian Billick was an understudy of another one of Bill Walsh's understudies Dennis Green.
The Bears could really use george halas RN but George Halas is the greatest coach of all time i mean he is the only man lombardi calls coach and he made the daily training and made the bears a dynasty and if he was given the amount tools modern coaches today have there is no question his all time wins mark would be unbreakable
It is unfortunate that the only thing keeping Dan Reeves from similar conversations is a lack of SB titles as a coach. He found success everywhere he went, but when his teams reached the biggest stage they fell short.
@@notoriouseagle1074That is probably the best possible comparison. He played with/for legends at Dallas and won two titles as a player, and found playoff success everywhere except for at that highest level as a coach
Bill has commentary skills and presence if he ever wants to do broadcasting as a secibd career. In the meantime, he needs to figure out how to keep the Patriots afloat until they can move on after Tom.
@@brianhildreth9099 Agreed. The pats haven't had the best players especially the last 2 years but the coaching alone i think makes them contenders in the future.
If anyone ever deserved to be in the same sentence as Lombardi, it’s Bill. They both had the extremely rare ability to be great football strategists and great psychologists.
I think George Halas could be mentioned here. 6 NFL championship wins, cofounder of the NFL, and charter member of the Hall Of Fame during his time with the Bears.
Believe it or not, Paul Brown and Tom Landry are the fathers of the modern game as we know it. Paul is the 1st father, and Tom is the second. Everything coaches do has their mark. Yes others have contributed. But those two, made the MODERN NFL.

So please you complete dumbfuck keep telling me how ignorant I am about the defenses throughout the history of the NFL
Don’t sleep on Shula tho...
13:28 BB engages press conference mumble mode
ANY other situation, is an unbelievable chatter box 🤣🤣🤣
Man this was so epic.
Football: the toughest, most unique, and the BEST sport on planet Earth.
Yeh European football. Its facts.
Nutelko8 eh. Soccer is okay but it doesn’t match American Football
Nutelko8 soccer is for fairies. This is chess with humans
@@Nutelko8 eh,,like what you want
1-800-Wavy not all players have cte... also what does that have to do with anything. I’m comparing it to chess because it’s much more than just throwing or running a ball, there’s tons of people on each sideline that everyone ignores but they’re the ones making up the plays and adjusting as the game goes on to try and catch the opposing team off guard🤦🏽♂️
BB: "You can't win a war by digging a hole"
WW1: "Am I a joke to you?"
Hahahahahahha
Bill quoting the Art of War is incredible
Bill is most definitely a Football Savant & Historian. Without a doubt.
Thank you for posting this video, for I enjoyed watching it !
5:05 “hi fellas” 🤣🤣🤣
As a Colts fan the fact that Bill grew up in Indy and caused us that much pain is so hurtful 😭
Annapolis not Indianapolis. His dad was a coach at the Naval Academy in Annapolis Maryland.
@@allobove7798he was still a colts fan though, which makes it funny
I love the fact that Bill and Tom are right next to each other on the wall. I bet it goes up just like that in the hall of fame. On that wall... they'll be together forever.
Anyone else just love how familiar and recognizable Chris's voice is
Maybe the first positive comment about Chris in this whole thread and I'm with you 100% man. I hear that voice and I think football. I like him and the fact that others don't, makes me like him even more.
I got chills when Bill mentioned Sun Tzu
I hope that Shula’s record never gets broken
Bill won’t retire til he breaks it
How many wins is Belichick on
@@blazer7731 Bill has 279, halas has 318, and Shula has 328. So essentially 5 more seasons of at least 10 wins
Belichick is on pace to break it.
Bill might get 11 or 12 this year.
Chuck Knox deserves to be on the list. He took 3 different teams to the playoffs. Rams, Bills, & Seahawks. First coach to do such a thing.
Definitely impressive but the lack of postseason success hurts him a lot
Rest in peace coach Don Shula
A lot of people forgot that Belichick was in the coaching staff of the giants. He won 2 Super Bowls with them. A lot of people think he only has 6 rings
He's been involved in every single Giants' Super Bowl win.
Who the hell forgot that?? I mean what hardcore NFL doesnt know that?
Vince Lombardi said it before Ricky Bobby now that's legendary "if your not first ur last "
Drew Pearson
He was all in, every single Game!
Even Belichick even admits that Paul Brown is the greatest coach of all time.
Because he's humble. Belichick is the unquestionable GOAT, he leads in every single major coaching statistic except for all time wins and he's on pace to break that.
@@slimbrady6691 that's bc he had Brady but he's definitely the 🐐 coach!!
I wish they did GMs because Ozzie is amazing.
If they do all time owners, they better not put Irsay OR MODELL!
Gm never got an official title of gm til 2000
Lifelong Cowboys fan and Tom Landry held the Cowboys back. He took 2 years to start Staubach and that cost them a SB win. He wouldn't let Staubach play his game. He was innovative but he was a micromanager as a head coach. That cost them SB's.
I completely agree with you. This might be a controversial opinion. But if I were to rank every one of these coaches. I would put Joe Gibbs ahead of Landry.
*John madden has left the chat*
Lombardi was incredible thus, BB being the modern VL is spot on.
The game has done a lot of evolving, and a lot of devolving; but it has always been captivating each step
Gotta say, I know he only won one SB, but I was really expecting Parcells to be in there somewhere. And was also so interesting/surprising to hear Belichek say Paul Brown was the greatest coach in the history of the entire League. Pretty cool.
Tuna won 2
He won 2, Super Bowl XXI & XXV with the Giants
I know they didnt make it but in my life time i think of Marv Levy, Marty Shottenheimer, Mike Holmgren, Andy Reid, Mike Tomlin, Tony Dungy, Tom Coughlin, Bill Parcells as great coaches
Bill never ceases to surprise me. Probably the best coach ever. And now he has emotions???? I’ve seen the man blank stare after winning the last 3 Super Bowl. Not even a smile. I just thought he was AI generated or something
There is no human being walking this Earth that knows more about football history than Bill Belichick
Larry just zoned out whilst looking at Rice lol
Imagine being the guy that BB says is the greatest coach in the history of the NFL.
Love seeing Bill talking about Papa Bear Halas.
The Bears could really use george halas RN but George Halas is the greatest coach of all time i mean he is the only man lombardi calls coach and he made the daily training and made the bears a dynasty and if he was given the amount tools modern coaches today have there is no question his all time wins mark would be unbreakable
This is the only list that I pretty much agree with 100%. My only complaint is that there was not enough space for Bill Parcells.
I believe this, punter, safety, and center were the only ones I matched perfectly with.
I also feel that dungy and cowher should have been on this list
10:15 Anthony Muñoz is starring in complete disbelief at Belichick
THIS! this is the only comment I've seen addressing that. Even football legends are stunned at Bills knowledge of the game.
It is unfortunate that the only thing keeping Dan Reeves from similar conversations is a lack of SB titles as a coach. He found success everywhere he went, but when his teams reached the biggest stage they fell short.
Dusty Baker of the NFL.
The Bills just crushed them in the Wild Card Game, but I'm all in on this Mac Jones led squad. Future looks great.
@@brianhildreth9099 Agreed. The pats haven't had the best players especially the last 2 years but the coaching alone i think makes them contenders in the future.
Y’all forgot Bud Grant, most underrated coach of all time
If anyone ever deserved to be in the same sentence as Lombardi, it’s Bill. They both had the extremely rare ability to be great football strategists and great psychologists.
You're The Greatest Of All Time Yourself Mr McMahon Just Like Bill Belichick!
I think George Halas could be mentioned here. 6 NFL championship wins, cofounder of the NFL, and charter member of the Hall Of Fame during his time with the Bears.
So is Bill reading or is he just some sort of genius when it comes to anything related to the NFL 😂
Genius
Jimmy Johnson?
had heard of brown but didn't know much about him, ty for the education
Believe it or not, Paul Brown and Tom Landry are the fathers of the modern game as we know it. Paul is the 1st father, and Tom is the second. Everything coaches do has their mark. Yes others have contributed. But those two, made the MODERN NFL.
