Nothing better than an R Model Mack. My father worked for Mack Trucks for years. Starting on the assembly line in Allentown Pa. and ended up in the World Headquarters in Allentown. So glad you’re keeping that beautiful truck alive. Keep up the great work both of you. 👍
Hi folks and thanks for the video!! Pretty cool 'new' Mack! It doesn't need much to finish it off and I will look forward to your progress on it. It would be nice to find software that would let you try different colours to see how they look before you start splashing paint on it! Definitely need to get the fifth wheel, air and electrical connections working! Nice to see Gavin - he is a cool, friendly guy!! Have a great week! 😀
I have the guards on my straight pipe. Great you are using the old school machines. They do as good a job as any new rigs. Always will too. Great job you two. My 72 Hayes Clipper Anniversary ex logger is still a year away from finished. The Mack Superliner is waiting patiently thanks for all your hard work editing these posts in your busy farming schedules eh
For the steps off the the frame, I personally like 18 " wide , add quarter fenders with the rubber piece on top say MACK, what ever color cab is going to be, the MACK name on the steer wheels highlight them .
That's going to be a unique looking truck - a stretch wheelbase single axle tractor! Bedbug haulers were mostly single axle, and there's room on the frame for a shiny Mercury sleeper behind the cab. And the colors are close enough to be a Leaser for Atlas Van Lines. I would say if you were going to keep it on the farm, put an oil tank on it with a meter pump for refueling equipment out in the field.
So cool that you post videos about Mack Trucks. We had an 85 Superliner with the 500V8 and a 79 R model. We grow mostly wheat, canola, barley up here in Saskatchewan.
My dad bought a ‘84 brand new. Still remember the night he brought it home. Was -20 below outside. Had it in a wood stove shop and I’m pretty sure he was feeding the stove all night so it would fire up easy in the morning!
Quite the beautiful truck! Sounds like you two have some great ideas for it! Like the idea of a black metallic paint scheme... One of the best things of any restoration project you can try different ideas and see if it works or not. Gavin's idea of a black metallic steering wheel will bring a great touch to the inside. Chrome/Aluminum wheels would accent the metallic in the paint... Best of luck on your project! Hope you show us updates!
That truck is from nh the sticker on the vent window is manchester mack. The mack dealer in NH. And that paint scheme looks like jhonny prescotts oil in concord nh. They are a fuel delivery company and has always been a mack loyal company.
There's a difference between a show truck and a museum truck. I love seeing these old work horses with period correct personal touches. This truck may not have the most chrome or lights but is has class. And thats something you can't buy from the Chrome Shop Mafia
That interior is like a time capsule! It looks nice! 5 speed Mack’s are easy to shift you just have to shift slower between gears and let the rpm’s drop. A lot more gap between gears than you 9 speed.
Beautiful old truck. Someone's already done a very nice job of starting the restoration. I like the metal flake black over the blue. I think it'll look sharp. Might be kinda cool to see if you can learn a little about what the truck did in its life and incorporate a nod toward that in the restoration somehow. Could be as simple as a small plaque somewhere or maybe nod to it in the hand painted stuff Gavin was suggesting for the door? Just a thought. Looking forward to this. Have fun with it! Take care.
You probably got a damn good man there….I’ve met a lot of folks from KY and always been really impressed on just how damn chill they are, It’s seriously next level.
I have a 1974 Westerliner COE with 300 Hp maxidine with a 5 speed No power steering and tamden axles with camel hump suspension and trans you can only put it in first gear first and you rip it in and it goes right in then you can go to reverse if that is what you want. I broke clutch cable with a full load of soybeans and still drove it to the elevator and it was a challenge to get off the scaled fully loaded empty was easer.
That’s so cool a truck brought y’all together. Smooth move sir, you got a great lady there. I can’t wait to see what you guys do to it. As a Gen X guy who grew up around trucks in Maine and has been a full time driver for 30 years Mack’s were always very popular. If you’ve not heard of them look up Dirigo restorations in Maine. They have a gorgeous collection of trucks and we’re at one time one of the leading Mack restoration guys anywhere. Peterbilt Legendary black would look great on that. It’s got a ton of sparkle in it. I also agree on the pinstripe, that’s almost a must on an old Mack. Absolutely color match the steering wheel
Need to put the later model rectangle head lights in it. It's a easy fix the later model head light bucket bolts right in and you only need to square up the round openings in the hood. A really nice look. I have them in my r model .
Sweet truck! We have 3 R model Mack trucks. A 76 two stick 6 speed 300 Mack engine, an 80 with a super 10 and a 350 Mack engine, and an 86 with a 9 speed and 300 Mack engine. Toughest trucks made! 👍
I use to run a load of soda from Westboro, Massachusetts to Florence, New Jersey in a tandem axle 5speed R-Model Maxidyne, Nothing is like a classic Mack it's a sweet truck.
Hello , Very nice video. I learned how to drive semis in a DM model hook to an asphalt tanker in Colombia, South America. Came with 237 engine Maxidyne, 5 Speed Maxi torque transmission, and Mack Dual axle, dual reduction with Camel suspension 46000 pounds. Very very Reliable truck. One time we loaded with 110000 pounds total going up the Hill called " La Linea" over 12000 feet high. Great machines! Thanks for video.
Don't know what to say, I never thought there would be a women who had AC, Dodge and Mack, the guys at Macungie are great, they have helped me with wiring diagrams 👍👍👍👍👍
@Farmer_Grayces yes Grayce, I am blown away, you also do a nice job of shifting the Mack too, It is good you and your boyfriend share the love of Mack, my wife Deb and I had a get away weekend and I took her to the Macungie Plant to tour the Mack factory, that was 25 years ago 😀, the American truck historical society convention is in York PA. June 6-8 , there will be lots of Mack's 👍 and other trucks
I would Paint it midnight blue with flakes with matching rims instead of black. The Mack and chrome will stick out better. Add duel Hanley Airhorns on the roof too :)
Late watching the video Grayce. Nice looking old Mack. Shame it's not a twin screw. 5 speed maxidine same gear pattern as a M or H Farmall tractor. Can't wait to see it finished. Tough old trucks.
I’m so looking for an 82 to 85 western star for the same idea. Father son project. You just do see them down south in good shape like a Mack. Have fun if you see a star let me know lol
That’s a very tidy old Mack. A black diamond Pearl steering wheel from PearlCraft here in Australia would look awesome if you go with a black flake paint job 👌🏻
I totally agree with Gracie. Go with that raincap the startup Will make it sound like a beast. Looking forward to the finished product. The two of 7:50 you working together it's gonna be beautiful.😊
My suggestion is to get a set of twin screw differentials so that you could pull grain trailers and low beds, then keep it. If you guys get hitched, take it on your honeymoon!
Paint the cab Patriot Blue, it's dark blue with a lot of pearl and do the inside the same, you'll find the code in Dodge factory colors. when the sun hits it it really dances!!!
I like the idea of the old school lettering on the side. There is a guy outside of Knoxville who does old school custom lettering named Ricky Wright. He has a UA-cam channel just search his name.

Nothing better than an R Model Mack. My father worked for Mack Trucks for years. Starting on the assembly line in Allentown Pa. and ended up in the World Headquarters in Allentown. So glad you’re keeping that beautiful truck alive. Keep up the great work both of you. 👍
Please leave it the way it is. Love it. I started my truck driving career on a 1965 B61 Mack Twin Stick in 1979.
The blue and white is spot on!
Can't believe how clean and original the interior is. What a great find.
Grace, your smile is awesome - it show your great personality, excitement and the fun that you were having.
Could not have said it better.
Brings back a lot of memories. Those R model 5 speeds were practically indestructible.
Hi folks and thanks for the video!! Pretty cool 'new' Mack! It doesn't need much to finish it off and I will look forward to your progress on it. Excellent choice of colors. My favorite truck of all time!!!!
Gavin seems to have things figured out.”Yes Dear that’s fine “ saves a lot of time!
Cool truck ,enjoyed the video
took me 62 yrs to figure out thats the only way to get the last word in.
beautiful truck and it makes my heart smile that you are happy
Hi Grayce and Gavin. You look so happy driving the Mack.
Beautiful R Model. Very clean.
I have the guards on my straight pipe. Great you are using the old school machines. They do as good a job as any new rigs. Always will too. Great job you two. Great project, can’t wait to follow along on this with a great couple.
Macks are my favorite trucks. I really like the B Models.
Don’t ever stop double clutching!
Old Mack’s deserve the respect and effort.
I disagree. Learn to sync those gears!
Lol
Float shifting for sure
Double clutch or float 5 main float 3 auxiliary only B 61 Mack Feel your gear on your main when you float
Never double clutched . Ran 5x4 , and quad
Ref pinstripes n lettering, hotrodjen is awesome at what she does, shes a real talent whos channel deserves a boost. 👍🇬🇧👍
I live about 30 minutes from the museum so that'll be cool to see when it gets there
The truck is beautiful. It’s good to see you so happy 😊
Beautiful R Model. Very clean.
Looks like a fantastic old truck, and I think you guys will fix it up real nice! You too make a fantastic couple!!
For the steps off the the frame, I personally like 18 " wide , add quarter fenders with the rubber piece on top say MACK, what ever color cab is going to be, the MACK name on the steer wheels highlight them .
You guys are DEEP in on the Mack’s. Respect.

I would say if you were going to keep it on the farm, put an oil tank on it with a meter pump for refueling equipment out in the field.
I wouldn't change a thing about it I think it's awesome just like it is.
OH THE MEMORIES!!, THAT SOUND !! just love it

I love that Allis in the background

Just think, this will be one of a kind when it's done! Definitely be a great addition to the Mack Museum!
That truck is from nh the sticker on the vent window is manchester mack. The mack dealer in NH. And that paint scheme looks like jhonny prescotts oil in concord nh. They are a fuel delivery company and has always been a mack loyal company.
Knowing that’s going to a museum I would restore it to as close to original as possible.
There's a difference between a show truck and a museum truck. I love seeing these old work horses with period correct personal touches. This truck may not have the most chrome or lights but is has class. And thats something you can't buy from the Chrome Shop Mafia

This truck rocks!!!!! You guys are awesome!!!!
This video does my heart good! I can't wait to see more.
Your doing great job on the Mark to restore it. Paint like light black and metal flakes. White pin strip. Wheels white on outside black inside
That’s so cool a truck brought y’all together. Smooth move sir, you got a great lady there.

Watching Gavin drive reminded me of the years I spent with the window crank digging a hole in my leg lol
The Bulldog! Awesome truck. R model is one of my favorites!
You two are great together!
Chemistry is definitely there.
Need to put the later model rectangle head lights in it. It's a easy fix the later model head light bucket bolts right in and you only need to square up the round openings in the hood. A really nice look. I have them in my r model .
It looks awesome the way it is!! I have a 1965 C600 Mack (the predecessor to the R Model). It is all Mack with a Duplex and single axle!
Sweet truck! We have 3 R model Mack trucks. A 76 two stick 6 speed 300 Mack engine, an 80 with a super 10 and a 350 Mack engine, and an 86 with a 9 speed and 300 Mack engine. Toughest trucks made! 👍

I love Old Iron, especially with the Bull Dog on the hood.
I like the truck with that color scheme.
I love the Mack! Our first Mack was an 84, hauled a lot of heavy equipment with it! Went all Mack for our lowboys after the 84.
Absolutely love the old Mack
Hello , Very nice video. I learned how to drive semis in a DM model hook to an asphalt tanker in Colombia, South America. Came with 237 engine Maxidyne, 5 Speed Maxi torque transmission, and Mack

Great machines!
Thanks for video.
Being that I am a Western Star Service Rep, this is a nice Bull Dog. You both are so awesome.
The last Mack I drove was a 10 speed with 2 shift levers and you had to double clutch. That truck looks nice!
I just hope we get to see the finished product!
Rain caps always.. thank you for not calling it a "flapper"
The flapper is below your nose😂
Don't know what to say, I never thought there would be a women who had AC, Dodge and Mack, the guys at Macungie are great, they have helped me with wiring diagrams 👍👍👍👍👍

Very cool Project, Love Mack Trucks especially the R Models.

NO DEF, NO DPF, NO EGR, just old school AMERICAN POWER!!!!!!
Hi all im from Ontario Canada love the videos
5 speed is the easiest to shift. My favorite mack trans. Love your channel.
This was fun to watch 😂😂😂, good luck on your journey with this rig!
Keep it original!
The color is nice. Pinstripe the edges where the colors meet. I have to add that if you want to double clutch go for it.
Gracye is back with another video... Gracye is baaaaaack.. I so happy. Doh! Noice shades, btw.
Sweet ole truck please don't spoil it, Grace 😉
Love you guys. Stay happy ❤
That truck is beautiful. It must be so fun driving that beast.
It is! I took it for a joyride yesterday!
You have a Mack going to a Mack museum, you GOTTA keep all parts with Mack on them on the truck including the wheels!
Yeah I agree I don't think putting a bunch of aftermarket stuff on it/non-factory paint scheme is a good idea if it's going to a Mack museum
I totally agree with Gracie. Go with that raincap the startup Will make it sound like a beast. Looking forward to the finished product. The two of 7:50 you working together it's gonna be beautiful.😊
Nice rig, well done on the build looks fantastic.
What’s done to it so far was not done by us!!
@@thefarmergrayce oh I missed that but it is very nice rig - I am sure you wil improve it further, seems like you love your R Models.
Great to have a fellow Bulldog Mack Sister
awesome cant wait for more videos truck needs to be one colour x
Metalflake steering wheel tan and metalflake black sounds great.
The black and blue combo would be 👌. I’m team rain cap 😉
You are doing an excellent job, I hope to see it finished
Красивая машина... 👍👍👍... Привет тебе из Сибири 🤗
rain cap "Flapper" for LIFE!! sorry but I really love those things there is just nothing better then that flapper knocking as it idles
Gavin's a kool addition to your vlog 👍 and the truck is sweet. Get it grace
Gavin is a tool
I'm with Grace on the shiny wheels!
Oh it is so Nice now ❤ please let it bee😊 thanks for you good videos😀👋🏻👋🏻 Jesper Denmark🇩🇰🇺🇸
I would definitely have it pinstriped between the two colors.
Thanks for Video.... Your Big Fan from India🇮🇳..
That looks good grate job guys
My suggestion is to get a set of twin screw differentials so that you could pull grain trailers and low beds, then keep it. If you guys get hitched, take it on your honeymoon!
Keep the Dayton's!! Everything else I'd say I agree with Grayce! HAHA
I Love The Blue On White
That old Mack is in great condition. Don’t shift too fast, go slower. I use to drive an old R Mack and it took me awhile to get use to it.
I’ll try that!!
Paint the cab Patriot Blue, it's dark blue with a lot of pearl and do the inside the same, you'll find the code in Dodge factory colors. when the sun hits it it really dances!!!
That blue and white mack was down in Florida in late January for the truck show
You silly kids... are great 🙂
And the truck is too!
Good video love the truck ❤
I like the idea of the old school lettering on the side. There is a guy outside of Knoxville who does old school custom lettering named Ricky Wright. He has a UA-cam channel just search his name.
