@@ReloadedGlock We didn't see the entire video so we have no idea what happened before the guy started to violently smash the display case. He most likely used some type of lethal weapon. Most people who steal shoe polish don't threaten those around them with weapons.
Maybe you have a situation of a shoe polish thief and can share your story.
It is telling that the guy came back to the store after being shot. One could make an argument that the excessive force used by the store employee (the point you are making) wasn't excessive enough as the thief returned for more.

Here in Michigan, if a suspect is injured while commiting a criminal act, police will get the person to medical treatment, but the person is not arrested. If arrested while injured, any treatment, hospitalization, etc. becomes the expense of the municipality. Arrests are not made until the suspect is released from the hospital.

That's the problem the victim is in custody, and the suspect got released. Bet suspect gonna sue and win large amount of money for committing a crime. Did anyone mention his family said he's a good boy, too?

I once had an English teacher for grade 10 and 12 English. She always said if you want to do things that aren't right prepare for the consequences.
