From the SG-1 Episode 'Frozen' (S06E04) Carter theorized that the Antarctic gate is the oldest, roughly around 50 million years old. From the same episode, they theorized the Ayiana (chick from the opening of SGA-Rising) was between 25-35 million years old. Jackson figured that the ancients left the milky way from Pegasus between 5-10 million years ago. In either case, Destiny has been flying around the universe for longer then a million years.
The Ancients lost because they were unwilling to use their technology to create weapons of mass destruction. They were fully capable of wiping out the wraith, but the Ancients were too kind. They were not willing to leverage their super advanced technology to win.
@Alex13N the ship is full of military personnel they can go on rotation watching him 24/7, then give weekly updates to the brains along with military brass. they can also bring in techs from earth, rotating threw volunteers.
@FanaticoSodaStereo the funny thing about this show is, if no one really trusted Rush on the ship and at earth why did they not use the stones to send someone to watch him over, McKay seems to be the genius when it comes to ancient tech even if it is outdated tech.
@jaspertheking4life The Ancients never left the Milky Way 1 millions years ago, in the Atlantis pilot it says 'several million years ago'. So in both AoT and SGA the timelines are left ambiguous. There's no contradiction.
I think Chloe was intended to not be useful, what with the whole, wrong people, sub-plot. The Atlantis team might have gotten stuck but they were all trained for it in some way and self contained. Destiny crew, many of them aren't meant to be there. You have a small handful that probably would have, the Icurus staff and Chloe, the Senator's Daughter/Aid. She was probably meant to be uninteresting to start with, one, she's like Eli, a character the audience can relate to. They grew the most.
That's the point I was making to the guy in my original comment :). If the Ancients couldn't win the war with the much superior Aurora-class warships, there's no chance in hell that the 50+ million year old Destiny would "change the tide of the war".
@The high ground Destiny was built with the ability to defend to an extent itself yes. It was not built or designed to wage war or combat. They stated in the second series after multiple fights with the drones that Destiny was not designed to fight.
@DJRapidXXX23 I'm pretty sure SyFy was more informed than yourself, no offense. Brad Wright even said it was because the show wasn't "SG-1" or "Atlantis" enough, and IMO progressed SO SLOWLY.
Yeah, I think the shaw was ok when something actually was going on. Too bad most of the time all we got was a bunch of not that interesting people with not that interesting problems.
Destiny wouldn't have made the slightest bit of difference in the war with the Wraith. Destiny is just an unmanned exploration vessel; it's weak as hell when compared to Aurora-Class warships and even those couldn't win the Ancients the war.
It wasn't the fans who hurt the show. It was the fact that the show was too dark & wasn't all that good. Not to mention the fact that not all the characters were very useful or interesting(Chloe being a good example). I tried to like this show, & it did have a few good episodes, but it was just boring most of the time.
I have always loved the sound of destiny weapons.
it sounds so sexy :D
Same
the sound effects of destiny weapons are amazing.
its so satisfying to listen
Even though she's old, Destiny has teeth
Id give anything for 8 seasons of this show. I always hated that it ended.
the nakai have a cool hyperspace effect

SG-U was damned fine! But i wish there were a LOT more scenes like this. A LOT. MORE!!
The ancients did not lose the war with wraith the because the technology was inferior they lost the war with the wraith because they were outnumbered
indeed
The Ancients lost because they were unwilling to use their technology to create weapons of mass destruction. They were fully capable of wiping out the wraith, but the Ancients were too kind. They were not willing to leverage their super advanced technology to win.
I wish we saw a more detailed fight of the Nakai and the beserker drones.
i love the sound effects
I can still watch and admire him in 2022!
I need a boat like that. :)
I dont think that Nakai ship could withstand Destiny main weapon which is why it fled.
I was on the edge of my seat the entire time.
@jaspertheking4life No it doesn't, I've just had a look and it says:
"Millions of years ago, in a distant galaxy..."
@Alex13N the ship is full of military personnel they can go on rotation watching him 24/7, then give weekly updates to the brains along with military brass. they can also bring in techs from earth, rotating threw volunteers.

its more likely the destiny class ship was built before atlantis. So the technology is much more primitive than the atlantian technology
@Willywank90 yep sry :D i have it fixed as siege ship .. it sounds alike when carlyle says it... Seed Siege -.-
The alien fighters sound like cylon raiders.
the destiny was build on earth and is traveling since a billion years thats why shes damaged. FYI
@xxXlolXxx37 apparently the name "nakai" was from an official source
@Jackclivesim its considerably older than that
@dreadnus Well, they got what they came for. The attack was a cover for the one shuttle docking in order to abduct Chloe. :P

Take pride in being human, humans built destiny and kick any other type of alien in the ass!

This gives me life
@jaspertheking4life The Ancients never left the Ori 2 million years ago. I've no idea where you got that number from.
I person was the attacking ship
Destiny is EARLY EARLY EAARRRLLYY Milkyway ancient technology. It would pretty much be an armed meat shield
wonder if destiny would have change the tide of the war with the wraith
@dreadnus they nly wanted to put ther pepl on the shup and leave tho so yahhh
@DJRapidXXX23 I'm pretty sure SyFy was more informed than yourself, no offense.
Brad Wright even said it was because the show wasn't "SG-1" or "Atlantis" enough, and IMO progressed SO SLOWLY.
@dreadnus It was built by the ancients and controlled by their direct descendant, the humans of the Tau'ri, what did you expect? lol
@Baseshocks You cant ask someone to give up their life 24/7 to watch out for some maniac
Destiny is ship designed for space battles... Siege ship was ship designed for travel :) :P :D
@Rihn000 destiniy isn't human it's ancient
super battla :)
a billion is a 1000 million years fyi
now just think of Destiny in full order. with all systems at max. now THAT would blow those ships in 0.000000001 seconds ROFL
i kno i thought greer and lt scot would die against 20 fighters but there like the rapeshuttle of doom
good vid...and not spoiled with stupid feckin music
Yeah, I think the shaw was ok when something actually was going on. Too bad most of the time all we got was a bunch of not that interesting people with not that interesting problems.
This battle scene is awesome.
Too bad the rest of the show wasn't.
Season 3 cancelled sify.com lost another fan.....
Syfy was really Stupid Cancel this Great Show..
