- Finally, a permanent fix for the dreaded BMW Fuel Strip Sensor?
This video is a follow-up to a video I made a few years ago documenting the fuel level strip fitting procedure.
You can find that video here: • BMW Motorbike Faulty F...
Shortly after making that video the Genuine BMW Fuel Strip failed 🤬
Hopefully this time it's a permanent fix 🤞
This is the part fitted:

Hi Guys, You're not going mad! I had to upload this one again due to some technical gremlins.
Well, i have to disagree, cuz i am going Mad ! :)
Salve io portando la moto in officina e facendo montare la striscia non riescono a calibrarla
Thanks for doing this. I was a bit concerned after trying to decipher the installation instructions and the wiring, but it is really clear here and I will go ahead an install mine on a 2008 K1200GT.
Would very very much appreciate your impression about the reliability of the solution after you install it. i had the same gage issue with my 2007 K1200GT, and am considering installing it on my bike as well. Tired of using the trip meter.
The problem with modern equipment today is it’s dependency on electronics, which sooner or later is bound to fail due to out sourcing of cheap electronic components from China.
Hi, do you have any more news regarding this fuel strip?
Looks like it would be good for them to provide 6 inches of wire lead so that the wires will tuck back into their little home next to the chip when you install it in the holder.
As it is, your heat shrink made it too big to tuck home. With a few more inches, you could offset the shrinks as well as tuck the wires into the holder's gap.
darn it, sold out already! but the page shows their place is in argentina, is there somewhere else in spain to find them? did i miss that..
Actually it turned out to be in Spain and easy to purchase for me here in Sweden, I’ll check back once it’s installed
Har du bytt din givare än?@@MrThunk123
@@MrThunk123 So, did you install it? How did it go? Any feedback about the strip and whether or not it's fixed your problem?
@@ermesborgnino4704 yup installed and working, it seems ok
@@MrThunk123 Thank you for responding!! Very glad to hear it. i'm not sure i could do the job myself, so i'm going to have a shop do it for me. Sounds like it went well for you.
Hi mucker were can I buy one of them fuel strip from .bmw are so expensive
Tks for the tip
How much do BMW charge for this repair?
Hi
video and subtitles works fine
Ciao ;)
Get on with it
I have had mine installed 6months ago and it is working fine
I also agree PETG is not the best to 3D print from they are better plastics to print from.... leaving the pins sticking out and asking you to chop them is a bit lazy of them. Lots to improve on but if it works happy days!!
My thoughts 👍
@SuperBikeSurgery thank you for this great video. I have order it to install on my bmw r1200r (k27). I will be using motoscan for the fuel calibration, nevertheless I was trying to find your video on how you did. Can you link it in the description? Thank you!
Hi!
Thanks for sharing this information!
I did try to go on their website, but can’t read a word
in Spanish, can you please share link where you can order it.
Thank you again!
If your using computer
There is a translate option on your search engine
My local US dealer has an updated BMW version (different p/n from the original). With tax as of this writing (Feb '24), about $300.
Hi loved the video about the replacement fuel strip for some reason the web site doesn’t work for me have you any contact details as I won’t to ask about a strip for the GS 1200 if possible. Regards Mark
I'm on my 2nd strip from these guys. My 1200 GSA works fine until it's gets near the bottom of the range then throws a fit and shows half a tank on the gauge.
The guys developing this product are trying to find out why it's doing this.
Let's see if they can fix it.
Has anyone any contact details for these guys
Have you had any feedback from the developer
@@angusmitchell9804
Hi
Yes the developer hopefully will be sending out a new modified sensor in a couple of weeks.🤞
Please kindly provide an update regarding your experience with the seller and the product. i'm considering buying their strip and replacing mine. My strip has been replaced 3 times and i'm sick of it.
Well, it turns out that if you have converted back to a fuel float you can't go back to a fuel strip, well not from these guys anyway.
Built-in obsolescence, bloody shame BrokeMyWallet wont honer, or recall to fix fuel strip problem. Why would anyone buy a new bike to experience the same problems.
Great information 👍
I’m just going old school and using the trip odometer. It worked for me for 30 years so why not?
That's alright then.
BMW parts without warranty..name and shame the parts supplier
Just got mine and installing....thanks a lot with the wire help :D
Did it solve the issue?
Hi, I followed your video (excellent by the way) and ordered the new Spanish fuel sensor strip , fitting went well and after holding in the clutch for 20 seconds all well. next step was to re calibrate with the Unicarscan UCSI-2100. However I can not download the app to my PC but can to my android phone and when wanting to buy the app the site will not accept my post code. Any advice, Kind regards Keith. BMW R1200 RT 05 year and 60+miles. cheers.
Were you able to do it with the motoscan ultimate version ?
Yes all good thanks.@@JoaoPedroSobral
So what is the hand computer you are using to calibrate?
Gs 911 hex code
I have been riding a motorcycle since the 1970's, and as time goes on, i am Not impressed with anything that comes out of Germany when it comes to modern Autos or motorcycles.
Awesome video! Btw, can you show us more about the diagnostic software and interface you are using ?
Can you kindly tell me what the line from the tiny hole in the fuel filler that goes around the cap to anlong fuel line with a hose clamp on the very end but no evidence of where that goes but even more importantly, how do I run the vacuum line from the fuel pump to? Where does it go? I have it spraying gas. I sprayed my bike in gas twice.
Is there any update on the fuel sensor? I just ordered one today. Wondering if the bike is still displaying correctly.
How much is the sensor my bike not trust worthy ive ran empty with 70 80 miles left allegedly going up hill i think i noticed
Molto interessante. DUE quesiti, 1) che strumento usi per la calibrazione. 2) che cavo serve per collegare il pc al sensore.
Sei molto istruttivo e ti ringrazio per il bel filmato. Ti sarei grato se mi vorrai rispondere. GRAZIE MILLE, franco
Curious if this is still working
Still working 🤞
Does the engine have to be run ning when you pull the clutch in
Ma la calibrazione deve avvenire con la striscia nel serbatoio o o la striscia fuori dal serbatoio
Salve la mia non si riesce a calibrare bmwr1200r 2008
Hi matey whats the site called on were i can purchase a fuel strip. I cannot find them anywhere.
The link is in the video description.
Is the fuel stripe still working? How long time you have had it in use now?
Still going strong, must be a couple of years 🤔
Is this part available in the USA? The domain seems like o have disappeared and I can’t find any further info via Google.
Any pointer/help is appreciated.
Great. My friends R1200GSA year 2010 has some 40+ tkm and just the fourt stripe broke down. He's a litle bit tired to change the fifth stripe powered by BMW 😂 Have to discuss with him. Have a great driving summer!
