I am a man in my mid 50’s with past experience with HGV Class Two. Although November 2023 I passed my HGV Class One (C+E) first time pass. However I never thought I’d experience such a major struggle to find an HGV Class One position of work, Given I’m unable to get the experience for Class One. Either way not known to me before now but I will certainly attempt to find work in the way of your own experiences. Hello mate, great vid as always. Just an update. Took Cat C last week. Passed reversing test but failed driving due to bad observation. Didn't anticipate a driver cutting me up and then brake checking me. Go figure. Have requested a retest. 2nd time lucky perhaps.
Don't sweat it mate. Had a similar thing happen to me first time round and had to retake. Same thing happened on the second test but they still passed me. Sometimes you get unlucky is all. Advice that helped me is to stop worrying about nitpicking details and avoiding minors and just drive cautious and focus on majors. You'll pass next time 👍
just stumbled across this video, passed my class 1 on 07/07, lack of experience has been hard to get a job, been applying left right and centre. didnt know about the job search the way you do it, had literally just been looking on indeed

Kevin, what advice do you have for Tacho card entries, do you log unloading waiting times as POA or other work? I'm OK with breaks etc but sometimes I'm running close to the 15hr daily working rule, especially as I'm part time through a local agency, one week I'm on fridge work in Hull, yesterday I was down London store deliveries, cheers pal
Well if they are loading or unloading I usually smash a brake ok there unless it’s only like a >10min load anything more I take a brake as it ads up and tbh it legit is a little brake from the driving 😅😂

im finding it hard to find a job as a new Class 1 driver :( everything wants 6/12/24 months experience :(
Some agencies will take on new drivers and after 6 months you can start to apply for other jobs
