It came from the byzantine court itself. A Byzantine Prince was the one who asked the Latins to invade the Empire

The 4th Crusade's initial target was actually Egypt. That's why they went through Venice, they needed a massive navy to do the naval invasion, rather than going the land route through the Balkans and Anatolia that all the previous crusades had used to get to Jerusalem.
The cheese in this episode is real.. I feel like that event should be restricted to a one-time use cause the status quo is kind of broken

One mod I can't live without is 'mass demand conversion' (I think that's what it's called). Whenever I see someone converting vassals manually it triggers my ptsd and hurts me physically >_>

I got one where I can spend, like, 10k gold to convert my whole realm. Cheaty…but it’s 10k gold, so.
That mod is a godsend but I'd love a option that it only demands conversion if there is a certain success chance

One of my most memorable runs was when I got 4th Crusaded after I finally worked my way up to become the emperor and immediately lost it to the crusade. I was so demoralized I was about to quit the run but I was fueled by vengeance and worked my way back up again so I could dismantle the papacy.

I once was playing ck3 and doing genetics challenge my brother was sitting next to me and i said out loud , " my sister is 16 i gotta marry her to my son " and he looked super fuckin confused and worried ( for context i have no sis and no son irl)

@@SnapStrategy Surprised you even made a video and didn't give up when you saw how stupid that decision was, everyone having huge amounts of special soldiers is crazy. They need to fix that. Probably wouldn't be so bad if everyone could only do it once but it's basically an unplayable cheat mod at this point.

Starting as/in Lotharingia, form an empire that has a contiguous path of land that spans from the northernmost part of Scandinavia to the furthest south county in Africa
At 37:53 what it means is (basileus basileon you read it like vasilefs vasileon and means king of kings) (basileuon basileue you read it like vasilevon vasileve and it mean rule ruling) doesnt make a lot o sense in english but it does in greek. Love you content keep up the good work.

You should definitely follow this up with a Latin Empire game, trying to replace the byzantine empire
They might have to implement a legitimacy and lifetime cap on the spiritual soldiers, maybe a minimum requirement of remaining volume of the special retinue to apply reinforcements.

Honestly mine slows down a bit too, I think its just one of those mods that cause some slowdown probably as it includes asia, They mention in the mod description to use the Population Control mod to help that! but i've never tested it myself,

Population controls helps but lowering your settings will help. It won’t look good but turning off literally everything will absolutely help.

Ok, I think this will sound a bit like a conspiracy but I think it’s too much coincidence that Snap Strategy is playing this mod after Paradox revealed they are working on a new Start Date, and the Fourth Crusade is probably the most likely one and one of the most requested by the playerbase.
Hope we’re right. Also this mod looks amazing I always thought it wouldn’t be this detailed but man this is awesome. I may have to try it now.

@embrance9565 I believe it's confirmed they won't go outside the 867 - 1453 timeframe. You should check out The Fallen Eagle mod though, they have really well made bookmarks from the early medieval period.

I love this mod but I avoid it like a plague because of all these special soldier stacking. At one point nikea had like 150k special soldiers in my game.

Loss of dread(dread provides "security" against vassals because they fear you) The golden one is your legitimacy, more legitimacy means better foreign and domestic policy, and the third one, I suppose, I don't have to explain. ^^

I would have phrased the beginning differently when you said "brought down the once mighty empire" (or something along those lines) when the latin empire was the byzantine with a different name and the paleologans in nikaea made the empire at its height culturally (so ive heard)

You forget WHY the Catholics sacked Byzantium (Massacre of the Latins) and also fail to mention that the attack was condemned by the Pope of the time.
They sacked it due to the wealth the city had. It really had nothing to do with the massacre with Latin's. Not to mention the person who originally promised them the money to take Constantinople died and the usurper didn't pay them so yeah. Very stupid decision that led to a monster taking over Europe later on.
They massacred a guetto and The Latins massacred The whole empire.
