San Diego Comic Con 2023 - Mattel revealed the newest addition to Masters of the Universe Origins Cartoon Collection featuring figures inspired by the Filimation He-Man and the Masters of the Universe Cartoon from 1983- 1984. Showcased were He-Man, Teela, Man-At-Arms, Skeletor, and Trap Jaw. Also featured were Lady Slither, Fangor, and the surprise reveal of Rokkon the first transforming Origins figure in the line.
San Diego Comic 2023 kicks off with day 1 at the Mattel Booth, where Mattel features their new MOTU Origins Cartoon Collection, and more main line figures were revealed for the Snake Men.

This Skeletor, reminds me of the Skeletor from The He-Man & She-Ra: A Christmas Special.

We need a crossover Eddie Skeletor (Iron Maiden).
The Skeletor looks great, particularly the different facial expressions. I was a bit sceptical about the Filmation figures, but if I saw this Skeletor in a store, I'd pick him up in a second. Not sure about Skilled Skeleton, though he is cute. Luckily, I still have more than a week to decide whether to get this set.
Your thoughts on the skilled skeleton is exactly my point from above. Gary V is way into marketing & that’s what the v friends line is about. That’s why they all have strange attribute names. It began as just cards but it’s way to segmented of a niche product to be a huge mainstream toy line. I hope he proves me wrong but I’ve worked in the toy industry for 30 years & also worked for him at his ad agency & the demographic for that kind of product isn’t as large as he thinks.
Our first glimpse at a cartoon version Skeletor would have been the Origins Cartoon Collection reveal from SDCC '23, right!?
I just hope they will release a regular single carded version with this line. The swappable face sculpts and hands are kinda funny though. 😅

I'll probably order this pair. I really like Skeletor's rocker hand 🤘 and facial expressions! I think this set may be sought after by collectors in afew years, though that's probably a terrible reason to buy them! 😅

if nothing else - i am LOVING the new face emotions - this is great! hoping they’ll do a few of the characters this way… he-man, beast man (surely), orko, heck - even cringer - having a few of the more wide range of expressions…. they’ve seriously captured the joy of the original filmation series!

As i understood V friends is some kind of collectible art category toys,and they made some kind of collaboration with mattel to see how this will go! I kinda dig up the whole vibe here because i like allot collectible art as a pop collector.And also as a medicom bearbricks fan and kid robot figure art style! The cute skelly reminds me allot kid robot figures,and looks like allot like kronk bones they also created! The whole thing that scares me the most is those animated scenes we just watched! Don't tell me that they are gonn amake some kind of a satirical take on motu close to teen titans go! Because this might be the real weird thing behind all this.I do however have hopes for this pack to be expected to europe as well and not limited editions and stuff because i a also a gitd fan since i ordered the skeleton warriors pack and still waiting as well!
I like the filmation skeletor but not that silly vee friends figure they could have released skeletor alone with those extra accessories. I like the faces and the look. 45.00?? With that dumb vee friend, come on Mattel!!!! Not sure if I want it. If I get it it’s only for skeletor.

I wish we knew is the swappable faces will be on the retail release. I love that about him, but I hate the sparkly paint job. It's kind of a deal breaker for me.

I wish toy companies would realize most people don't like this mixing of properties in sets. I want GI JOE not transformers. I want MOTU not whatever VeeFriends are.
And the annoying thing is, if you think you can get this and then skip the Filmation Skeletor next year, well, that release comes with a unique mask accessories from the cartoon. So...The double dipping starts before the line even starts. 🙄
I'm not ready for even higher priced exclusive after Lady Slither.
GI Joe x Transformers is a bad example. Many collectors DO want those to crossover, and they have done so many times already.
@@Rocket1377 "Many" is vague term. They've done it 3 times at mass (online) release. Before that, it was some convention sets where the "transformers" were just recolored non-transformering Joe vehicles.
Many Joe collectors I know don't really want GI JOE figures only available in those sets. In fact they'd buy multiples of some of those figures, but instead have to rationalize, if at all, the purchase of a crossover pack that is far from cheap to begin with.
And, yeah, I'm biased. The crossover sucks. The comics sucked. The two properties are not a good fit. Never were.

Cartoon is not for me… waiting only for Conde Marzo and Evil Seed or others charters arent in Origins main line
Same. I’ll be getting He Man and skeketor because I collect all the variants and even make my own. But then it’s only count Marzo, evil seed, Queen Marlena and hopefully a second chance to get Kol-Darr in filmation.
I really love this Skeletor but not digging the little guy, he's neat and all but meh
