Honu Buddies at Maui TURTLE TOWN! Makena Bay & 5 CAVES snorkel sites

Honu! (Hawaiian green sea turtles). Makena Bay has an amazing snorkel area pretty much right off the beach. The best reef areas are on either side of the bay… try both!
Just up the road from Makena Landing is another site called 5 Caves, known for its lava arches and caves. We didn’t make it out too deep at that site due to currents, but we did get to see at least one cave. I believe most of the sea caves are deeper out and better suited for scuba diving, although it is possible to free dive.
Amazing area, especially Makena Bay, highly recommend.

This is probably my favorite place to snorkel on Maui. You have to get there a little early, but the access to the water is as easy as it gets. Probably snorkeled there 10-15 times and have seen turtles every time. Thanks for the video. We haven’t been there for a few years, so nice to see again.
