I was stationed at KMCAS from Jul 1981--Nov 1983. There is no worst day to be in Hawaii. A bad day in paradise is better than the best day everywhere else
My wife and I went to Kauai in December 2019. We LOVED it! It rained some, but not bad. It was mostly cloudy so we never got burnt. I can't wait to go back!!!
September and October have always been the best times to come from a weather and price perspective. I’m a born and raised Hawaiian from Kauai. Kauai use to have a location referred to in statistics as the wettest spot in the world. I remember it was around 600 inches a year. I tuned in to see is anything had changed with climate change. The worst time did change. This use to be April/May when it would pour. Kauai tends to have an hour or two of rain every day. It is light rain. Beat to relax. Enjoy! Aloha.
I agree, October is best. Especially when you travel with points and want upgrades at hotels with a family. My only complaint is that it gets dark early, which is not necessarily a bad thing when you adjust to the time change. We’re usually up very early in Hawaii.
They’re right. October has no major holidays that people would travel for (people don’t travel for Halloween), kids are in school and parents have already blown their vacation days in the summer. You go during winter months and the place is packed with people escaping snow. Summer months are a hot ass mess.
I lived on Kauai and Oahu for over 4 years. Just go when you get a discount... Weather is great generally all year and the temperature only flexes like 10 degrees F.
This is exactly what every tourist planning a trip NEEDS to know!!! A data driven approach at getting the best value and time for your Maui vacation. You may consider making more periodic updates with new data. Thanks!
Totally! It is interesting to see the 2020 data as it is so shocking of a drop - 99.7% less people than 2019. Weather is a changing, like hurricane season, so we are looking forward to sharing more trends in 2021.
I agree that October is a great time to visit for all the reasons you stated. I took my mom in 2019 to Kaanapali Beach area for her 85th BD! We were able to get an ocean view room, tickets to the Old Lahaina Luau and sunset dinner sail with ease! A trip we will always cherish! A special treat was that there was a full moon over the ocean and reflecting on the water almost the entire time we were there! An experience dreams are made of! 🌴🌊🌺
@@giiggzlo7227 I booked a trip deal offered by Costco which included the hotel, car and flights. I booked the activities myself by contacting the venues directly. Depending on the time of year you go, it is recommended to make reservations for activities as early as possible.
We went to the North Shore of Oahu and Maui last 2 weeks of September and first week of October. It was beautiful and sunny 87 and sunny every day. No rain. Best 3 weeks
Yes we go to Maui in October also. Its a great month to go. You MUST take a helicopter tour. If you don't you won't really see Maui. Incredible views especially the waterfalls,
I really enjoyed your video guys; it was very informative. My husband and I will be in Oahu from 3/12 - 3/18 this year, my brother and sister-in-law will join un on her birthday 3/14, on 3/18 we will fly to Maui and my sister will fly in on that day and meet us at OGG, we'll fly home to Texas on 3/25. It's actually a blessing that we get to spend all that time on the 2 islands, my husband cleans 3 vacation homes for a doctor and her husband, and they asked us in July if we wanted to stay at their time share properties in Hawaii (Marriott's), you can imagine our excitement! so our accommodations are paid for, we just have to fork out for food, car rental, flight, etc..... I still can't believe we're going to Hawaii! I wanted to share that with you.

We only have time off the end of December so all three of our trips to Kauai/Maui/Hawaii were Dec 15-31. AND we still loved it and had a fantastic time. But, yes, the condos and flights were $$$. Crowds were OK and we hit the beaches early to get parking. We have more flexibility with our jobs now and are planning next trip for early summer. 😎
A few points. First don’t worry about the rain. It usually doesn’t last long or rain hard. In addition it doesn’t stop you from having fun. If it’s raining on one side of the island , it’s sunny on the other. October is good, but it’s also hurricane season. While they rarely hit Hawaii straight on, they do sometimes skirt by and wash out a week. It’s not something you should avoid when planning dates, but just keep it in mind. Last the best time to visit starts the second week of January through February. The so called “festive” high season is over and the prices drop like a rock. You also have the absolute best weather. Almost no humidity relative for Hawaii, October is still humid. Crowds are gone, you only have to deal with a tiny bit more rain. Oh and don’t think it doesn’t rain in October either. The only time to avoid is June, July and august. The rates are high, the crowds huge, and the weather brutal. I’ve visited over Christmas and it’s wonderful. Expensive yes but it’s great. I’ve been to Hawaii in every month, two to three times a year for some 40 years to visit family
Mid November is the start of the best weather, it’s a good time to go. While it’s still low season watch your dates as there is a spike up around thanksgiving. Keep in mind Hawaii is still having a problem getting people back to work. So make any dinner reservations at least 2-3 days ahead of time. Before you leave isn’t too soon. As for any activities make those 2-3 weeks if not a month ahead. Have fun
We’re considering going in April 2021 and honestly, based on your charts, April seems to be pretty close to October in all the stats. A very close second in my opinion 💕
I am going to Maui for 2023 spring break!!! Although it’s in 8 months my family felt that it’s better the be safe than sorry and to start making early reservations. Like for Mama’s Fish House you have to reserve at least 6 months prior to get window seating 😯
Growing up I was fortunate enough to spend 2 beautiful weeks in Kahana, Maui for spring break every year. While it might be a busier time with families vacationing, I always enjoyed it! Great mild weather and tons of opportunities to whale watch! As an adult I’ve also been lucky enough to visit other islands and at different times. Aside from March I would say June and October are also some of my favorite months, for weather and affordability. Though anytime spent in Hawaii is a great time!
Thanks for sharing! The spring shoulder season is a nice time to visit. It really is splitting hairs when it comes to visiting Hawaii, any month in the tropics is worth a visit.
Just got back a couple days ago January 18 2022. Beautiful weather, sunny and 80 degrees every day. Amazing sunsets every night but sadly the sun sets at 615pm.
I came last Nov. The day after Thanksgiving!! It was amazing. Covid was in full swing. I loved it. I stayed at the beachcomber. It was empty. I fill like I had the place to myself!! Coming back this year. Not looking forward to the crowds!!

It all depends on the time of year. For instance, Kauai is small island but it has HUGE differences in weather and ocean conditions on NorthShore vs. South shore.
Yea Kauai is the only major island that doesn't really have an area that will hit 80+ pretty much each day. Even in the winter Honolulu (Oahu), Kona (Bid Island), and Kihei (Maui) will have high temperatures in the low 80s almost every day.
@@stevekov6740 it might over on the west side. Kekaha and Waimea are generally pretty hot, desert like environments. They even have cactus. That’s why I never go there. Lol 🥵 🥵 🥵
We always told our friends to come visit us during Sept-Mid Nov and also Mid Jan - Early May. Don't go during the holidays and summer. Although, we honestly had 32 guests in our 4 years living there, and they all came at different times, so over 4 years we probably did have someone come for each month and always had a fantastic trip. But that's also being able to come stay with your friends for free lol.... And not need rental cars! I also don't mean that for 4 years we had a visitor for every single month of all those years... Just maybe 1 year we'd have some during 3 or 4 months, and then the next year during different months. I would agree that Oct is great!

April has great weather but watch the surf advisories as there can still be big waves in April. Check out our 1-day in Hilo itinerary because Hilo has a lot to offer but it is best to stay on the leeward side of the island. thehawaiivacationguide.com/what-can-you-do-in-hilo-for-the-day/. Check out our Around the Big Island video if you haven't yet, it shows our favorite places to visit. Have a great trip and thanks for watching!
I try to go the last 2 weeks of September

Haha! Awesome! I’m leaving for Hawaii on October 1st around 7:55 AM from Louisville! We will arrive in Maui after 1 PM! I’m so glad my great aunt chose October for us to go! I wonder if she knew it was the right month for it! Haha

New friend here.thank you for sharing Hawaii beautiful place
Thank you so much!💜🌺
I live in LA and it got 120 degrees this summer, so high 90s for me is still cool haha
High 90s is still hit for us aha. It was in the low hundred this summer I left to SD lol
I agree I’m from Texas we have similar temps and 90s is cool lol 😂
Lol 🥵 🥵 🥵
You two are awesome! Thank you for all the detailed information!
Thank you so much for this. I'm planning a Hawaii vacation for 2022. October it is!!
have a great trip! Check out our website for more details to help with your planning: thehawaiivacationguide.com/

How was the weather in September?
Coincidentally i just booked our first Hawaiian trip for this October!!! So excited 🥲😆 cant wait to see maui!
have a great trip in October! good choice!
Well if you couldn't wait wouldn't that mean you didn't go? Did you go? Did you have to quarantine?
