We updated this video for 2024! New data and info is here: ua-cam.com/video/tweRl3e-iME/v-deo.html
I visited last April and it was perfect. It didn’t rain the entire week, sunny and 80’s everyday, and wasn’t very crowded.
I was stationed at KMCAS from Jul 1981--Nov 1983. There is no worst day to be in Hawaii. A bad day in paradise is better than the best day everywhere else
Lol tell that to the thousands of homeless there
I go in May. Low rainfall. Beginning of the dry season.
My wife and I went to Kauai in December 2019. We LOVED it! It rained some, but not bad. It was mostly cloudy so we never got burnt. I can't wait to go back!!!
This is such a GREAT travel guide! Y’all did the research and everything, so awesome!
Thanks so much.
This is exactly what every tourist planning a trip NEEDS to know!!! A data driven approach at getting the best value and time for your Maui vacation. You may consider making more periodic updates with new data. Thanks!
Totally! It is interesting to see the 2020 data as it is so shocking of a drop - 99.7% less people than 2019. Weather is a changing, like hurricane season, so we are looking forward to sharing more trends in 2021.
I agree, October is best. Especially when you travel with points and want upgrades at hotels with a family. My only complaint is that it gets dark early, which is not necessarily a bad thing when you adjust to the time change. We’re usually up very early in Hawaii.
I visited in October and temps were in the low 80s Kauai. Perfect!
Wow! I wish I could visit Hawaii! Thanks for the info.God bless ur family.
❤ thank you for the guide! Hawaii is a wonderful place to travel. We enjoyed our trip and cannot wait to go back. Thank you so much for sharing.❤
They’re right. October has no major holidays that people would travel for (people don’t travel for Halloween), kids are in school and parents have already blown their vacation days in the summer. You go during winter months and the place is packed with people escaping snow. Summer months are a hot ass mess.
My birthday month thank goodness 🎉
Thanks for sharing. I'm shaping my novel story so this is why I'm here to research. This is big help for me.
Wow, that’s awesome! I just booked a trip to the North Shore of Oahu the last week in October. Looks like I picked a good time!
UA-cam just suggested this video... I love your channel guys! 🌸🤙🏼
Hi Jordan, I especially love the Sailing Plumber! Definitely taking your advice, cheers!
You two are awesome! Thank you for all the detailed information!
September and October have always been the best times to come from a weather and price perspective. I’m a born and raised Hawaiian from Kauai. Kauai use to have a location referred to in statistics as the wettest spot in the world. I remember it was around 600 inches a year. I tuned in to see is anything had changed with climate change. The worst time did change. This use to be April/May when it would pour. Kauai tends to have an hour or two of rain every day. It is light rain. Beat to relax. Enjoy! Aloha.
Hey , what about mid November?
October is awesome in Hawaii, but whale watching is my favorite time there!! March!
Yay! We just booked our trip for October! Our first time in Maui! So excited! Thanks for sharing 🌺
Where did you book? Been holding out for the flight that gets us there at 1pm instead of 6pm
Yes we go to Maui in October also. Its a great month to go. You MUST take a helicopter tour. If you don't you won't really see Maui. Incredible views especially the waterfalls,
I was born and raised in Hawai’i, so I’ll visit Hawai’i any month, any time of the year, because, it’s ultimately “home” for me. Doesn’t matter.
I agree that October is a great time to visit for all the reasons you stated. I took my mom in 2019 to Kaanapali Beach area for her 85th BD! We were able to get an ocean view room, tickets to the Old Lahaina Luau and sunset dinner sail with ease! A trip we will always cherish! A special treat was that there was a full moon over the ocean and reflecting on the water almost the entire time we were there! An experience dreams are made of! 🌴🌊🌺
That truly sounds like a very special bday trip! What a great idea and that full moon sounds magical.
Did u book a package through a travel agent?
@@giiggzlo7227 I booked a trip deal offered by Costco which included the hotel, car and flights. I booked the activities myself by contacting the venues directly. Depending on the time of year you go, it is recommended to make reservations for activities as early as possible.
I’m going to Hawaii in September 12 2021. I’m so excited 😆
thank you for this video see y'all in Feb. 2022
Husband and I always go to Maui in October!! 😁😁😁
No kidssssss!! lol
And so quiet and cheap! 🙌
Poor kids
I lived on Kauai and Oahu for over 4 years. Just go when you get a discount... Weather is great generally all year and the temperature only flexes like 10 degrees F.
Good to know! I was actually planning to go in September 2020 but that didn't happen. I'll keep October in mind
So helpful!!! Thank you so much!
Sounds great still waiting for the quarantine to be over soon I hope!
I'm sooooooo glad I found your channel my 50th is next yr in October & I'm hoping the world calms down so I can come there
Growing up I was fortunate enough to spend 2 beautiful weeks in Kahana, Maui for spring break every year. While it might be a busier time with families vacationing, I always enjoyed it! Great mild weather and tons of opportunities to whale watch! As an adult I’ve also been lucky enough to visit other islands and at different times. Aside from March I would say June and October are also some of my favorite months, for weather and affordability. Though anytime spent in Hawaii is a great time!
Thanks for sharing! The spring shoulder season is a nice time to visit. It really is splitting hairs when it comes to visiting Hawaii, any month in the tropics is worth a visit.
We went to the North Shore of Oahu and Maui last 2 weeks of September and first week of October. It was beautiful and sunny 87 and sunny every day. No rain. Best 3 weeks
😊 thanks
Maui in April 🎉❤
Had to cancel our March 2020 trip and looking forward to putting this state back on our list.
As of Jan 2021 get a neg test and your are free to visit islands without restriction. Neighbor left yesterday under those conditions.
So much smilling in the video made my day! 😇
Thumbs up! Great information for first time visitors! thank you guys!
Thanks for the thumbs up!
Unless you’re into wind sports, the summer months generate constant trade wind for north shore and also lots for south shore. Especially on Maui, this is a very unexpected thing for visitors not coming specifically for wind sports. While trade winds blow year round, they are strongest in summer.
I went in July and it was awesome not so busy and not so much rain.
We only have time off the end of December so all three of our trips to Kauai/Maui/Hawaii were Dec 15-31. AND we still loved it and had a fantastic time. But, yes, the condos and flights were $$$. Crowds were OK and we hit the beaches early to get parking. We have more flexibility with our jobs now and are planning next trip for early summer. 😎
Did you have troubles with rain at all? I'm going there tomorrow and it's showing 80% of rain the whole week 🥲
I am going to Maui for 2023 spring break!!! Although it’s in 8 months my family felt that it’s better the be safe than sorry and to start making early reservations. Like for Mama’s Fish House you have to reserve at least 6 months prior to get window seating 😯
Yeah I’m going on a Hawaiian cruise from Long Beach this October thanks for the info
"Hawaii Travel Activity Book For Kids Ages 5-12" , I found this activity book on amazon. I bought it for my son, he loves it
The best time for me is during the winter, cooler and big winter swells 🏄🏽♂️
Winter is the best time. Best sunsets great surf.
My husband and I are being transferred to Pearl Harbor next year, this is super helpful to get to know what weather will look like through the year! Thank you!!
Have a safe move to O'ahu! Enjoy the islands and learn about the culture while you are there. Shoal of Time by Gavin Dawes is a good history book on the islands.
Your baby is adorable ty for all the info also
New friend here.thank you for sharing Hawaii beautiful place
Nice vid!
We always visit in early May. The weather is mild and crowds are always low as it's just before the travel season starts. Oct. sounds great though and we'll keep that in mind for the future.
Thanks for the advice 😊
wooohoooo look at that! october is my anniversary and the best month!! i think thats a sign
I absolutely agree. I have been there in October. May is also a good month to go.
Yayyy !! We are booked in November 5-13th to visit Maui
Congrats! Have a great trip. You can share how the pre-testing goes with us.
I’m going Saturday via Norwegian Cruise Line! Forecast is showing high 60’s all 7 days! My kinda weather! 😊
Go in December. Christmas is great in Hawaii. And new years fireworks celebration is the best.
feel like anytime is a good time in hawaii
Lived in Hawaii for a few years. It’s a matter of perspective for December. Remember my parents visiting during the end of December and it was chilly for me but my parents were getting killed by the humidity.
Coincidentally i just booked our first Hawaiian trip for this October!!! So excited 🥲😆 cant wait to see maui!
have a great trip in October! good choice!
Well if you couldn't wait wouldn't that mean you didn't go? Did you go? Did you have to quarantine?
Thank you so much for this. I'm planning a Hawaii vacation for 2022. October it is!!
have a great trip! Check out our website for more details to help with your planning: thehawaiivacationguide.com/
Yes, we are lucky that we booked our Maui vacation in October. Thanks for the info. 😊
well done! have a great trip!
Just spent $80/night on Ai'i rd in April. Was great.
Omggg my parents won a contest and won a trip to Hawaii in October for a week I’m so excited
Niceeeee I hope there’s no cough cough around that time
vacation planned for April 2021. maui. first time visit. i am so happy your page!
We are excited for you! You may even still have some whales here in April.
May is my favorite month.
Great video. I agree with you, October is a good time to come for the advantages you mentioned. And yes last 2 weeks of December are so much fun but so crowded and expensive! I am enjoying your videos. Will connect soon (sorry I dropped the ball on that).
We look forward to it! And I'm terrible about checking messages but I'll get better :)
Thanks so much. I am planning our first trip for next year to renew our vows.
have a wonderful trip and enjoying the planning. Congrats on the vow renewal
I’m going to Kauai thanksgiving week this year :) would love some recs on what to do to enjoy the thanksgiving holiday!
Just got back a couple days ago January 18 2022. Beautiful weather, sunny and 80 degrees every day. Amazing sunsets every night but sadly the sun sets at 615pm.
Yay for October being the best month to come because I was going to come anyway😌
You guys have such a great vibe. I’m going to visit Hawaii this year for the first time, and I plan to watch your videos. Thank you.
Its a paradise
Thank you so much!💜🌺
My birthday is in October and that is when I plan to go ❤️
We always told our friends to come visit us during Sept-Mid Nov and also Mid Jan - Early May. Don't go during the holidays and summer. Although, we honestly had 32 guests in our 4 years living there, and they all came at different times, so over 4 years we probably did have someone come for each month and always had a fantastic trip. But that's also being able to come stay with your friends for free lol.... And not need rental cars! I also don't mean that for 4 years we had a visitor for every single month of all those years... Just maybe 1 year we'd have some during 3 or 4 months, and then the next year during different months. I would agree that Oct is great!
Such a good vid. We’re coming in Thanksgiving because that’s the only time our family of 4 have the availability. Outstanding information. Thank you
have a wonderful Thanksgiving trip. My family came out for Thanksgiving in 2019!
We went to Oahu in December twice. Both gorgeous. Their idea of rain is a quick shower gorgeous again. Going again to Maui this time. We’ll see how it goes
exactly! A quick shower with a rainbow at the end. See you soon!
you guys seem like such nice people!! going to oahu next week🤙🏼
Have a great trip! Love that island
The saddest part is that upon learning this most people would find the only time they are able to go is the "worst" month 😂
That's what make the month "worst".. everyone's going in that month.
Going to Waikiki Hawaii in may 11th. So excited!
i’m going may 6! :)
We’re going on May 11 Kauai
We're actually going in February. On valentines to be exact. Super excited. We also went last February before covid really blew up. So excited to be going back.
we're going next month as well! the week after Valentine's. what was your overall experience last time you went in February?
@@letters7777 since nobody was really concerned about covid at the time it was pretty packed. But its so beautiful it wasn't really a problem in any way. Lots of people walking in the streets was the only time I noticed how packed it was. But the weather was nice. You'll love it. 💘 maybe after the trip if I remember I can come and update how it is now.
that’s nice, we’re planning on going after vday as well. Was there too much rain when you went?
I'm planning a trip in October so I'm super excited
Have a great trip!
I’m from Oahu, born and raised I actually enjoy the rainy days . I also like going on back home in October . Btw I love data science approach to traveling to Hawaii
yeah, rainy days are relaxing. makes the tropics feel like the tropics.
We picked Maui in late September 2021 because of you guys. Thanks. Great price for flight and lodging.
great to hear! congrats on the good deals
How was the weather in September?
Thanks guys!
Thank you for this!! We were supposed to go to Maui in September 2020 but due to COVID we decided to cancel. We rescheduled for April 2021 and also cancelled because although we live in Western NY, we fly out of Toronto (the exchange rate makes the flights so much cheaper) and the border is still closed. We are now regrouping and researching the beginning of October or Thanksgiving. We spent Thanksgiving on Kauai a few years ago and it was amazing. The problem we are having is finding quality accommodations during Thanksgiving that don’t break the bank. Lol I’m enjoying your channel-thank you!
If you have Still have sights/hearts set on Maui vacation, suggest checking out reservations for August/September, Or Maybe checkout reservations for 7-day interisland cruise...4-ports-of-call, 3 islands + 3 days....
0:49… I was in Hawaii from November 15 to November 23, 2019. I lucked out!
A few points. First don’t worry about the rain. It usually doesn’t last long or rain hard. In addition it doesn’t stop you from having fun. If it’s raining on one side of the island , it’s sunny on the other. October is good, but it’s also hurricane season. While they rarely hit Hawaii straight on, they do sometimes skirt by and wash out a week. It’s not something you should avoid when planning dates, but just keep it in mind. Last the best time to visit starts the second week of January through February. The so called “festive” high season is over and the prices drop like a rock. You also have the absolute best weather. Almost no humidity relative for Hawaii, October is still humid. Crowds are gone, you only have to deal with a tiny bit more rain. Oh and don’t think it doesn’t rain in October either. The only time to avoid is June, July and august. The rates are high, the crowds huge, and the weather brutal. I’ve visited over Christmas and it’s wonderful. Expensive yes but it’s great. I’ve been to Hawaii in every month, two to three times a year for some 40 years to visit family
Thanks for the info!! Any tips for going in mid November?
Mid November is the start of the best weather, it’s a good time to go. While it’s still low season watch your dates as there is a spike up around thanksgiving. Keep in mind Hawaii is still having a problem getting people back to work. So make any dinner reservations at least 2-3 days ahead of time. Before you leave isn’t too soon. As for any activities make those 2-3 weeks if not a month ahead. Have fun
@@edwardv1219 oh awesome, great advice! Thanks!!
shoot, my family is going in August 😅
I kinda like the high humidity and heat but I don’t know why
I really enjoyed your video guys; it was very informative. My husband and I will be in Oahu from 3/12 - 3/18 this year, my brother and sister-in-law will join un on her birthday 3/14, on 3/18 we will fly to Maui and my sister will fly in on that day and meet us at OGG, we'll fly home to Texas on 3/25. It's actually a blessing that we get to spend all that time on the 2 islands, my husband cleans 3 vacation homes for a doctor and her husband, and they asked us in July if we wanted to stay at their time share properties in Hawaii (Marriott's), you can imagine our excitement! so our accommodations are paid for, we just have to fork out for food, car rental, flight, etc..... I still can't believe we're going to Hawaii! I wanted to share that with you.
Have a wonderful time! Lodging is the biggest cost so enjoy the ride! Checkout House Without a Key at the Halekulani for happy hour and live music and hula for her birthday.
Subscribed!!! ❤️
Thank you.
We had to cancel our Springbreak trip, but we re-booked for Thanksgiving. Fingers crossed we can go!!! :)
Great video, my wife and I loved October, the Maui Fair, Upcountry was beautiful and I feel like the Road to Hana was less crowded.
Doing the road to Hana when it's less crowded is a huge plus! And we love Thanksgiving time out here too - I hope it works out!
We always travel end of Sept to mid October. You are so right about travel in October! It is the best time to visit Hawaii. Although, we just booked a trip to the big island in late April. I have never traveled in April and never been to the big island so hoping for the best! We are celebrating my dad's 90th birthday! If you have any tips, please share! Thank you for sharing your knowledge of the island. It's appreciated 🙏
Congrats on booking a trip for your dad's 90th. The Big Island will be an adventure for the whole family. April has great weather but watch the surf advisories as there can still be big waves in April. Check out our 1-day in Hilo itinerary because Hilo has a lot to offer but it is best to stay on the leeward side of the island. thehawaiivacationguide.com/what-can-you-do-in-hilo-for-the-day/. Check out our Around the Big Island video if you haven't yet, it shows our favorite places to visit. Have a great trip and thanks for watching!
GREAT video!! We were planning a trip to Hawaii in May next year. It'll be my parents 40th wedding anniversary.. It'll be my wife and I, my parent's and some of her family. How would you rate May overall for snorkeling, hiking and other activities? You have a new subscriber too! Much respect and support from Yuma, AZ. 👍👍
We are so excited to go! We are still ironing out the details but we will there in September!
have a great trip! book early as it is busy this summer and early fall.
Haha our honeymoon for 10/25-11/6 is feeling like a good move ✌🏻😝
First 2 weeks of May is my favorite time!
May is GREAT!
thats great to hear! If all goes well I'll have my first ever visit this comming early May.
@@TheHawaiiVacationGuidehello, where're you watching from?
I plan on going for the first time for Memorial day weekend end of May!!

I'm happy with our september :)
wise choice
Ok Sept is hot 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thank You great video 👌👌👌
God bless stay safe ☝️☝️☝️
thanks for watching!
Terrific advice, and kudos for supplying graphics to support your recommendations.
We're big fans of Maui in February since the whales are just everywhere and it offers the biggest contrast in weather compared to where we're escaping from (ditching the heart of Chicago winter in favor of a Wailea beach is the best kind of culture shock.) All of your arguments against December seem reasonable... but we're still hoping to see Christmas in Hawaii sometime in the next few years. The very valid negative aspects will hopefully be outweighed by the positives.
We were a little harsh on late December. Christmas is special in Hawaii. Watch this video on Christmas in Hawaii! ua-cam.com/video/CLB3S7UFQ1M/v-deo.html
Def go in dec you won’t regret it
I only want to got to Hawaii when the weather is bad in Seattle. May through September is totally out for my family. Late October it is. Thanks for the great advice.
I'm going on Thanksgiving day which happens to be my bday ❤ thanks for the info 🙂
Have a great birthday and Hawaii vacation!
I like to go to Oahu at the end of April through the beginning of May because of the Spam Jam and to celebrate Cinco do Mayo. Also, the kids are still in school and the weather is great.
See you there!🙌🏽😎
@@JoyRideJay11 We aren't going to make it this year in April, but if the restrictions loosen we will go later in the year. My husband and I are both fully vaccinated, and we're hoping Hawaii will change the rules to let vaccinated people in. We'll be there April, 2022! If you are going, have fun, and have a mai tai for me!
