This is one of the perils of trying to run your own brand as a large indie vtuber. People take advantage of you and you have to do everything yourself when certain things go wrong. Which is why you don't see more of the big time Vtubers from Hololive and Niji just up and leave their company despite the drawbacks of being in one, it's a huge headache to have to deal with. It's not impossible but it's just something many Vtubers don't want to have to deal with while on top, having to stay entertaining and come up with content. It's also why Linus from LTT went and hired a CEO for his company instead of running it himself. He just wants to make content and not have to deal with the day-to-day stuff and its the same with most Vtubers.

Was there not a contract in place that denoted that your hot sauce company owns any hot sauce that it paid for? VTubers you are running a business at the end of the day. Please protect yourselves. As far as i know with the doki situation, the ex director actually blocked the distributor from distributing the stock they had so it was not on the distributor at fault, it was the director being an ass and holding the merch hostage as leverage for something else
I think vtubers as a whole are a young enough industry that a lot of those involved are too young and inexperienced to know why bigger and older industries work the way they do, why executives and producers and legal teams are needed and why it's a business They still feel it's a wild west type of place where you can handle things yourself and not worry about anything and thus get taken advantage of by older, more cunning people that run circles around them in the game

I know people probably bring this up but maybe in the Indie segment you guys really should say something about EvilToaster. At the very least he needs to be called out for actively telling people to not seek medical professionals to get a proper diagnosis in terms of assessing mental health. Plenty of evidence has been dropped for it so there is zero speculation; this IS something he has done. And currently it seems like he has gone radio silent and is probably hoping people just forget it happened. Why am I not surprised the Scarlings were up to something (not technically bad, we do like to support her), never change Scarlings, never change. Yeah, it was probably an automated response to it being offline, but I suspect the lack of use also had a part in it since livers don't use Twitch and the accounts are mainly for keeping the streaming name of the liver from being taken by a third party, which does work as long as the fans adhere to the official spellings to include placement or absence of special characters like underscores.

Why is Novel Horizons so concerned with expending their lineup of products when they are struggling with what they have in front of them? The yet to be released Projekt Melody figure was supposed to ship in November of 2023. I have been understanding in regards to some of their setbacks but my patience is wearing thin. I would consider getting their Henya figure if it weren't the very real possibility of all this happening again.

I fear this is just one of MANY such instances, not just in the world of vtubers, let alone entertainment.
The reality is this probs happens more often then not in those places we bros dont hear 90% of whats going on behind closed doors. Also niji 100% but did nothing to avoid pr problems
The sad thing is that the practice might be very common on the industry and its just that we caught one of the tails of it.
I get a feeling it's more like some people hide it rather then it gone unnoticed, considering how influential Yab is with Niji. And, I hope those people with face consequences too.
Well of course it would go unnoticed for 4 years, think about it Nijisanji didn't even bother to supervise their people, they let them go to that guy's music studio alone just because he was once a respected person in the industry they dropped their guard and put their people into a dangerous situation, when all of this could have been avoided if there was just someone accompanying the victims or maybe they could have just done all of those projects in house inside their own studio, I'm sure that a multi billion dollar company could afford to do that right? I mean, They have always boasted as the best and biggest vtuber agency ain't no way they would just neglect their people? Lmao
This is one of the perils of trying to run your own brand as a large indie vtuber. People take advantage of you and you have to do everything yourself when certain things go wrong. Which is why you don't see more of the big time Vtubers from Hololive and Niji just up and leave their company despite the drawbacks of being in one, it's a huge headache to have to deal with. It's not impossible but it's just something many Vtubers don't want to have to deal with while on top, having to stay entertaining and come up with content. It's also why Linus from LTT went and hired a CEO for his company instead of running it himself. He just wants to make content and not have to deal with the day-to-day stuff and its the same with most Vtubers.
I dont get why NOVEL has not realized that SETH might not actually be working for Grimmi. Why cant they confirm if they have her inventory or nout most of what they are saying just sounds like a run around. DID they take her money and then never actually make her sauce? Did they pocket her money? Why cant they just talk to her herself since its her product.

-Why was there not a clause in the contract with the distributor on what would happen if they failed to distribute the product within a reasonable timeframe/at all? This should be monetary in nature and include a section that returns the products to you in the case of a breach of contract.

@braddl9442 But that exactly why you need a contract. Sure, if you give them money and they do nothing you'll win in court but they can play these games before. If you have a contract with explicit dates and expectations and penalties for violating them it's much much much faster and easier.
As far as i know with the doki situation, the ex director actually blocked the distributor from distributing the stock they had so it was not on the distributor at fault, it was the director being an ass and holding the merch hostage as leverage for something else
I think vtubers as a whole are a young enough industry that a lot of those involved are too young and inexperienced to know why bigger and older industries work the way they do, why executives and producers and legal teams are needed and why it's a business
They still feel it's a wild west type of place where you can handle things yourself and not worry about anything and thus get taken advantage of by older, more cunning people that run circles around them in the game

I know people probably bring this up but maybe in the Indie segment you guys really should say something about EvilToaster. At the very least he needs to be called out for actively telling people to not seek medical professionals to get a proper diagnosis in terms of assessing mental health. Plenty of evidence has been dropped for it so there is zero speculation; this IS something he has done. And currently it seems like he has gone radio silent and is probably hoping people just forget it happened. Eviltoaster has caused real world harm to people by advocating his stance to not seek professional help and that should not be allowed to be forgotten.

iirc, those sauces were just re-badging existing product. Could be there was never any in the 'warehouse' to begin with as they figured they'd simply purchase as required to fill orders. Now there's no money to purchase anything at all. (and possibly the products they planned to re-label aren't even on the market now)

Why am I not surprised the Scarlings were up to something (not technically bad, we do like to support her), never change Scarlings, never change. Yeah, it was probably an automated response to it being offline, but I suspect the lack of use also had a part in it since livers don't use Twitch and the accounts are mainly for keeping the streaming name of the liver from being taken by a third party, which does work as long as the fans adhere to the official spellings to include placement or absence of special characters like underscores.

Why is Novel Horizons so concerned with expending their lineup of products when they are struggling with what they have in front of them? The yet to be released Projekt Melody figure was supposed to ship in November of 2023. I have been understanding in regards to some of their setbacks but my patience is wearing thin. I would consider getting their Henya figure if it weren't the very real possibility of all this happening again.
So happy to see Sunny back. I've never looked into Niji VTubers, so originally I thought she quit and was gone. When she did League content, I stumbled upon her randomly and enjoyed it a lot, watching most of her stuff coming strictly from my recommended. I found out she was Kunai only a month or two ago, and then was hit with the revelation she left Niji.
All those 3rd parties involved in that Yab thing should be named Public, who knows they're probably other artists doing this stuff too in their own studio.. disgusting.

Ideally , she just commissions her own model and concept art. Then buy that artist works. Then properly protect her IP. She’s big enough to do within a month or so.
