This is my introduction to trucking. How and why I got my licence and a little bit about my day. Hopefully this will help you to decide if you would like to become a truck driver. Maybe I’ll see you on the road soon

Thanks for sharing your story with us. Your passion for trucking shines through everything you say. I also love the professionalism that you show with your morning checks, your courteous and excellent driving - and your skill in your reversing. It’s almost an art. I hope you continue in your career and that you continue to share it with us.
    KEEP ON TRUCKING.

I’m glad you’ve never herald of drivers stealing grain etc . I have chased trucks for miles having instructed the merchants that I wanted a tare weight and then a gross , and when I have finally caught up with them found them in another farm , miles from their destinations tipping a couple of tonnes to share with a unscrupulous thriving farmer to a value of maybe £300~£500 they could do this trick several times a week . Until they got caught. But they never got away with their little scam as hard as they tried . I had them weighed in and weighed out on a local weigh bridge in my presence . They didn’t like it , but they never stole an ounce of grain from me . I’m sure drivers are honest these days. Jemma I think you’re a great asset to haulers , polite , helpful and kind . I had a concrete yard about a acre for trucks to unload ferts , chems and load grains , but several times believe it or not I was threatened if I made them go to tare or gross . As I said hopefully things are much better nowadays than in the 70s. 80s 90s and early 2000s All the best Jemma .

What an inspirational journey so far. My grandfather had a truck from when dad left school in 1967 til he died in '86. dad had to sell it because he couldn't farm and drive. Fast forward to when I left school in 93, dad bought a truck. When he died in 2018 we had 7, all on agricultural haulage like you. I had to sell them because I couldn't run them and the farm, and it didn't make enough to pay someone to fill the gap. My daughters are 12 and 15, who knows what the future holds! Keep on truckin Jemma, great videos, thank you.

Brilliant, Jemma, as always! You seem to be both artistic and meticulous at the same time. Being an electrical engineer with a keen interest in sustainable technology I can quite agree that the next 20 years will be exciting. Electric trucks are introduced now and eTrailers next year. I imagine, as soon as charging points are built (Gridserve etc) Wains will save a lot of money running on more electricity and less diesel.

you have me hooked, just for the humanitarian aid to Ukraine,as a Amateur radio operator i always strive to contact as many Ukrainian operators as possible, currently most of the western side of Ukraine are back on the airwaves, although still not floating about is the group of 10 Ukrainian merchant seamen (different ships though) who used to be quite active, 1 in particular i had a contact with him waiting in the pull on the Suez canal and 2 days later he was waiting for the fuel bowser anchored off of Gibraltar, you have my respect for the humanitarian aid trip Bravo Jemma :) :)

Just stumbled upon your channel Jemma.. I love your optimism and cheerfulness - and the fact you have been really successful as a class 1 driver - and you don't have to put up with the indignity of RDCs!! I've had my class 1 for too long now, and i still use it from time to time. If all driving jobs were as yours, I'd do it full time!! Sadly, beating up and down the motorways from one RDC to the next isn't all that much fun - even if the pay has improved. But trucking is what you make of it - and you've made a real splash!
Completely agree regarding driverless vehicles. I wouldn't worry, it will only take a few litigation cases to cool the ardour for them. The trouble now is that a lot of those making the rules do not understand some people actually enjoy driving. They enjoy engines. There may be a small risk attached, but we don't stop using staircases because one day we might fall down and break our necks! The driverless vehicles are about control, and I sincerely hope for future generations' sake they don't become the norm.
Just subscribed! Keep up the good work! Your channel is really helping to dilute my cynicism for the industry !;-)

Fantastic story and soooo watchable.. pointing out the freedoms we enjoy in the uk is gratefulness and I hope i remains. It’s all very worrying in 2023. I feel very controlled nowadays. I have just dealt with probate for my parents and the level of control is horrible plus Vat on everything even when you’re gone. Motorists are persecuted in every way they can be as are such easy targets. I feel about ICE the same as you. Find an alternative but don’t scare the crap out of people in the change.

Sadly society dogma is deeply entrenched with what’s classed as normal and women in the truck driving profession has always been the worst because it’s always been classed as a man’s job..
I personally know a female hgv driver and she is as good at this job as any guy infact on some points a lot better than most of the guys I’ve known in the 27 years I’ve been in this industry..
I’ve been and worked europe for a Swiss company and a couple of the Dutch companies and thats how i ended up freinds with her because we both relate to each other’s journey in this industry…
I personally think it’s fabulous to see women getting into this industry because it’s not just a man’s job it’s for anyone who wants to give it a go and your doing a fabulous job Jemma infact I’m subbed now following your journey in this industry..
I can say a lot has changed for me in 27 years I’ve seen so much change in the industry some of it not so good but i still go out and crack on with it mainly because it’s all I’ve known for the best part of my life and I have some fab memories of all the people I’ve met and the laughs we had along the way and despite spending the best part of my life apart from my family I can honestly say I have no regrets whatsoever..
I just work a day job now and sleep in my own bed every night and that suits me for what I want now…
Life is about learning and making memories and I always say live your best life story not someone elses because it’s you that writes the script to your personal journey and you seem well happy with how its going so don’t change a thing jus keep on trucking girl👍

Very interresting to hear about your thoughts about the future of the trucking business. Yes there will be some quite dramatic changes if they decide have only electric trucks instead of deasel. But for us who lives where it can get very cold -35 C, or colder. There aren´t many old truckers who belive in electric truck will have any impact of the trucks in anear future. they just don´t think they are reliable. Also very interresting to see under what conditions you work. I so far followed truckers like Trucker Cassie, Shelby (happines by the miles) and wona Blecharczyk. Since i really do agree what she has to say about the conditions about being out on the roads down on the continent. But it was really nicelisten to yuo, have seen some of your vlogs and i admire you skill on those narrow road. Stay safe on the road and happy x-mas

    Hello from Australia.
Almost 30 years driving, 25 of them on fuel in Queensland.
By the look of your truck interior, you like red. God help the relief driver who is in it when your on holidays. :)
I've watched a number of your videos, I'm impressed with your skill and patience in tight situations on farms and the yard where you tipped the clay. (bloody hell, what a mess of a place).
Over here, most long distance tippers off farms etc are BDoubles and roadtrains with American trucks predominantly. However, Volvo (mainly) and Scania are starting to make inroads.
You have certainly blinged up your truck well, the painting on the rear of the cab is impressive.
Does the Scania have an ice pack for sleeping in the heat? It seems to have everything thing else.
I hope you do well and good luck in the future.
PS, what's with the Caterpillar TShirt? Your driving a Scania, mate. Be loyal to big V8....:)

    • @jemmawarren27
      @jemmawarren27  Рік тому +1

Fuel must be interesting especially in a hot country like Australia. Red is popular here and also I goes with the company livery. We follow a very Dutch style here. I have been to American and have seen how differently interesting the trucks are there. Interesting to know you are starting to get scania.
We don’t really have CAT engines in our trucks here just in our plant machinery.
My gramps was a bid CAT fan so it’s more of a nod to him ☺️ thanks for your message and watching my videos ☺️

Great introduction to trucking and you are an inspiration. Have to disagree on the smell of diesel though 😖 Its foul. I've spent most if my life as a mechanic and have never got used to the smell of diesel, or petrol for that matter, yuk.

Lovely truck credit to you. How hard is it to wire the front led marker lights. Our mechanics always to busy cause we break everything.

Well one thing for certain is. You certainly do love your job. I love the story of how you got into the trade and the fact that you proved people wrong about fulfilling your dream. I work on the railways and even though I cover a certain set of routes and can do the same trains 3 days in a row. each day is different and I do get so see some beautiful scenery. I love that more women are coming into male dominated jobs and in my opinion most women can be better than the blokes

Jemma , the trucking industry can never use EV trucks because the batteries for a 40 tonne truck would weigh around 8 tonnes as far as I understand from Lord Bamford . But , I do stand to be corrected. Again , you’re a great asset to your industry.😘

I think ype forgot a very important person: your husband / partner. Not only support, but trust. Most men wouldn't have their attractive wife working in a rough industry and sleeping "in the wild".
