    I had the 1st generation of the G7 X and though I’d always like taking photos, mainly snapshots, on holiday, days out etc I’d never taken it any further. I actually won the G7 X, just by filling in an online form for the Independent Newspaper, it was the presets on this camera that got me into photography proper if you will and especially Street Photography, when I fell in the river and ruined all my gear this was in my pocket, I couldn’t afford to replace it with the insurance, not along with my XT3, still miss it today. I’ve heard the MKii is great but only complaints about the MKiii.

      It's a sweet little camera, might have to shoot more with it as I really only use it for vlogging and b roll. That sounds like my worse nightmare

    • @bcegerton

      @@benhammedia9940 Before I won it I was looking for a new compact, it was a nightmare trying to find one with a viewfinder, not a chance. I did get a new compact which I had for about 4 months before I won, wish I still had it as I've started collecting cameras, mainly film ones but I do have a digital Kodak I bought in 2003. It's tiny, thought it still worked but it doesn't for some reason.

    I love my G7Xii! It's really packed with features for such a small camera and the software is excellent (but not surprising, Canon is good at software). Possibly my favourite surprise feature is the fact that it tells you the full-frame equivalent focal length when you use the stepped zoom function of the front ring. That feature alone has made it vastly more appealing for me to use in place of a more "proper" photography camera. It's also amazingly solid to hold and operate one-handed because of the very well-designed front and rear grips.
    Highly recommended. Just be a bit careful in dusty environments (or dusty pocketses!) because the moving lens assembly can get dust inside fairly easily. I also recommend getting one of those ebay tempered glass screen protectors. It feels a lot less breakable with that small addition.

    The one thing which I feel is SO important with these small cameras is to shoot all of those lower light compositions with the 2second timer on. You can get rid of all camera shake from triggering the shutter.

    I am a newbie to photography. I have made up my mind to get mark 2. Does launch year matter as it was launched in 2016 and could give some problems for servicing and all??

      It's a very good camera to start you off with if you are looking for a good point and shoot camera. 2016 is when it came on the market. I got mine new in 2019 so I assume they are still manufacturing them even though the mark 3 is out. I feel you shouldn't have any issues

    Thank you so much for this very inspiring video. I have just recentliy been gifted this wonderful camera and my love for photography has increased greatly with it's usage. The camera's setup allows for an easy transition from auto" to "manuel" mode, making taking pics way more fun and creative. One thing I would love to know though, taking pictures of building, I keep getting a pyramid effect. Is there a way to fix this without having to buy/rent a tilt-shift-lens or having to purchase a corrective program?

    Are these photos straight out of the camera? I saw another video where the guy said "this camera gives out a film look" what do you have to say about it and what has your experience been like?? Does the pictures look anywhere close to film-like?

      @benhammedia9940  Рік тому +3

      Hey, no these are slightly edited. The only photo I didn't edit was the wide shot of Waterloo bridge. I personally wouldn't say it gives a film look but there are some in camera settings that could give you one so maybe that's what they were talking about. Hope that helps ✌️

    • @benhammedia9940
      @benhammedia9940  2 роки тому

      On paper there isn't much difference but for me looking at them side by side I would pick the G7X as it has a tilt screen and focal length, aperture and zoom is a bit better. So for the little extra in price feel it's a better option

    which settings did you use i’m new with these camera stuff i just bought id for fun and sometimes i get incredible pictures and sometimes i get like camera phone picture, i don’t know what setting to use C, TV , P , SCN , M. and also sometimes the flash works and sometimes it doesn’t. :( (i’m very new and i have no idea using cameras)

      Starting out can feel like a lot. The settings can feel like you need a new degree but it's a lot easier than you think. I have a few videos that can help. But for now, start to learn the photography triangle (shutter speed, aperture, ISO) and how they work. As you learn them I use Tv (shutter priority) or Av (aperture priority) and get used to just having fun shooting

    Is the iii worth the extra bit or is the ii plenty sufficient for a newbie hobbyist? I really like the feel of the ii, and don't see much improvements to the iii.

    • @benhammedia9940
      @benhammedia9940  2 роки тому

      Well that does depend. For a hobbyist I think the Mii will be just fine. What I can see as an advantage to buying the Miii is: 4K video, faster shutter speed, better ISO and there is a mic input for better audio for videos. But that's all video, if you are only looking at photos the specs look the same

    I’m planning on buying canon g7x mark ii because I love vlogging my life for myself and I also love taking pictures so would you recommend me buying the g7x mark ii or the canon g7x mark iii, I’m really confused because I’ve seen a lot of videos about both of these cameras and I don’t know which one would be the best for me also it would be my very first camera and I really want to buy from canon cuz of the flip screen you know? Anyways I love the video and really great, cinematic pictures.
