THANK YOU to everyone who joined my live premiere and chatted with me! That was fun! I will for sure do another one, most likely on the last day on trail video. HAPPY TRAILS and keep on trucking!
My favorite video of yours! It was so beautiful, it made me tear up, especially when you said it was a "great soul day." I had one of those today, too, although I didn't have to work nearly as hard for mine as you did! Thank you for taking us on your adventures with you.
Wow wow wow, so many wow moments. The cloud on the mountain in the distance, the colours of the bushes, the high lake in the mountains and I'm only 12 minutes into it!!
A lot of hikers have shown Knife's Edge from a distance and from the approach. This was the best ever! Epic views. Felt like we were there with you. Even love the wind noise to bring the experience home. Well done!
Thank you for both the video and the chat. Spectacular views and good conversation. I loved the Dr. Seuss remark because you looked to be channeling your inner Who.
Knife's Edge is just too scary even to watch in someone else's camera. I hurt my head climbing the Eiffel Tower in 1973 suffering acrophobia thereafter, even now avoiding stairs without a railing. Those drops could literally give me nightmares. I already have had such nightmares in past years. But you are truly brave.
Yes! Goat Rocks! I have not been there but is on my list for next summer! Glorious! Sorry I missed the live chat but I just enjoy the videos. I have hiked in California, Oregon and Warshington but have to say I am partial to Warshington. The Mt. Adams area is amazing but so is the North Cascades. Thank you for sharing!
Great video. Thank you for spending so much time filming this area. I've been through much of Washington but never knew this area existed or was so beautiful.
Wow, that area is spectacular! Also, I could almost feel the cold blasting on you on the Knife’s Edge, so much so that I had to go put on a sweater, haha!
One of the greatest amongst so many great videos. Goat Rocks looks so stunning and I love the way that you love it so much. Not a hint of trail fatigue on show despite all those (s)miles.
Thank you so much for sharing the Goat Rocks. I feel like a lot of otjer through hikers almost skip WA because it is the last state and you covered ot and showed how awesome it is here! :-)
Thank you for allowing me to watch your videos . And now I have made up my mind . And now I am going to reserch what I need to make this trip and see for myself how wonderful it would be . again thank you
Thxs for this segment! Sept 30, 2017 had snow heading N to Cispus Pass. Next day had to bail b4 xrossing KE due to 12 hour snow storm. Went bk Aug 2018 to try KE again SB. Much cloud fog slight rain, then cleared after xrossing KE. All I know is fog. Congrats on your lifetime accomplishment!
Thanks, this was really, really beautiful. About the wind taking your words: not to worry, I think I get the gist. Brave woman at times elated, at times scared by all that overwhelming nature. Reminds me of some cheesy lyric of 30 yrs ago, 'when the dancer becomes the dance'. Onward to Canada!
Oh I can't wait , by the thumbnail at least it was sunny . My first hike next spring but do I want to start at White Pass or do the easy and short route from Snowgrass Flat?
Hi again, Jenn... Thanks for doing the live chat! Was hard to watch vid & chat, so watching the vid again now. My hiking has been mostly here up north, but Goat Rocks look great. It would make the trail much more difficult, but north of Glacier Peak Wilderness, the trail doesn't actually go thru the North Cascades. It does follow the divide between east and west flowing drainages, but the North Cascades are a different animal. Always, looking forward to the next one, and take care, Skagit Ed
Beautiful. Goat Rocks Wilderness was certainly Good to you that day girl. And at the perfect time of year too. That country can make Anyone feel Spiritual. Life Is Good!
Beautiful video! Sorry to miss your chat, had a rehearsal for this week's gig. The Old Snowy and Knife's Edge scenes were great, it's obvious how much you enjoyed those views and the trail through the area. Hearing voices in the forest is always a little creepy. Voices drift up, drift over water, drift on the wind, and sometimes it's just our minds playing tricks concatenating random noise into something we hope to recognize (or hope not to recognize, as when something goes bump in the night). Your good decision-making has guided you well this entire trek and it was correct once again at this detour. Oh, the word to describe Knife's Edge is "exposure"--for when the trail is not that dangerous itself, but wind, or ice, or fog, or loose rock would cause a life threatening situation (e.g., standing on the Ghost Bar glass floor, a slight but safe thrill; remove the glass and leave the open hike, instant high exposure!).
Hello Whimsical Woman. My wife and I really enjoy your channel. Our son who has his permit and is going to thru hike the PCT this year told us about your channel. Really fun and informative. We love you positive attitude and appreciation for living in the moment. Those moments of being scared on the trail either by cougars or by weird humans, or weird sounds in the woods, sound very unnerving and rightfully scary. Obviously, you are done with the hike and it might seem irrelevant now, but for future hikes or for your subscribers who may do the hike in the future, you might consider a couple of things that could help lower your risks and give you less fear when you are alone. Carrying a concealed weapon is one. More and more women carry a concealed weapon now. In some states, like California, it is difficult for a woman or man to do so because of their laws. But many states like Washington are a lot more friendly to allowing law abiding citizens like you to protect yourself with a weapon when hiking alone. The other thing that can help is basic empty-hand self-defense training. I recommend you try Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Where ever you live there is likely a good gym that teaches BJJ. Lots of women now train in this art/sport and it is the best for building real skills that work especially for smaller people to fight against bigger people. It is really fun and a great workout. And the people who train are super-nice and fun to be around. Since you are obviously someone who loves to make friends and spend time with them like you did on the trail, you would love BJJ at a good gym. Just something for you and your subscribers to consider that could help in alleviating some risks and fears. Of course, the best self-defense is prevention which would mean avoiding being alone or in places where there are greater opportunities to be attacked. But that is not always possible or practical, with that in mind, those things above are known effective ways to level the playing field. Again, thank you for your creative and outstanding channel. Really good stuff.
Will be with you through this trek ,,and to the finish................................knowing these are a little behind ,you were probably in the area of Vesper Pk.,,,missing day hiker,,Samantha Sayers,,,(08/01---still missing),,,did you cross a lot of activity of those searching???
About the reroute without a map. They should have posted a better map of the reroute but if you had looked at the map on your Inreach at the correct scale you could have seen the reroute trails and water sources (lakes and creeks) in the area. Glad you made it through by Packwood Lake. The Coyote and Clear Lost trails on the official reroute are quite scenic though.
Sorry, I missed the chat Starburst, but UK time zone. Lol, Anyway another good video, shame the wind noise spoiled it a little bit, but that can't be helped when you are hiking so high up. Atb Glenn.
Trust your Inner Voice Jen. After all, if you can't trust Yourself, Who Can You Trust? Humans have built in Primal Instincts designed to help us make choices to Survive in the Wild. The Goat Rocks area is one of my most favorite places on Earth. I thoroughly enjoyed this video, Thank You. Well Done Lil' Lady. Happy Trails (I know All those Feelings & Thoughts very Well; You are a Better Person for your Journey.)
Nice. So for someone looking for a 50-70 mile section: Goat rocks, North Cascades, or southern JMT? I’ve done the JMT north from mammoth and live in SoCal, but my brother is in Portland so I’m thinking about Goat Rocks next summer...
Mountain Fisher That was my fault!! I accidentally refreshed the page and kept trying to get back in and it stopped. 😢 Next time I know to not do that lol
rusty ramrod Come on, Rusty! You can do this! 😄 The rest of this 'Video Family' has got your back. Or is this the 'Starburst Fan Club'? Lol....make yourself some popcorn 🍿 , maybe a strong cup of tea, and get ready to enjoy the Premier. This is a new feature of UA-cam, so just think.....You are living on the cutting edge of technology while Whimsical Woman is on the knife edge of a mountain! So what if you miss a little 😴 sleep, lol. It'll be worth It! 👍
Dear Karen W thanx for the encouragement...I like "Video Family"... ...this Whimsyone is a goofy kid...I hope she doesn't sing....uggg Is that 11pm eastern time...??
Oh Boy ... saw photos of Fireball & others at the North Terminus on www.trek.co - which has me just dying to know what the next 500 miles have in store for our beloved Starburst!!!
Loved your live broadcast. I feel like I'm losing part of my fear of heights watching you :-) Question. How do you carry the camera so it doesn't cause a safety danger on narrow ledges or sheer drop-offs? Do you watch your feet or the screen to see what you are filming? Inspired by your courage and sense of adventure!
The night, still, no restless stirrings. Nor of love, or breathless fury. Blue starlight pale, does strike before me, feared lonely trail. And whose wolves are these, saints come calling, Swim incensed, laughter voices mocking, Can you hear them, there, cries gentle waves, or were you listening. -jmi
I forgot to put my smiley face 😊 Glad you made it to Washington!!!! Ya!!! I don’t always comment but have been following your journey! I live in Tacoma, I’m a disabled veteran, I’ve always wanted to do the PCT! I will have to break it up into segments. I’ve had injuries to my shoulders and carrying a heavy pack ....ugh... I need REI to engineer me a pack... loved your journey and thank you for posting ❤️
epic views. would love a house there but than again no. would not spoil the views or the wilderness. it is a shame all the beautiful places in this country and only a small percentage of people will ever see them .

Wow!!!! You hiked over the Knife Edge like it was no big deal. Very brave and very strong!
Wow wow wow, so many wow moments. The cloud on the mountain in the distance, the colours of the bushes, the high lake in the mountains and I'm only 12 minutes into it!!
There was A LOT of wind on this day, so I apologize about the noise, but that's what happens when standing on top of mountains!!
The Whimsical Woman No worries! The sound will enhance the experience and make us feel like we are really there. 😁
A lot of hikers have shown Knife's Edge from a distance and from the approach. This was the best ever! Epic views. Felt like we were there with you. Even love the wind noise to bring the experience home. Well done!
Well that was an epic reroute trial I'll have to look forward to on my thru hike in 2020 . Thank you for sharing that experience
Good luck to you! I hope you have the best adventure.

Spectacular scenery, great video, you have a good eye for the beautiful and capture it so well. :)
So very sorry I missed the live showing, but still a stunningly beautiful video of the outdoors and a delightful glimpse in to your heart! 💕
That was SUCH a cool experience Starburst!!! Thanks for being there and chatting with us. You are one cool badass woman.
Loved the knife's edge - looked scary as hell, but definitely worth it (in good weather of course).

We loved this stretch when we hiked it in September. Absolutely beautiful
Wow. That knifes edge was too much for me. Not sure I could do that. Yikes. Looked tougher than Forester Pass. Beautiful views and colors.
Wow thanks for sharing this Epic day on the PCT with us! Really great vistas from the Goat Rocks Wilderness. ✨✨✨✨😍😍😍✨✨✨✨
