To my ears, this incredible tune sounds like it's from 1965 - 1966 -- like a terrific amalgam of Motown and swingin' London during the Mod era. I never left this one behind!
I met them on this recording at Decca studios, lovely ladies. This record was expected to top the charts by Decca executives, but alas it only just got into the top 40 in the UK and USA
This was a regional US hit in many markets as the song was discovered at different times over the 14 week chart history. Had airplay reports and sales been more concentrated this would have reached higher than #34 on the Billboard Hot 100
