Good call on tiptronic. The 964/993 tiptronic by ZF is one of the most durable transmissions ever made. It's cool, especially when you can buy these cars significantly cheaper because Porsche snobs don't like it. It's actually quite engaging in manual mode. D is just for cruising.
15:41 This is the Porsche Classic Radio. In 1993 i bought a 964 Jubi. You can see it on the top poster at 15:16. I ordernd it with „Radiovorbereitung“. Meaning no Radio but all the cabling is there. You can install this modern Radio without much change. Greatings from Germany. 17:18 My 964 was build in Sep 1993. one of the last ones. It has already an A/C that uses a134.
On point comments about the TipTronic transmission and the usability of the AC. I recently sent the CCU (climate control unit) on my 964 to Norway for a full rebuild, and now im back to using the car regularly, regardless of Florida summer heat! great video, one can tell you have real experience on 964's.

I appreciate your honest review of these cars, including those with an automatic. Some people with certain physical disabilities can’t drive a manual, so there’s no knocking a car with an automatic. This was an excellent crash course on the pro’s and cons of owning a 964. As a 992 4S owner I am boggled by how much you need to know before buying a 964.😳
Thank you for the video. The Carrera 4’s PDAS AWD system gets flack for being “complicated…archaic…heavy.” In reality, Porsche ditched it only to save on manufacturing costs not due to performance. The 993 was a test bed for several 996 technologies including the AWD system. Porsche ditched it on the 997 Turbo & 997.2 C4 for a setup similar to the 959’s.
The complexity of modern cars is incredible, especially with the countless sensors. The 964’s are a breath of fresh air by comparison, simple and easy to maintain. The 964 Carrera 4’s AWD is awesome, and it transforms the 911 into a Porsche that can truly be driven in any situation! Thanks for watching brother!👊👊

There is only one thing to know…. Don’t buy a Tesla.. But a 964 or a 3.2… you’ll never lose your money… will have 10.000 times more visceral pleasure… you’ll have a myth in your garage and an endless smile…
This is such great advice! I sincerely appreciate it. I really want one of these cars, but not sure I want to deal with all the extras maintenance items such as the oil leaks and the extra attention required. For reference, I drive a 96 E36 M3 Techno Violet, which is a real beauty, and was built for the American market to be as maintenance free as possible. While it shares some of the same concerns as the 964, the maintenance price is 1/3 the cost and repairs are super easy. Plus the engines are torquey, are widely available, and are known to easily reach 300k miles. Will probably still purchase a 964, but will definitely keep the E36.
E36s are incredible! My brother who has owned countless Porsche’s, he races an M3 E36!! With the euro cam’s, it’s a monster! 🚀🚀 His 4-door M3 also has over 200k+ miles, it just keeps going! That should tell you everything.. If you get a Porsche 964, keep the E36! Thanks for watching brother! 👊👊
Still the most unappreciated Porsche channel on UA-cam. As the owner of an original odd-ball colored 911 before PTS became “normal” I like to think rare colors are a bigger deal with 964s vs other 911s. But, that’s just me.
Sure, the price is almost guaranteed to go up... just remember to figure in $30,000 if the engine blows, or checks for $2,000 or $3,000 a year to keep it happy.
That’s not out of line with other cars, especially new ones. Replacing the engine on any new Honda, Ford, Dodge, and Toyota is at least $20k+ at the dealer… Maintenance will also be more after warranty expires because of the problematic electric’s. And when you factor in depreciation…it really becomes eye opening. So, it’s a deal relative to other options on the market. Thanks for watching! 👊👊

Great info! These cars were rockets even in NA form. The NA models ranged from 0-60 ranged from 4.6 to 5.5 seconds, which was very impressive the 90s.
