Hi friends! Today I'm making a bias-cut silk midi skirt using the Evie Skirt by Tessuti Fabrics. It's not perfect, but I'm making progress.

That skirt is GORGEOUS! You said it best, it’s so fluid and elegant! I totally get that when you make something the imperfections always stand out, but just so you know - I wouldn’t have even noticed the slight issues if you hadn’t pointed them out.
I’m new to sewing and watching you do something like this is so inspirational! Not to mention awe-inspiring!
Subscribing now and can’t wait to binge all your previous videos! 🫶🏻
Wow - it looks so fluid and beautiful and I love it with that Sezane top. Congratulations! I am in awe of anyone who sews with slippery fabrics! 😁
I think I remember you mentioning you making a silk bias skirt in an OLD video... I'm an old follower haha! Thanks for inspiring, girl! ❤
The skirt is lovely and looks very nice on you reminds me of what a silver screen actress would wear 😊
Aw thank you so much!! 🩷🩷🩷
I agree with this!
Gorgeous. I love the outfit you put together at the end; such an elegant look.
I find it easier when cutting out on the true bias in slippery fabrics to mirror the pattern pieces to have a whole rather than half to work with on the flat fabric. That way you don't need to flip it and risk misaligning it or disturbing the fabric. You can trace the pattern piece on a large folded piece of paper, or print it out twice, flip one copy and stick it together in the middle.
Thank you so much, and thank you for the fantastic advice!! I’ll definitely follow that next time!
The skirt turned out fantastic! It suits you very well! To stabilize the side seams you have to put strips of fusible interfacing. Then you will avoid the wave effect on the side seams. You must also cut the zipper leaving 2-3 centimeters from its end. It will not inflate like it does now. Please excuse my English, in case of my mistakes, it's not my mother language! My best wishes from Greece!I really like your videos, the music is so relaxing!
This is so helpful, thank you so much for the suggestions! I’ll keep them in mind for my next attempt! 🩷 So glad you like the videos, and thank you for the kind comment!
Girl, look at you facing your fears, it looks stunning!! You little French girl inspired, you. 😘 And your dining room is looking darling, can’t wait to see it all done!!

Thank you so much Joanne!
That is a great idea the paper while cutting slippery fabric. Did you use polyester thread with that? Beautiful skirt❤❤❤ another great creation.
Thank you so much! I did use poly thread- which I didn’t think about until now! 😅 Must try silk next time 🩷
@@LaurenJohnson never used silk will try also
What a beautiful skirt! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for watching!!
Beautiful job of the skirt, not easy to sew with silk on the bias, it looks lovely, Deb 🪡🧵💕
Thank you so much Deb! That means a lot!!
Your skirt is beautiful and really lovely with the top.
Thank you so much Lynda! 🩷
came out stunning !!
Very pretty. Well done. When I am hanging bias overnight I will add pegs along the hanger so that there is less weight relying on just the 2 clasps.
BTW hello from Australia, I am old enough to be your mother and really enjoy watching your channel as one of daughters has your aesthetics xxx
Thank you so much Alexandra! Keeping that tip in mind for next time too! I’m so glad you enjoy watching my channel- sending best wishes to you in Australia! 🩷
Thank you for those moments of pure hapiness in a world of crazyness...

Absolutely stunning!! You look amazing in it. I love that tissue paper trick. Maybe that will help me in my quest to make a bias cut skirt! Thank you so much for sharing!!
Thank you so much Dianne! It really helped so much! I’m excited to try again and get even better at it!
Very nice ❤.
Thank you Kathryn! 🩷
You may or may not find this helpful but what I do when I am cutting out a pattern piece that needs to be flipped over when cutting out is to mark a 90 degree angle straight line that you need to flip around like an axis first. If you cut one side, flip the pattern then cut out the other side it is possible to either end up making it 14:46 wider or more narrower. This is hard to put into words. I hope you can figure out what I mean.
Can anyone have too many bias skirts? I love them and want one in various colors and lengths. Thank you for this video.
I agree, I think I’m hooked! I want to do one in a pattern with a longer length too 😊 Thank you so much for watching! 🩷
I t hink your skirt turned out amazing and you always do such great work. Is that fabric dry clean only?
Thank you so much Cindy! I will hand wash it as I usually have good luck with hand washing this type of fabric 🩷
