What a lovely gem. I hope the new owner gets it a proper service and let's a firm or something polish it.
Just purchased this exact car in Burnaby BC
I don't know how to read this SHEET

vtec will eventally kick in 😀
Very good example of this British built Civic.
ik its personal preference but whats the point of importing a civic like that, I mean we already have the ep3 si version of that car here in the us/Canada, so why go to thru the trouble of importing its bone stock economy variant???
I know this is an old comment I'm replying to,
but the reason for that could be because: they had these in 4x4 version with the D17A engine, and also in CVT if you are into that, but most but not all, (especially 4x4 version) are Automatics, the base models without fancy 4x4 or anything of the sort could be manual.
All of those versions mentioned were JAPAN exclusive unfortunately. Otherwise it's just for the fact if it's a 2000-2002 (I belive it was up until 2002?) it could be true JDM car, instead of made in Swindon, England or in various other places in the world, which is always quality wise the best option.
Same as if you want a German car, you'd want it to be made in Germany.
Other than that, on my knowledge; I dont know if there are interior differences or many other differences, other than this one on the exterior seems to have that bumper antenna, which is quirky and strange. Not in my liking. Some do appear to have factory set early 2000's touchscreens, that's something to mention, but mostly not all of them.
If you dont plan on a engine swap, with these cars and want a challenge; keep it single jingle, that D17A is the best version out of D17's, as it's the JDM one, D16 on the other hand is a different matter.
nice potential 4 door type R hatch candidate
I look forward to more videos.Keep it up!
JDM TREE :D
WHATT why does this have a arm rest and my dc5 integra doesn't !
As long as socks are matching color they are good 2 go. 😄
i work for Honda in Swindon and we made the two door si and sir hatchbacks for Canada and the US backbone the early to mid 2000's
Adam Roughton the 7th gen si civic coupe in Canada is just a civic ex it has nothing different.
i wonder if you made my civic si :)
Thank you for making my 5 door EU8!
Is that a uk built car
No Its a Japanese built car, because Honda is Japanese
bLueDraGnoz5363 no uk spec of this shape are built in the uk.honda built lots of cars in the uk and America you fuck
My money is that this is built in Swindon
bLueDraGnoz5363 ignorant af
What auction is this Civic bought from? Honda Auto Auction? Never heard about it.Is this an auction specialised in Honda cars? Does this auction belong to the Honda Motor company ltd.?
Have the same Honda, color as well... Also paint damage, but she goes like a dream.. Love the everything about the car
Looks more like a Fit Extra large than a Civic. I don't know how it is to drive it, but brings my sleep back just look at it...
3:07 cheeky rx7 in the reflection :)
isnt that the D17A2?
ls7orBust yea thought so, my 2005 Civic coupe has the D17A2
Bought just one like this as my first car. Could be the most boring car in the world. But so far has never let me down apart from blown tire.
Hey pacific coast auto I'm looking for a skyline r34 4dr what should I be looking for cost
This vehicle was never sold in Canada. Only the hatch back version.
Why is the centre belt only a lap belt where in the uk where the car is made you get a 3 point centre belt
Andddd someone else would claim this is a EP3 with a ruce exhaust
is that a w202 mercedes benz c43 amg??
Probably been sitting in a garage for 10+ years.
@9:17 Perfectish on the other hand is not oxymoronic.
the worst civic ever made....why would anybody want to import this...oh well
because its reliable, and it has so little kilometers.
Derek would you be interested in a 2001 Nissan Wingroad?
5speed manual transmission base model with 62k on the odometer.
5 speed manual station wagons sound awesome.
This engine is a d series, the fit has an l series. Not sure of all the differences but i dont believe they share any components
Rj Echols this engine looks the same as the d17 I'm sure they share many parts including transmission.
i wonder if the engine having only 15k on it could be a bad thing ? like damage it from lack of use and having the oil sit in it for so long etc
In my experience, the only harm I have seen is bad fuel and/or condensation in the tank causing bad performance or failed fuel systems. So far I have not seen engines dry out, but perhaps those cars don't end up at the auction. Good question.
and it costed 300$
weird it's like a civic SI hatchback with 4 doors maybe this was when they were designing the Honda fit/jazz
It's is the same as the Civic Si. I've got the 1.7 in Australia. The U.S only got the two door Si. Australia got both the 4 door 1.7 V-TEC engine and the Type R variant of the Civic. The Type R had an additional 40 hp on top of the Si with more aggressive driving dynamics. The U.S got the odd one out of the Civic lineup.
@@jakejohns3463 here in the U.S we have the hatch civic si but we can always convert it to a complete type R
Very nice car!
They didn't sell this exact car in Canada but remember the EP3 civic SIR we had? Those were related, they appear to have the same dash as this and a very similar front end. Interesting fact of those EP3 is that they were all made by Honda UK. Maybe this hatch is also manufactured in the UK?
NightRush they made these in sir guise? Is that a rebadged type s or is it different?
I think you're right about them being made in the uk, we definitely built the uk spec which is very similar, but whether we built the japan spec idk. I don't the ones we have over here have flat floors though, will have to check next time I see one.
Also derek, I'm fairly sure that thing in the front you folded down was an armrest.
NightRush the only civics we exported to Japan was the type r
Adam Roughton Was the Type R the only trim of the ep3 chassis available in Japan?
Not sure what was made locally but the only ones we exported were type r. I guess with the corner stick thing this was a locally made car
Interestingly the Japanese Wikipedia mentions that both the EU and EP chassis cars were manufactured in Swindon UK and imported. ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%83%9B%E3%83%B3%E3%83%80%E3%83%BB%E3%82%B7%E3%83%93%E3%83%83%E3%82%AF#.E6.AC.A7.E5.B7.9E.E4.BB.95.E6.A7.98_EU.2FEP.E5.9E.8B.EF.BC.882001-2005.E5.B9.B4.EF.BC.89
Never heard of the 1500cc engine
d15?
They sold this car in the USA but in a 2 door might be the same for Canada
not sure they're the same. This is the Europe build version ...
They only sold the 2 door of these as the Si in the USA and SiR in Canada which is basically an EP3. I really wish we have more of the EP2 as well as the EUs in North America along with the EM2, ES1, and ES2s.
I've got the (almost) exact car, mine has the 1.6 vtec engine in it and is a 2003.If you've never driven one, don't knock them, they are smooth as, really easy to drive and when you put your foot down, can be fun too.If you like Honda cars, but the girlfriend/wife is pregnant, get one of these. You won't be disappointed by the performance. (Even the automatic is quite quick of the mark...)
wayne chadwick I have the same 1.6 and yes they are good fun! Bit of a grannie machine but still ! Plus a 2002 type r bumper fits pretty easily
out of all the cars in Japan. You chose this??
Mr.Awesomness! Some people don't have deep pockets. Fast JDM stuff are absolute money pits. Sometimes it's nice to have JDM and not have it carry a heavy burden on finances.
Good answer.
Also, there are far more non-enthusiast car buyers than there are enthusiast car buyers. Most people want something on the boring but reliable side.
PacificCoastAuto hey Derek how much will a r34 gts-t or a Gtr will cost ? and do you guys ship to the middle East?
PacificCoastAuto This too. I see alot if Mini-Vans in the UK here, clearly bought because they offer a unique blend of car that the UK market doesn't have. Yet another reason.
How can they drive a right hand drive car in Canada. ..its wrong side of the road for them
In Canada you can import anything 15 years or older
Kevin Favron ...wow...do they change them over to left and drive ?
You can keep them right I used to have a 91 skyline GTR
Kevin Favron thanks gor the info...I live in australia and I don't think we can take a left hand drive to aust...need to be converted to right hand drive...I would love to buy a rv in the usa and tour for 6 months then take it back to Aust but not able to convert..
ken diment By the looks of it as long as the RV is under 4.5 tons you should be fine www.shipoverseas.com/blog/3-australian-states-take-on-left-hand-drive-vehicles/
dont buy cdti versions of this civic, well at least you love problems mainly defected turbos(going trought the 3rd one right now)
The cdti versions at that time were not Honda diesels. The first diesel developed by Honda was the 2.2 i-cdti which was introduced in 2003 in the Honda Accord! The cdti's in these generation Civics were developed by Isuzu. The 2.2 i-cdti is a very reliable engine. Maybe the best diesel engine ever made!
anfahrt 1.9 tdi is the best Diesel ever
Nothing can beat the 1.9TDI :)
I've had my 2003 1.7 CDTi for ten years. It has covered 177 000 miles without any major problems.
It also depends upon how an engine is treated. If an engine is maintained well and driven carefully after a cold start it can last a long time.
Why in the hell does my ep3 not have an arm rest like this!?!
Hahaha same
