    These 170i versions were sold in abundence out here in South Africa. South African manufacturing plants took alot of libities with their cars though lol. When we didn't get a certain varient of a car we made our own and sold it to the public. We never got the E30 M3.. So we dropped a bigger 3.0L i6 in the E30 and called it the 333i. We even produced the MK1 Golf for years after it was cancelled by VW.. So long infact that the Mk5 and Mk1 rolled out of the factory together here. So Our version of this civic could solely be because we also manufactured the 170i sedan version out here, so we must've thrown the engine over into the Civic because we never got a sport version.

    CVT transmissions on these are awful they stutter on take off. Engine ok, drives like a honda.. fuel economy actually not that good. Avoid this transmission or better yet buy a 90's nissan/toyota

    Used to own the (EDM) Type R version of this generation. Such a fun and practical car and in my opinion in Type R or sport trim stil looks good by todays standard.

    Wow this Civic is clean as the Accord of my mother and because of that I want one of these, this kind of cars are extremely comfortable if you keep all intact even when they have more than 10 years old

    I can kinda understand people importing cars like four-door Skylines with basic 2-litre engines - not particularly special in the greater scheme of things, but a bit of JDM cool at least. But a fairly basic five-door Civic is a peculiar thing indeed to want to import. Maybe I see too many of the things here in the UK but it has to be among the least interesting Civics ever created...

      Let me give you some facts
      A 2 liter Non turbo R32 is Shit compared to a civic like this

      Yeah bit boring compared to what's normally on here but one man's trash is another man's treasure. Mate of mine paid £750 for one like this one few years ago and it's solid, bit battered but it's realible.

    We had the SIR in Canada. Two door hatch back. Never a four door. We also had the sedans and coupes which looked totally different then this one. I’m assuming this was built in the UK.

    Never seen the 4 door version in this. It looks like the late 2000's Nissan Versa on the outside.

    These are available in AWD in Japan. Considered one briefly, but opted for an AWD bB instead.

    We didn't get 4 door hatchback Civics in Canada, only 2 door. It really reminds me of a slightly larger Fit

    Isn't this the Euro Spec civic? i'm sure you could get a 1,7 here too

    • @R33Racer
      @R33Racer 5 років тому +1

      No, we only got the 1.4, 1.6 and 2.0 IIRC.

    • @tharmas13
      @tharmas13 5 років тому +1

      I know in the Netherlands the coupe had a 1.7 (125 hp) in it. The 3 and 5 door hatch got a 1.4 (90 hp) or 1.6 (110 hp), a 2.0 (160 hp) in the 5 door or the 2.0 (200 hp) in the 3 door Type R and then there also was a 1.7 diesel. The 4 door sedan only came in a 1.5 hybrid.

      In Japan it would have been crushed with 50k miles and no rust. Better to use it up somewhere else.

    When Honda went into strange mode and their car quality seemed to start to fall in the 2000s:( I think they are starting to make better cars now with the new Civic and Accord but it took well over a decade.

    • @chrisburton6481
      @chrisburton6481 5 років тому

      These ep civics quality is the same as eg and ek civics, fn stepped up the interior quality but no change. All I know is I've had my ep3 6 years and only needed rear calipers replacing, done 60k in that time and it's on near on 130k and never failed a yearly m.o.t test, got mates in bmws of the same age rusting away and breaking all the time, bear in mind ep3 brand new was 16k and a 330i was a 30+k. Each to their own but these cars are solid.

      @zeroyon223 where are you from mate? I'm in uk, that small rainy island that salts the roads at the hint of abit of ice, so shit loves to rust here and e46's and e36 love to rust here big time. Yeah eg's and ek's rust their bollocks off here but ep's really dont, the face lifts are start in rear arches as part of the face lift was rear arch liners which are just trapping shit in between causing issues with rust, mines a preface lift so algood for a 15 yr old tin can.
