Hey friends! Hope you're having a great week :) If you're looking for daily inspo I've been creating lots of new content on Instagram here: instagram.com/slowgrowth/
I'm going 5x a week in the gym for 2 years. It's so amazing the way you feel! My biggest advice is: do not give yourself the option of not going to the GYM. When your mind knows that no matter what happens, if it's rainy, if its to cold, if I'm not motivated. IT DOESN'T MATTER. You'll go train anyway, regardless of how you feel.
I love how truthful Matt is. There are so many courses out there that tell you that you can lose weight in 30 days and gain massive muscle in such a short amount of time, but all they really are doing is selling you a dream. I love how Matt is preaching the opposite of these horrible courses.
Otoh, you actually can lose about 4 kilos in a month. Which is about 1 notch on a typical belt. And if you're just starting out for the first time (so you get the beginner's bonus of losing some extra weight from water) it's about 1 dress size. But yeah, you're not going to go from morbidly obese to size zero in a month as many people promise.
@@TheFeldhamster I lost 38kg in 4 months just by changing the amount of food intake. I just regret I didn't have the possibility to go to the gym at the time, I lost so much muscle mass, and elasticity that now, at almost 25 i'm suffering from severe ciatic pain

And it’s awesome :) thank you for your transparency and encouragement. It’s refreshing. And I’m gunna be falling forward every day til the end of my life.
I could cry when looking at my like dislike ratio. I have so many jealous people that my videos always get way more dislikes than likes. Please don't be jealous, dear ja
This is great! I was similar as I wanted drastic change in my life but end up stopping/ giving up. I read the 5am club, and the concept of a "core habit" or "gateway habit" really stuck to me, these are habits that when you do them, the other habits are easier to follow through. Matt's is exercise, and mine is getting up at 5am, everyone will have one that sticks and builds confidence and trust in yourself. When you trust yourself, it is more feasible to create lasting changes.
That's honestly true. After a breakup, I started working out of out spite, and in time my anger got smaller and my health got better. In the meantime, I've started taking more supplements and counting how much water I drink.
I say this in the most loving way possible because I love your vids: These new vids are like when food bloggers tell you their whole life story before giving you the recipe you clicked the link for 😂
Matt you have helped me a lot. I remember a year ago watching you and PickUpLimes with a very balanced, peaceful and healthy way of living that I wanted the same and since then with a lot of effort my life has turned into that direction. I know your lives are not perfect but you gave the motivation to strive for a better way of living.
I have listen to his podcasts for over 50 hours now during work. And I honestly feel like he is a fraud. Listing to the podcast with Jamers Clear from Atomic habits you can hear the exact points James is telling Matt which are processed in this video. Honestly I start to think he is lying during this video about the 'habits' he took up
THIS WAS POSTED AT THE PERFECT TIME!! Today has been rough. I came to a hard realization that my unhealthy eating habits were an ED. I didn't know how to tell my mom I've been struggling. And i didnt want to tell her in person, so i wrote an entire essay to send to her. Spending two hours explaining my lethal mindset, i came to a realization. My thoughts were absurd. I didnt need help, God just needed me to take that first step i wanted to avoid for six months. Literally i feel so much better. :) thank you! Journaling is going to the habit that changed my life.
“To love the journey is to accept no such end. I have found, through painful experience, that the most important step a person can take is always the next one.”
I'm 24 and am living those frustration years right now. It's been awhile now and I think I'm at the end of the tunnel. Thank you for the motivation, seriously... thank you.
I tried so many things and ways to improve myself but nothing worked. It will work for a while and then back to normal. Then i started to think what is my biggest weakness. The answer is my sleep cycle. I always failed to sleep and wake up at the same time or sleeping same amount of hours daily. I tried to improved it and let go the other habits on which i was trying to improve. I changed the alarm tone to some affirmations to train my subconscious mind. Which helped me a lot in waking up early and at the same time i.e. 7 a.m.( as waking up at 5 is too unrealistic to me). A month after that i started seeing changes in myself. 1] my morning become more productive. 2] i have too much time as i wake up early. 3] i started eating right food and drinking lots of water without even trying. 4] i feel more refreshed every morning. 5] it reduces my screen time as i know it will affect my sleep. 6] adapt some good habits as i have to do something after waking this early. 7] increase confidence because of the affirmations of the alarm. 8] self acceptance.❤️
Sometimes I think you live in my mind 😩 I was just talking to my mother the other day about how working out as a habit has truly changed soo much in my life over the past 6 years. Just that one habit.
I just started a similar path...I am recently out of a 3 year relationship and it has crushed me, I have been so depressed. I have started to go to the gym and use the 2 day rule and the payoffs are not too noticeable, yet I feel so much better. I have been eating healthy, drinking water, and truly nurturing my body. Thank you for this push to continue my journey. I look forward to becoming more social; eventually graduating and paying off my debt too (hopefully one day I will crush cans with my biceps)
Matt , you’re God sent to me. If im feeling down or anxiety I watch your videos. You’re inspiring and encouraging. Praying for you and your journey. Please keep it up. You’re helping at least one person.
One thing I'd like to add from experience as a bit of a perfectionist myself. Building habits can be hard. But Matt is right, they can totally change your life and if you start small (look into The Ladder Effect) you can do it. But remember this. Just because you had a bad day doesn't mean anything. Don't let it derail your progress. Don't get too down on yourself or start hating yourself for sleeping too late one morning or being too tired to go to the gym. Remember that one stumble isn't a failure. It's just a stumble. We all stumble sometimes, we all miss a day or two. The important thing is to love yourself and understand that one or two missed days don't mean much in the grand scheme of things. No one is perfect. So brush yourself off and make sure to get back to it the next day. The only person in the world you're in competition with is yourself.
I remember how amazing of a read Charles Duhigg's The Power of Habit was, but seeing you bring a lot of the principles into context here is beyond inspirational! Great content as always Matt!
The Power of Habit was such a good read for me too! We are actually editing a video that will go up on our UA-cam channel soon about it!! What bad habits did you work to replace?
This is such perfect timing! I just created a video on Keystone habits and how they changed everything for me! Thanks Matt for the great video as always 💪
Own the morning. Do what makes your soul feel peace and your world will change. Mine: wake up @ 4:30, get coffee, read for 20mins, write down a gratitude list as simple as being grateful for green grass and clean air. Thanks for the great channel Matt!
Small habit goes a long way. To those who are still in it pursuing your dreams out there, don’t let the surroundings distract/discourage you. Keep going.
Something that helped me with the gym is enjoying the gains, but not directly addressing, recognizing, or talking about how consistent I've been. (Keep track on a calendar or notebook) But, if I say out loud to myself, 'wow we haven't missed a day in 4 months.' Then I might subconsciously *reward* myself by missing my next workout day. Then another, then the habit is broken and it's harder to start up again.
0:45 That was an excellent shot of scrolling your mobile.. the content moving up is very clearly visible.. wow! Thank you Matt.. for such great contents and awesome cinematography!!
You have inspired me. Recently I’ve been in a dark place after my 5 year relationship ended. I plan on losing weight and becoming more healthy. Also I recently started a minimalistic lifestyle as well but still need to make better diet habits. You are an inspiration and I thank you for your positive videos that helped me get out of a dark place. Thanks Matt!
Matt, I love your videos. There are plenty of youtubers who spout "here's how to change your life", but you are the only one I've found that comes across as genuine and realistic. I love your humor too! Thanks for sharing all that you share!
The one habit I like to have is to take cold showers. I know, it doesn't sound pleasant. But if you have anxiety, it's a great way to change your mind! 💪🏼
Habit change really is a slow and steady process. For me I can trace my success now back to three or so years ago when I started writing for 30 minutes every weekday. That's it. 30 minutes every weekday. And now I have two businesses and am on the 4th draft of a YA Fantasy novel. Great video!
Just an encouragement for anyone who needs it: it doesn't matter which habit you work on first. Just doing something consistently will give you a base to set up other systems onto. Commit to that first thing and when it's stable you'll be able to fit more pieces on!
this really helps! corona messed up my work out habits (gym closed) as well as majorly disrupting my small business. you just have to keep failing better and better and then you'll make it
I basically had no motivation and consistency in 2 months for my goals. Today tho I just began with working out again and this video popped up from u. After this video, my life is going to change towards the good really fast man!! thank you so much.
I am a student from Kolkata, India, and I want to thank you to help me to change my life. Your simple yet ingenious advices helped me to push through my old, defeated mindset, to start believing in myself and be courageous to push through difficult times. Thank you!
Failure is "just part of the process". You're not failing, you're TAKING ACTION AND LEARNING which is FAR BETTER than not trying at all. Some might argue that the only real failure is not trying at all.
@@theannunaki3871 i used to be like that. Then one day i just realized i was making excuses and needed to quit being a straight bitch. so i count down from 5 and get up and work out/ cold shower
I don’t know what it is about productivity videos like these, but I always get it in the moment and then forget about it a few days later.. the ideas never seem to stick.
"Patience and persistence is key". Something we are lacking more and more in a World obsessed with and built around "NOW". Want that thing off Amazon? Same day delivery. Pizza? 30 minutes delivered to your door. We're dumb enough to ditch dates because the "spark" wasn't there in the first 10 seconds and it's easier to just start browsing dating apps while leaving the restaurant and your date behind you. We quit jobs after a year because of a lack of sense of accomplishment or progress. Christ, it's a year. A year is nothing and a career takes YEARS. Love takes TIME to get and you're ditching the potential love of your life because it wasnt an instant enough connection for you. We need to slow down, ditch social media, and get back to basics of what life really is. Not how we see it in movies or ads or fake social media posts.
This is so true! True words of wisdom 👍 wish I could go back to a simpler time in life back in the early 2000's before the web and apps got big lol but thankful for all the useful stuff like this channel 🤣
yeah, been to speed dating recently, talked to like 10 guys, 5 mins each, none of them seemed interesting enough for me, because it was too many people, too fast. I'd rather meet someone in some normal circumstances, and best just see what kind of person they are in everyday life, like at work. But the problem is I work from home, so i meet nobody but my clients online.
I agree to a certain point, however, I find myself struggling a lot with my current job. It's my first job, and yes, I feel like I'm getting quite good at my job, but since I'm working a lot of overtime hours and just don't seem to be able to adapt to them, I'm questioning whether I wanna continue doing overtime hours. It's been almost a year, and I feel like instead of my body adapting to the long days, it just starts to give up, and every day I feel like I'm more tired than the day before. I am going to sleep more and more at 9.30-10pm and wake up at 6 because of that. Simply because I don't have any energy left and need to survive the next day.
@@fabianvanderelst9643 this sounds similar. You have a life that you spent on certain things. Work is one of them. Overworking is a good thing to show yourself to the company, getting more things done quickly. But I think it's not a sustainable habit. If you really passionate about your job, you love what you do and time pass without realizing, keep that momentum. But at certain point you get overwhelmed, you got less energy day by day. If it's not necessary/urgent stop overworking for a while without effecting your job in a bad point. Prioritize efficiency over time. I also struggle with that sometimes. Just my two cents.
Love this. I've tried to save money for years and never really stuck at it, one day it just clicked and now it's like an addiction. Next up, the gym. I've never been consistent with it but I think this time will be it. Love the videos Matt :)

Love this and can totally relate, the video was powerful for us too! Matt inspired us to start a UA-cam channel and now it's time to be consistent and show up every day step by step! 💪😆
In football, they say to always fall forward. Meaning if you’re going down, keep going down in the right direction. Your whole self-improvement journey is a real-life illustration of the idea. And it’s awesome :) thank you for your transparency and encouragement. It’s refreshing. And I’m gunna be falling forward every day til the end of my life.
It's crazy how a 10 minute video is everything you need to get inspired
I 100% agree! Videos like this really do help change my mentality of not giving up!
I could cry when looking at my like dislike ratio. I have so many jealous people that my videos always get way more dislikes than likes. Please don't be jealous, dear ja
go get it!!!!
You're inspired and you'll do nothing with it
@@xxxxxx3151 lol thanks for the hate
I say this in the most loving way possible because I love your vids:
These new vids are like when food bloggers tell you their whole life story before giving you the recipe you clicked the link for 😂
Matt you have helped me a lot. I remember a year ago watching you and PickUpLimes with a very balanced, peaceful and healthy way of living that I wanted the same and since then with a lot of effort my life has turned into that direction. I know your lives are not perfect but you gave the motivation to strive for a better way of living.
Simple but straight to the point 👍🏻
I have listen to his podcasts for over 50 hours now during work. And I honestly feel like he is a fraud. Listing to the podcast with Jamers Clear from Atomic habits you can hear the exact points James is telling Matt which are processed in this video. Honestly I start to think he is lying during this video about the 'habits' he took up
minimalism at its finest lol

How on Earth is that straight to the point?

THIS WAS POSTED AT THE PERFECT TIME!! Today has been rough. I came to a hard realization that my unhealthy eating habits were an ED. I didn't know how to tell my mom I've been struggling. And i didnt want to tell her in person, so i wrote an entire essay to send to her. Spending two hours explaining my lethal mindset, i came to a realization. My thoughts were absurd. I didnt need help, God just needed me to take that first step i wanted to avoid for six months. Literally i feel so much better. :) thank you! Journaling is going to the habit that changed my life.
Bro I love how you don’t take everything super seriously, the gaming and the drinking jokes add more realistic interest into your channel I fw that g

I have never been happier since adding more positive habits to my daily routine. Always love the content and ideas you share with us matt.
You can literally watch these videos with no sound and still be entertained the whole time. 🙌🏻
gonna try that

Sometimes I think you live in my mind 😩
I was just talking to my mother the other day about how working out as a habit has truly changed soo much in my life over the past 6 years. Just that one habit.
What was that one habit for you?
@happy chrysler oh sorry. My bad. I might have missed it.
Thank you for pointing it out.
been at since i was 15 and it is still my fav thing!!!!! (i'm not 15 anymore...lol)

Spoiler: the habit is exercising.
No it’s consistency

It's not letting your failures define you and to keep trying new things

@@skylerloxx7076 we each have our own habits obviously matt's was exercise
Matt was one of the persons who inspired me to improve myself, thanks for that. We all love your content!
What bad habits did you work to replace?
there will be fails but you have to push throught them and find better ways to reach your goal. consistency is key.
I skipped my walk this morning and was near talking myself out of doing one in the evening so boy did this come at the right time.
I literally just said out loud alone in my living room “I’m so thankful for this video” 🙏🏽
Amen sista. Thanks Matt! I needed that! 👏🙌
ua-cam.com/video/FNWGqlyVif8/v-deo.html
(Keep track on a calendar or notebook)
But, if I say out loud to myself, 'wow we haven't missed a day in 4 months.' Then I might subconsciously *reward* myself by missing my next workout day.
Thanks for sharing all that you share!
all the dislikes are the Kims who just turned 30 and had a birthday party
Haha I never celebrated even my 1st birthday.
The one habit I like to have is to take cold showers. I know, it doesn't sound pleasant. But if you have anxiety, it's a great way to change your mind! 💪🏼
Thank you Matt for inspiring me to create videos about self development btw!
whoa.....i couldn't do it! good for you.... (brrrrrr sips hot tea)
Not to be THAT person... 😂 but sometimes cold showers are THE BEST
It's great! I slowly start to enjoy it after two years or so
This is all very true it’s all about patience and learning from mistakes
Habit change really is a slow and steady process. For me I can trace my success now back to three or so years ago when I started writing for 30 minutes every weekday. That's it. 30 minutes every weekday. And now I have two businesses and am on the 4th draft of a YA Fantasy novel. Great video!
Just an encouragement for anyone who needs it: it doesn't matter which habit you work on first. Just doing something consistently will give you a base to set up other systems onto. Commit to that first thing and when it's stable you'll be able to fit more pieces on!
Just because you were not invited to my party doesn't mean you have to be mean...

Failure is "just part of the process". You're not failing, you're TAKING ACTION AND LEARNING which is FAR BETTER than not trying at all. Some might argue that the only real failure is not trying at all.
