In the last episode of Sleepy Creek we built out first structure, a tent platform! We decided to add on a flip up outdoor camp kitchen so we had a place to cook and eat while truck camping on our vacant land.

HAHAHA perhaps my favorite epilogue and hard cut ending of the channel so far
Hahahahaha
Laughed so hard at that cut 😂 „you just basically have to find a hollow…“ A HOLLOW WHAT?!
@@wonderfulmystical4316 cannula
Hey. I would keep the posts and put an Awning in it. Like a 23Zero / Rhino rack Batwing-awning just in case it's raining... easy roof setup..
I shat my pants laughing at the ending, just imagining Beckie’s reaction 😂
Make sure you clear out the spiders before sticking your hand under to release the latch for the leg, lol.
I'm here for 20% outdoors stuff, 30% DIY content, and 50% Becki and Chris shenanigans and humor. 🤣
Dang it! Now I have to build a cool platform too. 😂 Use the posts to make a small cantilever cover for the cook area. 🧐
We cut them off already but we’re definitely going to do some sort of covered cookhouse eventually!
Those posts would work great for a tarp the next time it rains. Plenty of uses, I'd save them for now, at least until other projects are complete.
This is coming along great. The missus and I are enjoying the updates as we're at a similar point in our property progress and it's been motivating for us
We cut them already but we installed poles instead, much less intrusive to the eye and can take lights! Thanks glad y’all are enjoying it!
9:48 “Ass Meal” 😂
How clever!! I love how much you’re building in cooking ideas into everything.
We’ve gotten really into cooking the last few years, it’s so fun!!
🤣🤣🤣
Amazing. Find a way to hold the legs down. If you kick one by mistake=caos. 🔥🔥🔥
Enjoying the Sleepy Creek series!
🙏🏼🙏🏼
"We have better chopsticks here than we do at home" -- this, but any time I use ANY of my Snow Peak gear 😂
Sameeeee. I prefer my snow peak camp spoon over every piece of cutlery in the drawer 😂
I have a Light My Fire Titanium spoon that I feel the same way about. The other end is an agressive spork, but I almost never use that end. The spoon is soup sipping deep enough.
How did Chris get so good at woodworking? Between learning to fly a helicopter and becoming a doctor, seems like he's busy! I really want to get into woodworking myself but don't know where to start
Well first you need some wood. Then just get a mitre box and a hand saw and build something small and square. Then once you get the feel for it you can go buy some power tools
That cut at the end tho...
8:42 that gate latch is clutch Chris 🔥🔥🔥 Well done and entertaining.
Definitely leave the posts and put lights above the work surface!! Looking good!
I noticed the Ryobi tool and also the use of a reciprocating saw to cut small firewood. Ryobi has a new 'pruner' which in reality is a 6-inch one-handed chainsaw. It's AWESOME for small to medium stuff and being one-handed you can (very carefully) hold the piece you're cutting if it's not attached to a tree anymore, so safer IMO. Like a hot knife through butter. Don't use my recipe saw anymore. Here in Australia, the kit version comes with a nice carry case/hard shell. I just bought the tool-only version. Keep having fun. Enjoying this series. 👍😃🛠 PS. Where are the bears!?
I think I might need to stop watching your videos...When I´m hungry xD
You guys take DIY projects to the next level. 👏
🙏🏼 just wait until the next episode of the series 😳😂
@@BeckiandChris lol. Can’t wait 😎🤩
Hey Becki,
I know I’m a broken record, but how’s that Muggy batch goin? Hoping it looks like I could have one by camping season 🤪
when you don't need a woodworker friend when you finally solved your problem. hahahaha nice! got jealous of your noodle. haha
We had an outdoor kitchen. It had a roof and counters like your and enough room for a table and chairs. It got a lot of use in the shoulder seasons because you didn't have to worry about rain. Perhaps you should leave the posts and have a way to rig up a tarp roof?
Cool tuneage this week.
Any critters taking up residence under the deck??
12:56 Becki & Chris Calendar for 2025, would totally sell out.
Use the two posts maybe for a shelving idea or something
Add a baby pin mount behind the counter so you put up a telescopic light stand when you need it but take it off when you don’t want to look at the pole 👍
THAT is brilliant
wait can we watch the part where Dr. Chris explains the surgery 😂
Where are your pants from Becki?
8 Inchshlong lmao 🤣 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I'd cook on that!
It’s a great long surface! Much better than the tailgate 😂
Love the latches for the legs. So satisfying. I’ve had a similar issue with a build with way the panel hangs and swings out. Magnet latches solved that pretty well.
Hi, the cooking area looks great. I was wondering if you were going to stain the cooking and decking areas so that it is weather proof?
Also, the steak and noodles looked delicious. I think it could have used some sort of gravy or sauce though.
All the best from England.
The cooking surface has a coating of tung oil 3:49 which will help protect, deck is pressure treated so it will be fine out there untreated. We decided not to stain that because we don’t want to deal with re-staining every two years. Noodles did have a soy type sauce with seasoning, I didn’t show that in the video, they were pretty tasty!
When’s the calendar out 😂 ?
Large tent area, someone will say, "........hey, what if we did a 20' Yert here instead........."
Love the abrupt end 🤣
Did you color grade your Ryobi tools to make them look like dewalts??? 🤣
Haha not on purpose, they were the victim of a heavy green cast correction I had to do from the woods 😂
Great work you guys
Y’all are so great 😂
Great video guys long time subscriber been watching the helicopter videos for years. I have a question Chris as a radiologist I know you do surgeries, so what’s the difference between using $100 power tool to do a task? and a $80,000 power tool to do an operation I’m curious for your response. So one more question , Will there be a Helo pad? Thanks again so much for your videos very entertaining very enjoyable to watch. Thank you.❤🐐👍😎
Thanks so much! Heli pad is definitely in our future! Chris said “home projects are hard and bodies are squishy” 🤓
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👍
Right on! Awesome outdoorsy survival like stuff!
But but but how will you guys use the counter if it’s raining? Might be a good idea to add a roof type thing on the two posts🤷♂️
Tarp! Or just use it in the rain. We will build something larger with a roof later on
@@BeckiandChris or a huge ass umbrella which connects to the wood with something ingenious Chris comes up with!
QUICK!! Chris needs an emergency tracheostomy!! **Beck jumps from around a tree** “Did someone say “Pied-Piper!! *Not sponsored by snow peak.*
Omg the pied piper tool, the PERFECT cannula! 😂
Project looks great! Well done, you two. I enjoy watching the process and appreciate all the work you both put into the production of these videos. If you haven't already chopped off the posts, one idea to finish it off is to top it with a 4x4 cross plate. That would enable you to hang lights any place overhead, plus add hooks on the uprights for pans, kitchen accessories, etc. The cross plate would also create a window frame look that would add a surrealist design touch of "gazing through the window into the wilderness" appeal :)
We cut them off already but great suggestion, will keep this idea in mind for our cook house!
😂
LOVE IT! I want to see your Cowboy Kitchen! I love cooking and outdoor cooking is so satisfying. MORE, I need more cooking.
It’s just so fun!! More to come!
You should add a mounting point for a 5 gallon propane tank. Then you won’t have to worry about bringing fuel for the camp stove every visit. You could even add a little housing for it to keep it protected from the elements.
We’ve got two mounted to the back with covers out of sight and it works great! Two gas lanterns too since we did this video, will have to do an update!
Wait, basically what?? You have to finish that sentence Chris, someone might have to do a tracheotomy one day. It's in your Hypocratic oath or something.
🤣
Is Mr. November available to rent?
Love this!!!! I'll be honest, I kind of fell off your channel over the last year but I am now catching up on your videos and podcast! I watched your bluebird video and then listened to the podcast after it. Thanks so much. It's fitting actually because it's coming into Winter in Australia. Kepp them coming!!!!!
Welcome back!!
Great job Mr November that meal looked good
she's so ridiculously happy
Great edit! Would you ever consider using tree-mounted lights?
Yes!! We have a full video about that coming out in two weeks ☺️
What is that black sweater that Becki is wearing ? I love it
Thanks! It’s the Maine Guide Mock Crew Sweater from LL bean!
Color grade level: Nuke the Ryobi neon green tones 😅
YUP! But also shooting in the forest is hard! Major green cast to correct, obliterate Ryobi colors on the way 😂
Wow never seen yellow Ryobi tools..I’ve seen blue but not yellow
Haha combo of color grading and them being caked with mud and dirt
You guys are so cute. I'm loving this series. Here in Montana we generally make our tent sights out of gravel. The decks seem like such a luxury :-) I'm glad to see you enjoying your property.
Thank you ☺️ we get a lot of rain and it gets messy down there so we thought a deck might be a bit more comfortable, though gravel would be much easier
@@BeckiandChris that's true. Although the gravel drains that's why we use it. Your videos remind me of our place up here, there is just something about getting closer to nature. Enjoy!
@@garyhanson4133that’s also true! It is so good to get out there!
It’s November? What?
All of this was shot in November 😂
Elderflower rose lemonade sounds really interesting
It’s very tasty! The can is also a great texture
@@BeckiandChris i’ll have to definitely see if I can find it
🤎🎉🎉
Do you guys have to worry about bears?
They are around but rare in the area, mostly found in the mountains
😍
I love that you cut Chris off at the end before he could get into too much detail. 🤣
😂😂
Liability...if you leave it in some nincanpoop would then take it as medical advice and go and try it on some unsuspecting patient 😂
