Uh oh, cough cough, and the EQA is Chris' last Mercedes review after that slam.
I think the word you were looking for was wallow. Reality of Cindy's comments are true though. I think most people want simplicity and intuitive functions. This is why the iPhone and Mac software is so good. They test it on average people and see how quickly they figure out the system. If it takes too much time, it's a failure. End of story.
Re: the bling factor. I agree, small high quality details are wonderful but add too much jewelry or bling and it becomes gaudy. Thanks for the honest comments!

Maybe try the faster EQA 350 model that is 0-60mph in 6 seconds instead of almost 9 in the base model. It is all-wheel-drive too so should prevent the fishtail characteristic of torqey front wheel drive. You can also specify black wood trim pieces and black seats to reduce visual distraction though the vent chrome would have to be changed aftermarket. Regarding the 2 screens, most new cars have this including ID3 and the EQA center screen is nicely integrated with the other screen though can be overwhelming for a while. You can also turn off backlighting for vents etc. You can get other wheel rim designs to preference. And smaller 18" rims which should make the car more comfortable instead of the 20" ones that seem to be on the test car. I guess if you prefer small cars then that could not be changed about the EQA though cars with bigger crumple zones are generally a bit safer in a collision. If the car was optioned with the seat comfort package, you can adjust inclination of seat cushion so front part is not pressing behind knee as much. There is a wheel to side front of seat bottom for this option package. Else you could use an aftermarket seat pad gel cushion or an upholsterer will change the padding in the original seat though the hard seats likely soften with use.

Cindy's right about a number of things. Most people, particularly women just want to know how to operate the music, Bluetooth phone, the heating and maybe the navigation occasionally. The rest is rarely of interest. I am male and a car enthusiast and apart from the heating i dont use anything else , not even the music or navigation, although i may have the map displayed. By the way, the EQA weighs 2040kg, which is heavy for car of that size.

Well done Cindy, she tells it as she see's it. She'd probably like model 3 which has spartan interior like a blank web site, and has no controls at all. ID3/4 also minimalist, but most folks transitioning from normal cars expect to find controls for things like wipers, mirrors, sound, air vents in the usually intuitive locations used eyes off by tactile feel. Agree HUDs can be distracting until you get used to them. VW's haptic steering wheel controls are a disaster zone, and no mute button on the steering wheel seems jurassic.

Fantastic and nice and honest which I like and totally understand about it. Having recently seen a Ioniq 5 review at night from South Korea I saw the heads up display and can understand about it being annoying I'd switch it off as well. It may fishtail if it's rear wheel drive, a very Canadian term which is coming from the right person. :) exPat Canadian myself. But in Canada most Euro cars are considered luxury anyway perhaps not VW so much but Merc/BMW/Audi all luxury rated cars.

I love how similar you two sound, all the way down to inflexions and pauses. Also, “bad website” is SPOT ON for mercedes, a friend of mine and i (both software devs) have been making fun of it for years! All the design elements are just strewn everywhere, it’s seemingly random, there’s random font sizes and italics in the UI, nothing’s centered or spaced right (not just in the UI, EVERYWHERE, ALL THE THINGS)... It’s like someone chewed up elements of a car interior, and sneezed them onto a dashboard.

  • @typxxilps
    @typxxilps 3 роки тому

clear opinion - it is just a mercedes, but the major issue will be another:
without luxury you will not get an electric seat with memory cause that is always part of the more luxurious packages and the ID.3 does not offer that cause this feature is limited for ID.4 and higher or Skoda enyaq and even there not for the entry model which means buying a bigger battery and additional extras.
The Mercedes passenger seat usually feels a lot stiffer or harder if that has not been used really much. You will recognice that instantly when changing the seats cause press cars are usually used by a driver only and the driver seat will feel different. You might think it can not be true, but I have already gotten over 30 new Mercedes and when I sell those i usually had to deal with that same issue even if i had driven 50.000 km but not on long trips with a passenger or not an adult in the front seat. So the missing comfort in the beginning will finally pay off if you might have sold the car already cause while I was studying I had gotten a 250.000 km Mercedes middle class and I had been riding it for another 100.000 km and the passenger seat was still quite comfortable.
As always: each coin has 2 sides and it is up to you to figure that out.
And finally I would not talk about the prices cause these prices can be totally misleading and can have an impact on the judgement cause way more expensive than our ID.3 is the point that has to be checked carefully if that is true or not especially for press cars that come fully equipped, which you can get at a lower price for sure.
And then the car can look quite differently, a lot less bling and features, of cause no memory seat and maybe even no electric seat and so on. It is a doubleedged sword cause the difference can be pretty huge simply by a click on a butten and then you get an ambient light or a different interior trim based on a line / package.
Finally Mercedes offers a cheap one but also a fully featured S-Class styled luxury edition and the press department usually wanna show all the stuff they can offer and therefore they think that press cars should show the full variety of what is possible.
For us the ID.3 is simply to cheap and VW has to improve that soon and a lot cause sales figures are bad and a lot of ID.3 buyers have complained about the cheap interior already especially since the ID.4 had arrived in the show rooms cause that car has a complete different interior level. Finally a lot had complained coming from the e-GOLF or GOLF that the ID.3 feels too cheap. Mabe next year they will be the upgrade to ID.4 level as next move had announced it cause the real sales figures of the ID.3 were bad in 2020 cause that also lead to the cross border sale of so many iD.3 first edition simply to meet the CO2 emission goals. These cars are now offered for a lot cheaper in Switzerland and sometimes even withouth the suisse by a contract with a benelux dealer who exports these cars to the Suisse but in such cases where a EU citizen buys that they help the customer to avoid all the custom issues and offer a direct purchase from the Benelux dealer who pays the suisse dealer a kick back / provision. Otherwise the car would be imported from Belgium (ex VAT) and imported to Suisse with Suisse VAT on top, before the export net without VAT would have to be started and the import into Germany and the import VAT from a non EU country. And VW had done that before in december too.

Ok her view is like minimalism against opulence. I get it the people who want minimalism would exactly be viewing this car this way. But I think regarding the dynamics of driving, I think drive wise its a lot better that it was perceived of. You can only expect that much from a front wheel drive. It's surprising she didn't say anything about the noise inside the cabin and vibration. Also the ride comfort that is how good the suspension is ? I think it should be a lot better than ID3 for sure. At least that's what most reviewers have perceived this to be. But hey infotainment is one among the best. I don't think that's something to do with taste either.

So it's a slow, over priced, over complicated, pain in ass, with shit rims and lacks rear wheel grip.
I wasn't going to buy one anyway, but nice to know. Thanks Cindy.

Unsubscribed after 1 year. She really pissed me off. Poisonous . This pseudo "review' really pissed me off. A bicycle is too much for her. Wonderful car, amazing design both outside and inside. The best EV on the market. Mercedes is the best, they just need to upgrade their batteries. The rest is fantastic in all aspects. Multimedia system is wonderful. I own such in b-class and is simple and intuitive . Next time ask some clever person, who can concentrate on something for longer than 10 seconds. Ask some clever person to do the review and not your wife. Give her a bicycle as it is enough for her.

Calling the EQA the best EV on the market is a stretch by any definition.
