Of course you are right, I’m not going to argue with you there, Judy Kuhn is phenomenal as the singing voice of Pocahantas, I love her, I love her voice, I love how she got the part. I watched all docuvideos. In fact, I prefer Judy’s version. Vanessa, however, is the artist who recorded the original soundtrack for the movie which she did great and like I said, rarely recognized for her contribution to the movie/song.

hello just an informative aditionnal comment as a musician myself : the ear piece you talk about is not to stay on melody, it's what we call an ear monitor, it's used mainly on very big stage, to avoid the speakers on stage contrary to what we were doing before in the past, in the 70's, 80 and 90's. this is to reduce the volume of the sound on stage, which at some point was becoming very loud, and it's making lot of issue because the sound in the audience is already very loud. This is avoiding as well, lot of cables on the floor on stage, and it help keeping the stage clean. on Tv show or concert done in playback with backing track it's to hear the backing track, but as well hearing better. not every stage are like the boston pop symphony hall, where the sound is just crystal clear with an full orchestra, as it's made for it. outdoor, arena, or awful indoor hall, with an ear monitor can help a lot as it will isolate the singer and other musicians from the sound of the stage and the audience. they are so used as well as "ear plugs" to protect their hearing and still listen to what they play on stage. Exemple of loud sound on stage : Speakers, drummers, guitar players with lot of Amp, and some other specific part of a band which can be very very loud on stage and can lead to hearing traumatism.
