Many thanks for you positive vibes Robert and although technically quite straightforward in normal conditions, the Gouter Route is a grand day out in a magnificent setting! :-) Cheers Dave
+blinderII Hey blinderll and thank you for taking the time to post your kind words! Muchly appreciated and I'm delighted you enjoyed my wee video! :-) Cheers Dave
Hey Mr Trace and many thanks for the positive feedback as it is muchly appreciated! Yup it was a very busy route due to the amazing weather but my buddy and I were back at the Tete Rousse refuge by mid-day and avoided the worst of the congestion so happy days... :-) Cheers Dave
Many thanks your kind comment Masi and the Gouter route is certainly possible in Winter, but is normally climbed during the Spring and Summer months. My understanding is that the avalanche risk is too high during Winter for most folks to consider... :-) Cheers Dave
On Day 1 my partner and I had a leisurely start and took the late morning Belvedere cable car from Les Houches and then hopped on the MB train to the Eagles Nest before a short 2 to 3 hour walk to the excellent Tete Rousse Hut with it's amazing views to Aiguille Bionnassay. On Day 2 from the Tete Rousse it is about 2 to 3 hours in the dark to cross the infamous Grand Couloir followed by a loose scramble with some fixed cables up to the Gouter Hut. My partner and I are averagely fit and left the Tete Rousse at around 2am and were on the summit by about 8.30am. Then back down at the Tete Rousse for just after 12 noon before a leisurely stroll back down to the Eagles Nest to catch a mid-afternoon train. Please feel free to subscribe as I have another climbing vid coming out real soon!
+Mario Ribeiro my partner and I just retraced our steps down the Gouter Route back to our starting point, the Tete Rousse hut for a quick break at around lunchtime before heading down to catch a train at the Eagle's Nest. I hope you enjoyed the video! :-) Cheers Dave
+ken kendoll Hi Ken the Gouter Route is technically quite straightforward but with no mountain or climbing I would recommend hiring a guide. Bon chance! :-) Cheers Dave
That's exactly the reason why this pretty straight forward mountain had so many fatalities. It's not a hill it's a mauntain and you need to remember that every step of the way. Things can go from good to really bad in the blink of the eye and I suggest you getting some experience on smaller peaks first or maybe doing winter mountaineering course before you attempt.
Ha ha happy belated birthday Nick and many thanks! Did you summit on August 14th as well and I presume you went via the Trois Monts route? :-) Cheers Dave
You're welcome Your Adventure and many thanks for your positive vibes! And yes a tripod and some very early alpine starts were used to film the various time lapses! :-) Cheers Dave
I understand, i was just joking a bit :D it wasnt meant to be pedant, evenless rude, in any manner By the way good video and amazing accent, and i hope my english is understandable, though it is far from perfection

Great video, would it be possible to climb this route in winter? say January-March?
Many thanks your kind comment Masi and the Gouter route is certainly possible in Winter, but is normally climbed during the Spring and Summer months. My understanding is that the avalanche risk is too high during Winter for most folks to consider... :-) Cheers Dave
@@chdslDave Many thanks for this, just one last question please; how long did it take you to complete the the route?

Once you reach the summit, how did you get down from there?
+Mario Ribeiro my partner and I just retraced our steps down the Gouter Route back to our starting point, the Tete Rousse hut for a quick break at around lunchtime before heading down to catch a train at the Eagle's Nest. I hope you enjoyed the video! :-) Cheers Dave
flap your arms and fly
planning on doing this route next year. with no mountain climbing experience, do you recommend going guided for a first ascent?
+ken kendoll Hi Ken the Gouter Route is technically quite straightforward but with no mountain or climbing I would recommend hiring a guide. Bon chance! :-) Cheers Dave

Ken Kendoll; did you ever do the route? I hope you took the advice about getting a guide!
or stick to somebody who done it once o twice
Get a guide it’s far more dangerous than it looks and the altitude sickness will stop you
14th August, that's my birthday, well done, its a bit of a slog though. I went from the Midi Station, great to summit.
Ha ha happy belated birthday Nick and many thanks! Did you summit on August 14th as well and I presume you went via the Trois Monts route? :-)
