This is probably the most accurate desi wedding scene in any non-desi show or film I have ever seen. It's so wholesome and choreo was perfect, especially that little Dola Re touch at the start. When the scene started, I was so skeptical (worried about the "twist the lightbulbs" and Punjabi MC) but it looked so awesome and fun.

Moving beyond the amazing choreography and visuals (Never in my lifetime thought Aniston and Sandler gonna star in a Bollywood style wedding song that too in a Hollywood movie!)….the composition was pretty spot on and catchy….I did notice the lyrics were gibberish but that seems more of a genius as it played on the typical vocal tropes without taking away from the energy of the song….amazing work by the composers as well 👌
It is a killer song for sure! It is titled "King Dee Wedding" and was composed by the Mumbai-based duet Avinash-Vishwajeet. The lyrics are plain Hindi, though they might sound a little altered and sometimes oddly cut by the editing process.

@@thinkdeep4674 That's a super nice and on-the-point feedback, thank you! In Western movies, they shoot dance very differently than in India. We had to create a choreography which could be performed in one go, like on stage. But the end scene is shortened and some moves might look a little out of sync. Also, the dancers are supposed to be guests, so it was not meant to be a super pro performance. I'm glad you liked the moves and were able to follow!

Great scene.. Happy with the attire you gave them as well. Not like other shows who give them 90s outfit. Don't you think Jen and Adam should of Broke into Cheorgraphed Dance that would of been funnier. Since they had not learnt. Would of been funnier
Thank you! It could have been funnier indeed, but it was not going well with the script which specified "dance by the guests". Also, I must admit that Jen and Adam did surprisingly well despite not being trained at all. This may have further reduced the funny contrast with the other "guests". For the beautiful costumes, credit goes to the costume designer Debra McGuire :)

I have a few curious questions.
1. How difficult was it to teach Indian dance steps to the French actress?
2. Did you get enough time to practice with her? (I heard you only got 2 hours, which seems less to me).
3. Were you happy with her final performance?
4. Was she a quick learner and did she have patience?
5. How many retakes did it take to shoot the entire dance routine?
Questions are welcome, especially interesting questions like these!
1. It was not easy. Dancing is very uncommon for Western actors. It is all the more challenging when it comes to 'Bollywood' dance which not only requires good technical skills (rapidity, precision, fluidity, memory...), but also a lot of expressivity.
2. Clearly not, and Mélanie herself felt so. Initially, she was confident because her mom was a dance teacher. But the amount of work required from her was obviously underestimated. Having only a couple of hours to rehearse, a few days before the shooting, was a bit disappointing.
3. Given the circunstances, absolutely yes.
4. She was a quick learner indeed. But we also adapted and simplified her part of the choreography in order to "make things work".
5. It took 5 days to shoot the Sangeet scene, which I think was the most time-consuming scene of the entire movie. We did a lot of retakes, and what you see in the movie is about half of what we shot. But this was not only due to the dance. This was also one of the most complex scenes, involving all of the main cast, hundreds of extras (with their costuming / makeup / hairstyling), a very complex set, VFX, etc.

When I saw this dance video from Hollywood, I thought it was awesome as didn't make cringe stereotype of Indians.
The on-the-set (out of sync) improv dance by Jennifer and Adam made sense with the movie script. It was adorable to see them participate in the dance sequence. (Reminded me of Micheal Scott's Diwali dance from 'The Office').
But I felt the French actress was stiff in her performance (hand movements, expressions and thumkas). I recognised her from 'inglorious bastards'. So I assumed that she didn't practice much, because she had a "I am a big star" attitude on set.
Usually, brides at Indian weddings practice a lot and give their best performance in front of friends and family.
Anyways, I hope that you get to create more awesome dance numbers, and make something like the iconic RRR 'Natu Natu' dance.

Great song! A much better depiction of desi weddings in Hollywood. Loved that! However, wasn't expecting an elephant to enter with the groom. I think that practice has become extinct here in India now. Grooms enter on horses dressed as kings.
Thank you! We did try to make it as accurate as we could afford, even though "Murder Mystery 2" is just a light comedy. I am glad you appreciate it. The elephant might seem a bit stereotypical indeed, but we should see it in context. The character of the groom is a billionnaire, quirky Maharaja who likes to show off. He also likes everything stereotypical, not just about India but also about Europe (e.g. France = Eiffel tower, etc.). So the elephant goes well with his character in that specific context.

@@rash9931 In the movie, the guests have actually learned the steps with a tutorial. So it is not supposed to be completely improvised either (except for the American couple who hasn't practiced and is embarrassed). But I am happy we made something which lives up to a real Indian wedding.
@@rash9931 I do see your point but nowadays choreography is taken seriously in Indian weddings. The main family members often start training at least a week in advance to the wedding. Sangeet nights are big, and dance is no longer about just moving as you like. So the choreography does make sense actually!

Jenn Aniston is AMAZING! She's Bollywood dancing, has a diverse cast on the Morning Show she co-produces, she gave 1 Million to Black Lives Matter....and I STILL have to defend her against friends who say she's racist just because all her friends happen to be white. (IMO, it would be nice to find at least one so that I can ahut them up...😂) Am I wrong or way off? Thoughts? (Just in case re my humble opinion I'm a minority 👍🏾)
