I feel the reason for this is that here, the dancer is emphasizing her athleticism first and foremost, while the more sensual motions look almost mechanical, as if trying to use these moments to catch their breath, while Gillian emphasized the sensual temptation of the character throughout the performance, where even her more athletic motions place emphasis on graceful motion.
Was Peter Pan trying to be seductive? What made the original so much more spicier was Gillians fluid like moves and her hair...oh god the hair and seeing her dance on pointe!
I grew up watching the original with Gillian, but I also like this version. I love the different ways they interpreted Morrighan, and who she is as a character. Both are incredible dancers, and although Ciara can seem boring after Gillian, she really isn't. She has her own unique style, just like Gillian did.
If "Lord Of The Dance" becomes a major motion picture I would cast Maura Higgins as Gillian Norris and Ciara Sexton as Mrs Higgins who was Gillian's dance teacher before Gillian auditioned for the role of Morrighan The Temptress in the "Lord Of The Dance" show.
It feels like she's going to fast or isn't idk, sensual enough to compare to the original. Gillian Norris just *looked* the part and played it so well that you can only imitate, not surpass.
Yeah, remember this moment. This is exactly - how some people are all left brain, but lack style. That's why Flatley is so good. He successfully incorporates both.
Chelsea Gottfried lol, shes not going fast enough. She spends most of her timestanding in place moving side to side or sitting down or crawling. I think its a way to stall for time. The last girl never stopped moving, yet made the dance look fluid. Botht the dancing and coustume were off on this one.

In my opinion, both are very good performances each in their own right. But I do agree, Gillian's routine was exceptional. Although I do appreciate this version too.
Each dancer that plays Morrighan in each LOTD production gives their own interpretation. While I do like Ciara's interpretation, Gillian gives a much exceptional version of Morrighan.
If I could team up with Mathew Vaughn and Marv Films to bring "Lord Of The Dance" to the Big Screen as a Biopic set to Michael Flatley's life and the 1997 stage phenomenon I would cast Maura Higgins as Gillian Norris.
Ciara's great but her moves are more Ballet & not as sensuous as Gillian Gillian is the Temptress the way she moves she gives it a touch of seduction without being too overly sexy.
@@catspaw3092 If I could team up with Matthew Vaughn and Marv Films to bring "Lord Of The Dance" to the Big Screen as a Biopic set to Michael Flatley's life and the 1997 stage phenomenon I would cast Maura Higgins as Gillian Norris.
Dancers who play Morrighan give their own interpretation. Mr. Flatley encouraged those dancers to give their own interpretation so as not to do imitation, which he believes does not show originality and creativity. Gillian was the original and nothing beats her way of playing Morrighan. Ciara did a good interpretation of the character and regarding the choreography, she was more ballet-oriented.
Ciara Sexton is awesome! There's so much sexappeal, which get's even stronger with her haircut, her attitude and of course the suit she wears. Okay, I have to admit that I fall for women with short haircuts like this
I liked Ciara's ballet like performance. And I don't think it's fair to judge her by Gillian's Norris's performance as they are two entirely different stylists. Both renditions are excellent!
This is my favourite part of Lord of the Dance, the incredible dancing combined with that superb catchy music , is a beautiful interpretation of Morrighan. However it’s inevitable that it will always be compared to the original interpretation performed by Gillian Norris. Also it’s difficult to see the movements properly here in a costume - which stunning as it is, is almost lost against the background. Nevertheless Ciara’s performance is outstanding.
She's a good dancer. ....but i think she is more like a fairy and Not the temptress. ...(and the costume isnt the best) In german we Would say: she is very "leichtfüßig" (Google; )) But Not temptress like "leichtfüßig" more like auf fairy
I'm sorry but there was nothing sexy about this and the outfit was terrible. Ciara is a great dancer but I don't think she pulled this role off that well. Also yes she is a better dancer technically than Gillian but that's cause the standard of dance is a lot higher today then back when Gillian was dancing. Gillian is Morrighan no matter what that girl just owned it.
Omg, there’s a lot of haters that doesn’t even know how to dance, she’s a magnificent dancer, show respect to her and stop comparing with Gillian, different dancer, different style.
the whole point of ciara being there is to be a temptress she has to be seductive and although they didn't exactly hit the nail on the head with the choreogrophy or costume i think that she is an amazing dancer. My dance school is doing a remake of this and me and my friend play Saoirse, the Irish Cailín (my firend) and i play Morrighan the Temptress. im so exited!
La danseuse est magnifique et quelle grâce quand elle danse .C'est vraiment un grand moment pour moi quand je la vois dansé avec la musique qui est sublime comme la danseuse
Theirs no personality to do this dance you have to have that seductive side pour out on stage and Gillian Norris did just that when she did this dance who ever this is isn’t the right dancer for this
I don't like it when they make the dance more "sophisticated" (more technical) and when the costume lacks of movement. Sorry, but even if she is a tight awesome dancer, I'm not feeling this version. XXox
If "Lord Of The Dance" becomes a major motion picture I would cast Maura Higgins as Gillian Norris and Ciara Sexton as Mrs Higgins who was Gillian's dance teacher before Gillian auditioned for the role of Morrighan The Temptress in the show "Lord Of The Dance".
Gillian Norris had a presence these other dancers in the role of The Temptress just don't have. Not knocking their dancing abilities, at all-they just don't have that natural sensuality Gillian had.
She's technically sooo much better than Gillian was. But the outfit and facial expressions let it down. I fell IN LOVE with lord of the dance because of this one piece Gillian danced. It is technically outstanding and I she's a better dancer than Gillian, but it isn't seducive enough for the part she's meant to be portraying. And the latex/hat is terrible.
This dance is different from the original performed by Gillian Norris. Here the dancer was trying to not repeat Gillian... she couldn’t... Gillian Norris is unreachable.
Honestly I enjoyed much more this version than the other one (Gillian's, which is also great). I love the music and I feel this version matches better with the accents of the music and the beat and rhythm. This music for me is more sharp than sensual, and so is this performance.
She was just an empty fill in for this show I feel to just have a temptress. There is no energy or anything. Even in stolen kiss she’s just wearing a black suit to not stand out at all. I don’t get it she’s a good dancer.
I thought that this was so much better than the original! Maybe not "sexier" but dance-wise the choreography was on point. I agree she could have had a better costume and long hair would have really added to it, but I enjoyed this! I've always loved the gypsy music but have been really dissatisfied with the routine as a dancer.
Michael got rid of them for Morrighan. Ciara only wears the red dress during Victory. Let me go on the record saying Ciara is an amazing performer, but I absolutely HATE the costume and some of the choreography choices. Good on Ciara for doing what she was told to do, but I would have wanted to see something a little more creative.
The dance/costume don't quite match the song as the original does, but I'm super happy that they let her have short hair and an outfit that accentuates her dancing (I don't like the the red or the hat). Having done Irish dance for 6 years I've grown weary of the emphasis on the excessively unrealistic curly hair and increasingly shorter skirts. It's nice to see something different. She's adorable and an amazingly effortless dancer but not the 'temptress' that Gillian is.
The hairpiece reminds me of a beret... While she is a good dancer, she is not the temptress. The reason people could not hate the villain that gillian played was because of her grace, femininity, strength, and allure. She wasn't playing sexy, she ust was but softer.
I think that she is a good dancer and I actually really like her hair. You don't have to have long hair to be sexy. She's very beautiful and graceful. I just don't think she was the right choice for this role.

Quite simply, this performance has immaculate technique and strength; but most importantly, it lacks grace, fluency and warmth.
