IMO even if someone for sake of some experiment wants to try he does not need aquarium water or green water to grow algae nor algae starter is required. He just needs glass jar or plastic jar through which sunlight can pass, sunlight, water and some nutrients which we can add by way of vegetable and fruit peels for them to decay or they can simply add cow manure or some compost. That's it.

Bro, very good information. I am in the same position where u was in 3 years back. This green water is all matter for Daphnia culture. Without Daphnia culture there is no Betta fish 😜

Hi Ser. Thank you for the video. I noticed you had some cultures outside that were more yellowish color. I started 2 cultures but one if very yellow green also. Is that safe to feed daphnia? Or is the green water culture already crashing?
i take empty aquarium, pump it full of plant fertilizer add strong lights and in a few days starts going green. what makes it green is the Alge its a version of alge

How do you stop other things from breeding in your bins? Like mosquitos or other species of daphnia and copepods and stuff? Thanks
aeration... movement and bubbles stop Mosquitoes, but not everything else.
They would land in a still smelly bacteria / detritus filled container or old tire...
-The rotting vegetation/ leaves smell attracts them to your yard. :))
so, if you have bad mosquitoes.. should have some fish in a smelly bucket pond... to eat the larvae.
-And, dump all other standing water. Or you need a screen on top... where the mosquitoes will choose another place... (I do not know, if they ever drop eggs thru a screen, have not heard that it's a problem.)
you will grow other copepods, like Cyclops (if they are one...) if your aquarium plants are infested. You may never know, without a magnifying glass... in a clear glass or jar, you can see them.
you will grow bacteria and Paramecium from aquarium water... a good thing in your Green Water.
-Cyclops can eat tiny fish eggs or possibly micro fry.

Now my question is it is possible to see daphnia appearing in your bucket without having a starter culture? I am trying for that by taking few buckets filling with aged water, adding dried leaves to them and adding yeast to them. Now waiting game has begin. Set up of these is on my terrace under shade net. Please advice
Normally daphnia evolve from chicken/bird poop. Its only base on my experience

Bacteria is a good thing when making green water
@@star-bf3ek Bacteria need sugar and consume sugar very fast; when no more sugar is there the bacteria will die and become fertilizer for green water.
