These japanese brands learned it the hard way to actually bring some decent value for money vehicles here in the Philippines. All thanks to the Chinese brands that actually opened the consumers eyes and showed us that we actually can get more with the money we’re paying. I’m not hating on these Japanese brands, I just know they could have given us better quality and feature packed cars sooner than later. They held back quite a bit until their Chinese competitors came in.
This is a toned down Yaris Cross for the South east Asian market. It's terrible. The one we have in the west is the original with the superior TNGA framework. This one comes with a lower cost DNGA.

@@KuchingKingVideoGamer If i were to choose a Chinese brand. I would go for the GAC as the parts they used are very high quality brands,Bosch,Denso and ETC. than the Chinese competition. I own a GAC GS8 the quality is very promising.
I think this V variant will sell like pancakes here in the PH, well packed features for a japanese brand which is notorious for being always behind in that category. Based on size and power output, Yaris cross V rivals with Hyundai Creta, but since they are priced almost the same, I think the obvious choice would be the Yaris cross. HR-V and Corolla Cross are different class but still Yaris Cross packs more features than those two. (Btw, chinese cars are out of the conversation here :D)
All the Chinese cars is to mainstream brands as Sun Cellular was to Globe and Smart back in the day. The consumer wins when competition for value comes in.

My qualm with the HEV is that it is priced very close to the Corolla cross Hybrid. I dont know with others, pero ako I would go for the bigger , more power and more refined Coroll Cross. But the petrol variants will sell well sa palagay ko.
Same thing BUT if you consider na it offers a panoramic sunroof a kick-motion power tailgate a bigger touchscreen and other safety features then it makes alot more sense. The Corolla Cross’s selling point would be the bigger space talaga. Kumbaga take your pick nalang between the features overload and the practicality.
Between Yaris Cross V variant and Geely Coolyray Sports SE, I think geely has a thin edge due to its power. While I favored Yaris Cross because its Toyota, I honestly think that GCR's infotainment is much more appealing and user friendly. I still has more time to decide between these two.

Thank you for emphasizing that this variant has paddle shifters. I wonder why Toyota does not copy the Chinese cars and turbocharge their engines to give it more power? For fuel economy, or to earn more profit for less?
I believe it's to earn more profit for less. That's because they can still use their Toyota badge to back up their pricing. But this will change sooner or later now that they no longer provide us with TNGA platform based budget friendly options.
