OMFG! I've been searching for 8 non-billable hours trying to figure out how to fix this exact issue. I got a video from an editor using daVinci Resolve yesterday and it was off by exactly 4 frames, but only on 10 of 62 tracks from the AAF. I was going insane trying to figure out what was going on. I looked for a tip button and don't see one. You have my eternal gratitude!
Hey Wesley, I'm glad to hear it helped! Yes, it was very frustrating for me (and my client) as well before finding the culprit. The worst part is that it ends up falling under the responsibility of the sound editor even though it wasn't caught by the video editor. I recommend adding a clause in any future contracts to offer audio sync as an add-on service (so if they don't take it, it's not your responsibility). I appreciate the offer to leave a tip, I will add a link in the descriptions of my videos but it's paypal.me/decibelpeak However, it would mean a lot more to me if you joined our free online community to share your knowledge and experience at decibelpeak.com/the-summit/ It's brand new, so any contributions would be great! Thanks, have a great week! - Stefan
I wish I found this video earlier. Parts of the session was off by a few frames and I had to eyeball it, which didn't really fix the issue (I probably made it worse)... I'm lost for solutions
Yes, it can seem overwhelming at first but before nudging any individual clips, try globally nudging everything by a few frames forward/backwards and see if it helps. In reality though, this should be take care of by the video editor. If timecode was off it shouldn’t be your immediate responsibility (you should charge extra for it). Hope that helps.
