    How much time did you put into all the CG art for this video? It's incredibly impressive!!! Absolutely stellar work Sir!
    But I never noticed that Sonic 1 had a ray traced CG look, Sega had a bit of an obsession with that look for a while, shame they didn't do more with it, as it's a severely underused style.

    I clearly remember a bunch of Sonic 2 "Are you up 2 it?" posters that were plastered on an abandoned building in Hartford, CT. where we could clearly see them from even our school windows. XD
    That marketing for that game was insane at the time! But loved every minute of it...and then questioned where's missing zones! Think that and Mario 3 was my first real questioning of cut content in a game. ^_^;

    • @trevinodude
      @trevinodude 5 років тому +2

      @@segaunited3855 That is why the care that STI put into Sonic 2 is so damn impressive. They had less time than they did making the original, and Sega still cared about making a quality game. Just like how the creator of Splash Wave (this show here on UA-cam) puts a lot of care into the production values of his videos.

      Sonic 2 honestly is overrated and a bit rough around the edges. Time Constraints in its development led to STI and Sonic Team having to cut corners. It was ambitious, and is still a solid title, but TBH, the game was released 85% Complete. Not 100%.

    Thank you for making this video! This brought back so many memories for me. I was waiting in the cold November air for my copy of Sonic the Hedgehog 2. I was not disappointed and my friends were absolutely envious. I might have been a huge Sega fanboy, I had (still do) both the Sega Genesis (in '89) and the Snes (in '91). I remember getting Sonic the Hedgehog and an Snes in '91 and having a 16-bit shootout at my house. My friends and I actually gave the games review scores from 1-10 in each area and adding them up for a winner takes all finally (we are doing this again this September when the Sega Genesis mini comes out against the Snes Classic, and Neo Geo Mini for good measure). The Genesis won but barely and brings me to my point....
    When Segs brought their A game, Nintendo was forced to do so in kind. We as gamers won the console war by having some amazing games that too this day stand the test if time.

    The Hidden Palace Zone eventually became a full part of Sonic 2 in the mobile port. The infamous pit in Mystic Cave Zone became an alternate path that leads to HP Zone. 2:18 That instrumental of Johnny Hates Jazz's "Don't Say It's Love" made me all giddy. Definitely one of the best musical groups of the late 80s. Excellent music choice! Really sold on your work. Definitely earned a sub from me.

      Thanks! :) I initially wanted to use "Turn back the Clock" but "Don't say it's love" fitted better musically. It is always a challenge to find rare remixes and 12inch versions that don't get copyright claims but I always try to add a couple of good old 80s tunes from my childhood to give my videos a unique flavor :)

    I've watched several of your videos at this point, and I am continually impressed.
    I'm shocked this channel doesn't have more subscribers. The level of research and the clarity and savviness of the presentation is second to none. I just want to say congratulations on finding a way to capture, preserve, and share this important history for all of us: those who lived it (I'm an 80's baby, and I miss the "console wars"!), and those yet to come.
    What an incredible channel. I hope you all are proud of yourselves, and I can't wait to see what else you have in store. PLEASE keep doing what you're doing!

    Talk about fact hunting! Guru Larry should give your channel a shout out. Was expecting rehash material on an old familiar game, but I learned plenty of new stuff. Keep up the level of quality.

    I must say, this was probably (with your video on Sonic 1) one of the most beautiful, well researched and original in their style videos i've ever seen in 6 years of UA-cam. It felt so much like a breath of fresh air in a gaming world where everyone tries to copy each other in their vids. This no daily video making now, this is ART! :)
