And all these years, I had no idea what that was about until I watched this video today. Thank you Bailey, for educating us in such a fun way!

Same here. Sounds completely useless. If they want to play dissect the frog, let them make a real looking computer programme.I'm so happy in my country we don't have this to me strange thing in education and unnecessarily cruel. I could never do it.

I'm a doctor in South Africa and the bodies they give us to dissect in our anatomy classes are people who died due to different causes and their bodies were never claimed. So no one knows who they were. Very sad. I always thought who this person was and if they even had family while dissecting..
I am an undergrad health sciences student planning on going into medicine. In Canada, our medical schools have body donation programs. I've already filled out my forms for my body to go to a university for use in the anatomy lab when I die. The bodies are kept for up to two years and then cremated; the families can either claim the remains or the university buries the bodies during the annual ceremony at a cemetery plot. The school I plan on going to has you meet with the donor's family to get to know them if they want to meet you, and some schools in Europe have begun having the students get to know donors that are terminally ill before they die. It would be sad not to know anything about your cadaver or whether or not that is what they wanted their body to be used for. We have our own history of resurrection men, though. The university I go to paid students $50 a body in the early 1800s in order to have cadavers for the anatomy lab.
@@brittanynye4268 that’s an amazing program! I’m an RN at the tail end of what’s been a life limiting prognosis (I’m 43). I’m just now deciding to retire after a big decline. So, I cannot be a donor, therefore I either want to do body farm for forensics or go to a university as a cadaver and need to decide soon, kinda based on what my family can handle. I think that is fantastic the families and donors are so involved with the students and university. I would love that. I was fortunate enough to work with a cadaver on loan from a university in nursing school, which is rare, in this class my professor was an MD and he did this for us and it was a great learning experience. I was very thankful. Best of luck with your education!

Bailey has done 10 podcast so far and one that that keeps popping up is that history will never let black people live in peace.... No matter what happen we will never get the chance to feel equal to the rest of society
It's the victim mentality you're carrying that holds you back. There's lots of successful black people who do NOT have that attitude. Look around, look in medicine, on TV, look everywhere. There's an equal amount of color in the fields of work. Furthermore, IF you're comparing the attitudes that were had over 200 years ago, you have bigger issues than you think. ALL people have had their share of trials and tribulations. Irish, Jewish, Black, lots. It is what it is, and cannot be changed. If you're pissy about things that happened 200 years ago, you either need help, or nothing is going to help you.
@@melaniekathleen4098 yes their is alot of successful black people in the world. And yes ik that there are alot of other cultures that have faced similar tribulation. But I'm talking about my race i cant speak for other races because i don't know the full extent of what they faced but i do know alot about what my race faced. Yes we have alot of black persons who are successful and in high society. But have you see a stop to oppression fo those of us who are not fortunate enuh to be apart of that society. We are still being oppressed to this day so its not like what happened 200 years ago has stopped. It has not so you need to open your eyes. I happily celebrate those who are successful but i am more concerned for the rest of us who haven't reached that level. I am also concerned for all of us who still get judge because of our skin..... I respect all other races and if push comes to shove i will stand with those who choose to stand with us. End of discussion. Have a lovely day
Dark History is a great pre-Friday kick-off!!!! Bailey teaches history as it was, not as certain groups would like it to be....thus the little known truth.
It’s so sad that the grave stealing was considered on black people’s graves! But back in the 1700 & 1800 their lives didn’t matter!!! So sad!!! Once again, I learned some history. Thank you Bailey! I love you ❤️
Truly back then no one's life mattered unless they had MONEY. It was what it was and in actuality, it is still like that. Most of the issues in the world revolve around finance. Slavery was NOT a racial thing it was a FINANCIAL thing. People with money exploited people without money. Irish were enslaved and oh yeah in American history books they were indentured servants, BUT in European history books, they were slaves. That is another thing, history is written but not always accurately. There is always a slant on things. History is history and it is something that we should all learn from not try to re-write or destroy. In the past slavery was a thing that was common, actually in some countries it is still common and a part of the culture. Is it right, not by western standards, but to go on and on and on blaming and carrying on about it is counterproductive.
@@Catsface99 you are so right! But even the poorest of white people are treated better then blacks, back in the 1700 & 1800 to present in some places by some people.
They treated them so poorly, but yet, felt they were the same as a white human by using their black bodies to learn about the human body. Like we are actually all equal/the same!!!
Every issue in every country goes back to an -ism or a -phobia. Whether it's racism, colorism, ableism, sexism, transphobia, homophobia, xenophobia or whatever else (feel free to add on), every issue exists because of discrimination.
I'm kinda sad there's no "hippity hoppity your grandma's my property" or "home invasion of the body snatchers" jokes I understand the context is horrible but there are no non horrible contexts for that

Yes, the torture of black women is included in the book. Man, the internet loves to be antagonistic and condescending without actually knowing what they're talking about lol. You're judging a book by literally less than the cover. An entire book. And you're just like "😡😡😡 must be YT garbage full of erasure" - why? What does jumping to these conclusions serve? Read the book or don't, but your comment is serving literally no one and it isn't activism.
@@guavaberries obviously it's not the same book. Chill and keep your blood pressure down.
@@justtruth5855 you've mistaken me articulating my thoughts clearly with me being emotionally affected by this interaction. But I can see that's not something you're particularly familiar with 😂
Babies weren’t even given anesthesia until 70s/80s😢insane history we have
There was studies done on keeping people awake for a long period of time. It's called the Russian Sleep Experiment. In fact that could be an idea for a episode for dark history.
❤️ Thank you so much for your time!
From what research 8ve done it's just a creepy pasta, and not real.
Mcballen covers it and it didn’t happen . Pics matched english soldiers not Russians etc .
Likely Japanese or German prison/death camp experimentation during WWII may have included something like this (sleep deprivation research, not anything in the creepypasta). I wouldn’t put it past the North Koreans either. The Russian gulags were inhumane, but I haven’t studied them to know re medical experimentation.
Also due to diseases like fatal familial insomnia, we know that sleep deprivation of sufficient length is fatal and what that progression looks like.
that's fake

I have read the story 'The Fall of the House of Usher' by Poe as a kid, and there was a mention of this in the story. In the story, a young woman dies and her brother fears that the doctors will exhume her dead body and dissect it. And all these years, I had no idea what that was about until I watched this video today.
Thank you Bailey, for educating us in such a fun way!
That was a great/creepy story
If figure if Poe wrote about it there had to be some truth in it.
As an European, I've always found it SO strange and awful that in the USA they make children dissect animals, even when they are alive, just WHY
Edit: I'm not saying everyone in the USA does this, I'm just saying I've heard of it, and *_sometimes_* even with small living animals.
Yeah I just dissected a cow heart and a sheep’s lung and both were just from a butchers rather than a live animal.
Never understood this! But I'm also European
I dissected a frog in 6th grade. It’s so gross. It smells so bad. One of the girls in my group got sick just from the stench.
Same here. Sounds completely useless. If they want to play dissect the frog, let them make a real looking computer programme.I'm so happy in my country we don't have this to me strange thing in education and unnecessarily cruel. I could never do it.
I am from Europe (Germany) and I dissected a cows eye in 8th grade. Not sure it’s still done today though (I did it 14 years ago). It smelled horrific and was definitely useless looking back on it!
Omgsh, can we just appreciate how smart and absolutely GORGEOUS this woman is?!? I love the hair and make up 1000% absolutely stunning. I also love how to real her personality is.
😞
So sad

Literally every issue in our country can be linked to racism. It's so frustrating and depressing.

Yes every country. Racism is not exclusive in america
Every issue in every country goes back to an -ism or a -phobia. Whether it's racism, colorism, ableism, sexism, transphobia, homophobia, xenophobia or whatever else (feel free to add on), every issue exists because of discrimination.
