I bought mine in 2004, used it once and thought it was stolen when my garage was broken into. I found it in my attic yesterday. Sitting in a work bag, it looks like it was just taken out of the box. I loved this jigsaw when I bought it in 2004, I still love it in 2022. Thank you for this video, much appreciated.

I just bought one today at an estate sale for 20 bucks. it is new in the box!!!! Even has the original blades and booklets that came with it. It was packaged in a steel box with a cardboard box around it. Works great. Giving it to my son who just started making a wood shop

My Mentor had an even earlier model which used a long shank “Flat head Screw driver” as the fastening tool during blade changes. I can remember He was so Jazzed when He bought the tool. I went a different direction not wanting to ho the “T-Shank” rout. I stayed with the now very dated “Universal/U Shank” blade style. The tool was the “Sawzit” by Milwaukee and rather than the Base Tilt the whole Head unit pivoted both left and right to gain your desired angle. I Loved it so much I had bought a second one just in case. But the First still performs as it did when New. In some cases the Older Tools Still hold their own even in today’s market of disposable tools... Great Video, Greg

Wow Gregory. I remember those tools. So crazy you still have it. I think my father In law had one. He loved Milwaukee saws. But yes the t shank saw blades are universal now. Kind of like beta vs Vhs. Only one made it big. Thanks for watching and commenting.

David I wanted to let you know I have the same Bosch jigsaw that I bought from Home Depot about 20 years ago but I got mine in a barrel grip. I just like those better and actually I have a new Makita jigsaw as well that I haven't even used yet because the Bosch is so good. I'm going to look at my Bosch jigsaw tomorrow and see where the base plate is mounted to the jigsaw I might have to move mine like you did. Thanks for the tech tip. Take care my friend

I went shopping for a Jigsaw today, I wanted a good one as I have always only had junk. Thought I was going to buy a $200.00 Makita until I realized it did not come with batteries, and the two pack of batteries brought the saw up to $400.00. That is just absurd, I asked the salesman where the corded ones were and both the Bosch and Makita models were no where to be found. Got fed up with the whole circus and went to a pawn shop. They had several junky el cheapo's and then I saw it shoved to the back of the shelf, a Bosch 1587. The finish is not great but all the screws looked to have never had a driver on them I plugged it in and it purred like a well oiled sewing machine. It was on sale for $24.00 : D I have not checked to see what these are worth but I imagine $24.00 was a good deal. Will be cleaing it up tomorrow and testing it's performance.

Awesome find. I hope it works well for you. Get good blades. That makes a huge difference. Sorry to hear about the makita. I bought mine on eBay as a bare tool. It’s nice but the Bosch still gives me better cuts and I can see the blade better for scribing. Normally, for cordless ease, I use makita in the field but when I’m in shop and I need ultra accuracy I use Bosch.

I have the 1581VS - have it FOREVER - but lately it's not cutting correctly, I have it squared up (PS - I also did realize I could move the plate back to that 2nd hole - awesome) - I can't seem to dial it in - if sort of drifts meaning my cuts begin square and midway thru the cut sort of angles. I never force it - and I try to not push lateral etc etc. meaning I let the tool do the work. Originally I thought, is the blade to blame? where the right kerfs are sharper than the left or something - but it does it with new blades too. I dont recall ever dropping it. is something out of align now? Have you had this happen, ps great channel.

My experience with Bosch jigsaw was not good. The saw did a great job and I was happy with it until it started having part failures. It was a 1591 EVS. I only used it a few times during the warranty period, then shortly after the warranty expired the speed control failed. It ran for several years after that, and then recently I was using it to cut a thin piece of flooring when the motor slowed and smoke came out of the tool...the armature burned up! I didn't use this tool very often, and it was never abused. Now I'm hesitant to buy another Bosch saw or other tool.

Its very frustrating that almost all of the tool manufactures are going to cheaper tools made mostly with plastic. I would be very willing to purchase a better made tool but they are not available. Ive got a Porter Cable 503 locomotive sander and a 314 worm drive 4 1/2 inch trim saw. Both of these are buy once tools. You just cant wear them out.
