How to make ULTRA thin floating night stands

- I've made a pair of floating nightstands from an IKEA bamboo cutting boards. I was intended to achieve a minimalist shelve, without legs, lightweight. This is a really easy weekend project that you can do with a table saw and a router. I'm aware this is not able to hold lots of weigh but it's perfecty functional to hold about 2kg without flexing. +Mikhandmaker Me alegro que te gustara el detalle. También pensé en realizar dos pequeñas piezas de bamboo para tapar la parte expuesta de metal pero sinceramente, a la altura en la que se encuentran hay que tumbarse al suelo para ver el herraje. Y el efecto que produce es brutal en directo, dando la sensación de ser más delgadas y livianas. Un saludo!

Was that 2 pieces glued together to make a board that wide? Nice job matching up the grain. Virtually invisible joint. Next time try using E-Z Anchors if they are available in your area. They are much stronger than regular plastic shields.

+José Molina Gracias José! El que suelo usar es el que venden en ikea por unos 5€ el 1/2 litro. También lo puedes encontrar como aceite para bebés en farmacias pero debes vigilar porque la mayoría de estos llevan perfume lo cual, según mi criterio, no los hace muy adecuados.

+Marcos Magnasco Hola Marcos. Mineral spirits aquí sería como el aguarrás símil que venden en todas partes. Y se usa para limpiar la madera antes de aplicar el acabado. Al tener poder disolvente ayuda en la limpieza pero también revela defectos en el lijado, o si hay algún resto de cola en la pieza. De todas formas creo que te confundes porque en este proyecto lo que uso es mineral oil, es decir aceite mineral, que es un acabado para la mesilla de noche.

Nice work, but please make an insert for your table saw. Those cutoffs falling into the saw are a huge safety hazard and I was nervous just watching it.
+Michael Grimes Hi Michael. Thanks for your concern. I always use the zero clearance insert for my 90deg cuts. In the case showed on this video I needed to remove due my angle cut insert from makita is broken (cheap plastic). Anyway there's no risk at all because those strips are really thin and the big piece wasn't touching the table top and was really well attached on the jig. Regards!
