12:17 word - making content people want to watch → then ppl have to watch (steady improvement overtime)
19:15 very interesting insight - cater to the audience and once you grow, the algo. is in your favor to grow in the niche
24:24 interesting - sketch thumbnails b4 filming the video
26:00 replace the world "algorithm" with audience
    30:00 interesting - even w/ 100 mil most views come from non-subscribers
    37:30 interesting problem w/ short
45:30 summer = everyday is good for posting; school year = Saturdays
49:25 end video on emotional note
50:50 very interesting - different formats is the future + digital shopping
53:55 70% retention on longer form because it's difficult to do. so algo. would notice this
56:20 make videos people want to watch, consider the breadth of audience you're targeting within the niche you want to produce in, and then aim for 70% retention for that specific content. don't expect max views, but expect max retention within that niche because that's who you're making content for

He's not really revealing the true secrets of what the algorithm does. For example, TikTok immediately sends a video that gets posted to about 100 people and based on the reaction will decide whether to continue pushing it to other viewers. Even if all you post is a blank screen, you'll get 100 views. UA-cam doesn't really do this. They will push it to many viewers and see the response, but if the response is not good enough, they simply no longer push the video and you will never see any views. UA-cam also only recommends videos in your feed if they have at least tens of thousands of views and usually it's more like several hundred thousand or million. TikTok will share a video to a person's feed even if it has zero views. There is a lot more going on behind UA-cam's algorithm than he is divulging. Personally I think TikTok's algorithm outbeats UA-cam's (at least for shorts).

Whatever algorithm they are using messed youtube up. It was much more interested before with the ability to see all kinds of variety of content. Now you get to see more of whatever the previous 10 videos you watched were and you're stuck in a loop of the same content. The only people who really get views now are people who make it a full time job to dance for the algorithm and use extreme faces and clickbait title. It's much harder to find those interesting, 'homegrown' channels. I rarely see any new, viral funny videos. Only the same 'big creators' over and over.

Jimmy made a very good point. Too many people these days think of finding the easiest way to do things, instead of producing the best
    .
As someone who has worked with sound systems in church, I get frustrated when the speaker/singer consistently does NOT hold the mic like an ice cream cone close to their mouths. (We can only increase the gain so much) The difference between these two was obvious. The information was pure gold of course, but harder to hear Jimmy at times.

While I agree that content creators should make the best videos they can, but Jimmy saying that the quality of your video matters more than the algorithm..... that is him not being in the trenches of the small channels anymore.
You could make highest quality video on the platform, but if you arent already a big channel and the algorithm doesn't push your video..... no one will see it.

Your comment is interesting. It shows that you understand how youtube works to a certain degree. I can see why you say that if you aren't a big creator youtube won't push your videos but if you watch this video again I think you'll change your opinion. In the video its explained that the algorithm has to figure out a channels audience. Simply put the algorithm has an easier time finding a big channels audience. This is because youtube's algorithm has profiles on every channel. I know the video does not mention youtube having profiles on every channel but that is how it works. Now imagine a small channels profile...it will most likely have an underwhelming profile due to basically not having enough views and that is a flaw youtube's algorithm has. At the same time small channels have an obligation to figure out their audience. We can't just wait around for the algorithm to figure things out for us, that is just lazy. I hope you comment back, I'd like to know your thoughts.

@@hubjinthegreat I’m gathering from you that the idea is to create videos wherein the target audience is obvious to the algorithm?

Really or truthfully they didn’t want cars until the car came a long and met needs/values better than the horse did. The needs/values are more fundamental.
Teleportation device as the zenith/platonic ideal of transportation. Why? People want what they want immediately. In the case of transportation they want to get to a different place immediately.(they also a care about safety, etc.) The car comes closer to this than the horse and that’s why it beats the horse.
What makes something ideal/perfect to the human mind and beyond? What are the fundamental principles? What do humans values most? What is most valuable? How can myself and others achieve the highest of all values now and forever?
What is the zenith/platonic ideal of content? What are all the different parts that make up the whole of content in order of most to least important to focus on personalized to me for the greatest results in shortest time? What is the ideal of each part? What are the best examples of a full piece of content and what are the best examples each individual part currently? What gives rise to them/what can one do and stop doing to generate them/have them emerge?
A lot of things mentioned by people as advice are high level, what is the 80/20 list of concrete actionable things to implement/adapt in ones videos to see great results.
