My DM threw a Kobold encounter at us on one of my first ever sessions. Knowing literally nothing if the lil dudes, when I was the first to see "a small humanoid dragons in the distance" my draconic speaking Aasimar paladin was like "I wana go make friends with the tiny dragons!" and a rolled a nat20 on the roll I was asked to make as I walked up to them. Long to short, the little combat encounter with some Kobolds turned into use clearing a Kobold home of a bunch of orcs and rescuing most of their tribe (2 had already been killed when we arrived). When we were parting ways I gave the Kobolds about 30gp to help them out on their way and their leader gave me a conch shell. Fast forward several sessions when we were facing off against the BBEG and I blew into the conch, 2 rounds later a dozen Kobolds came riding in on Drakes. It was absolutely glorious to see those lil dudes come thundering in and wrecking all of the minions while the party and I focused the BBEG.
I was playing in a one shot last year, and our kobold druid named "Snek" (guess what his wild shape was) decided to cushion his fall down a hole by landing on the kenku rogue. he failed his check and the rogue turned around to see a very angry little kobold flat on his face in the dirt.

In a book series called Spells, Swords, and Stealth by Drew Hayes there is a god of minions who is a Cobolt. He's a good god who helps out minion races that prey to him, including gnomes.
I have a great idea for a campaign. Have the players start off as level 1 kobolds of whatever class. They are all clutch mates and they must help their tribe thrive in a forest near a Castle. The castle will send adventurers to snuff them out and they will have to defeat them. The campaign ends around level 5 when they secure their tribe, or they get whipped out. Then the players play as adventurers coming from that castle taking on missions and probably also dealing with their previous kobold characters. I would use the Kobold part to get the players more familiar with the setting so they know more about it when they play their non kobold characters who would already know basic stuff about the world
FYI, if you put a couple of kobolds with ranged weapons at the far end of a large room or long corridor, players will often charge straight at them without paying attention to their surroundings. Valuable teaching moment.

A bond of friendship is formed and the Kobold becomes a sort of caretaker for the animals the Druid befriends on their adventures

Maybe a video about pixies soon? They are another cannon fodder but with a lot more background and I think telling about them would make a good video
AND THEN THERE'S DEEKIN.
Was expecting to hear more about the dog kobolds
So you're telling me Spinner from My Hero is a Kobold? Confusing times we live in.
I don’t play dnd but I love the fucking videos on it. The lore is pretty good.
I just imagine a Kobold enter a room to be surrounded by gnomes and for them to say "We are gnomes and you have just been gnomed!"
