@@45eno one big benefit of snow tires is when you have to stop. You stop like 7 feet sooner with snow tires. That could mean avoiding hitting someone when hard braking. Snow tires definitely make a difference and anyone who says otherwise has never used them or does not drive much to experience the difference.
I have a 14 and my husband has an 08. Both are awesome in the snow. I do have to say that I prefer the older escape body style. I feel like I’m driving in a car because it’s lower to the ground. Other than that I love our escapes
Winter tires are best 2 wheel drive or 4. Doesnt matter now a days lots of vehicle's come from the factory with low profile tires which makes getting dedicated winters even more important.
I have a 2016 Ford Exscape SE 2.0 All wheel drive turbo .Purchased it out of a lease with 22,634 miles to be exact. Now 61,110.(Feb 23 ,2022 )I replaced rotor and brake pads Routine full synthetic oil changes every 6,000 miles , Driven on a few mountain sides. Never stuck or had to call for tow.Its comfortable to drive ,Sucks on gas is the only default.
I love the way my 2016 Escape drives in the snow - I feel safe in it - now only if my radio console had sound so I could put music to my ride I'd be all set - I had a Dodge Colt years ago that moved in pretty deep snow
He didn't lie. I have a 2016 4WD Escape and it performs exactly as what you see in the video. I have driven other Escapes and they all do well in the snow, even the FWD did better than most cars.
My mother just bought a used 16 Escape Titanium. I'm sure it will be good in the winter but the fuel economy is brutal for a crossover. Right now its getting averaging the the same as my V8 150.
Got the 2019 titanium. Last year we had ice and snow. I have a downgrade just to leave my neighborhood. It was icy. Did not slide at the bottom. I did the speed limit on a highway. Traffic backex up so unplowed back road was next. Unfortunately a nissan rogue, subaru car and chevy pickup were in front. Driving so slow. 8 miles before able to pass. The chevy slid trying to pass. I did not. Not a fan of crossovers but i love this 1.
I just bought an '11 Edge, but this guy was such a smooth talker he had me reaching for my wallet the entire video. LOL. I have the computer controlled AWD on my Edge, and am just waiting for a good storm to see how it does. I really need a heavy snowfall and an empty parking lot.
These where to stock tires, I think all season. The traction control was on. I was the camera guy, and it didn't slip one bit and I am not just saying that.
The Escape does well in deep snow, but the low front skirt does get stuck, so it may be prone to be broken. Also, make sure to change out the tires. The stock Titanium tires are shit for snow/ice, especially in below freezing temps.
Thanks, Jacob - we hope you'll keep us on your shopping list in the future. We have lots of great models from Ford, Lincoln and Mazda - and the new features are really outstanding. Plus, we carry a wide variety of used vehicles. All the best to you!
Get that Escape up to speed 35-45mph and then try to stop quickly for a red light. The computer, the AWD are all relying on the tires. If the tires can't grip the electronics will do little to help. The masses have been programmed to think AWD is the biggest factor to winter weather driving. I would take a FWD Escape w/ Blizzaks over AWD version running only stock tires in the winter. The FWD with winters will start from a stop about the same as the AWD on stocks but then when it comes to stopping the FWD w/ winters will absolutely murder the AWD on stocks. Best is AWD with Winter tires as you have both the AWD benefits combined with proper grip for all scenarios from swerving, braking, accelerating. But sales staff will simply promote AWD AWD AWD over tires. They don't mention the added cost of maintenance from the rear diff, tire rotation, replacement tire issues when 1 tire is ruined and you now need to replace all 4 in many cases. AWD with stock tires is good but it doesn't trump FWD with snow tires in winter conditions. Who cares if you can get started if you can't stop well at speed. I have own and driven both AWD, FWD with stock and winter tires. Selling my Subaru for a family van and moving my Blizzak WS70 tires over to the van made me realize I could do without all the penalties of AWD and still have winter mountain pass level of travel safety with FWD simply equipped with the proper rubber. I now have both FWD van w/ Blizzaks and AWD w/ Blizzaks and would have no problem taking either out in a paved snow storm, my AWD will only get me up to speed quicker.
YES VERY...!!! It was rated #2 behind the Honda CRV and i believe still is. It out performs the Mazda CX-5, Rav 4, and Hyundai Tucson & Santa Fe Sport. If your going to go American you can't go wrong with a Ford Escape. They have A LOT of European engineering considering it's European and Asian counterpart is called the Ford Kuga.
With my Ford Focus front drive and snow tires, I can drive also everywhere in the tiny roads of swiss alps!!! Don’t need a 4 wheels drive!!! Maybe you should learn how to drive on snow??
At that speed and in that snow, a Focus would do just as well. Of course what do you Virginians know about snow anyway? You don't test cars in even, soft, fresh snow, at low speed on a parking lot. Snow freezes overnight and gains unpredictable texture. When you combine that with ice and imperfect pavement, then you really need an AWD or 4WD. You should have your flashers on when you're driving slowly on a highway no matter what your powertrain is. That's more of a breaks/tires issue. By the way, even with flashers on, that minivan is driving just as well as you are.
George L You should never drive with your emergency flashers on, ever... Unless you're in an emergency, like the name implies. It is illegal to drive with them on.
@@JM811Cars JM811 Cars using flashers depends on your states laws, half the states it is not illegal and here in New York there are signs posted on the thruway that state you must use flashers when traveling below the speed limit.
LOL. Just be honest with your self, compare this with others, such as Subaru AWD, also Subaru's do not rust out in 10 years. They get much better gas mileage being a AWD vehicle, they are TOP safety pick. Never trust a sales person, research it for your self.
This is a great video. Never seen anyone test drive a car in the winter. thanks!
I love watching this video! i come back often just to watch again and again! lol
I have the 2017 escape titanium and it handles great i literally can't get it stuck.

all season tires are fine for puting around in snow once in a while but if you have to do some miles in snow its much better to get 4 winter tires.
But but they have AWD....
