What I love about a gentleman's style is that you don't have to buy anything too expensive, I got a very nice winter coat at Costco for only 99$ CDN. I upgraded for a 230$ coat recently and I really like the way they both look.

I love the Gentlemans Gazette. When the video is about something, he tells you the history, what its made off, when to not wear or wear it, and how to rock it.
Follow up comment: get a black wholecut Chelsea and mid brown Johdpur. This is a brilliant combination of versatility that will cover just about any occasion or formality up to cocktail attire.
While I'm not a fan of Chelsea boots, I like this video. It gives a good base to draw from. I will give Jodhpur boots a closer look and I look forward to the next boot video.
God help me. ...Raphael you take any particular clothing item or accessory...and you just raise it up to the level of high art. I'm just stunned at some of the color, texture, pattern combinations you come up with. And they all work! I've never seen chukka's or chelsea's with sock and pants combinations like I just saw here in this video! You put the bar up very high my friend...but it is worth the jump. Thank you.
''It is great for men who like clean, classic and elegant lines and who don't just want to buy a boot anybody else has.'' He precisely described me while waiting for my first ever luxurious Jodhpur boots. Socking precision.
For christmas, I wore a tuxedo with very sleek and elegant jet black chelsea boots. Was a great match in my opinion, even tough it's not a usual combination, tux + chelsea.
I've bought 3 pairs of boots this year. Allen Edmonds Daltons in brown weatherproof with dainite (beautiful busines casual, but also works as a rugged boot), the Dalton in Oxblood which is an entirely different vibe than the weatherproof edition. Sleeker and more formal. Elegant even but still casual. Then my pair of Carmina solid black balmorals are on the way now. Went with a calf skin lower and upper giving it more of the oxford appearance. My next pair will have a suede upper though.
Having owned only Chukkas and Chelseas (not including military, hiking, and work boots) previously, this video was the final push thar convinced me to get a set of of mid-dark brown Johdpurs. As an aside, I'm not especially convinced about Chukkas anymore. They're less versetile and more casual than other options, and somewhat of a bad compromise in the summer. Unless you had to wear Boots i.e. military undress tans in hot climates, why not opt for something more temperature appropriate? If it's comfortable enough weather for jeans or cotton kahkis, it's comfortable enough for enough for boots.
I never understood why Chelseas are acceptable with suits but not chukkas. If its made with quality leather and has minimal broding, its hard to distinguish between a chukka and other dress shoes if your pants fit correctly. The Chelsea however, you can easily see the insert on the side and looks less formal because of that in my opinion. Just my 2 cents
Chukkas like AE for Massdrop, and some of the U.K. brands look fine w/ a casual suit (cotton, linen, corduroy, moleskin, tweed). These materials have depth and texture to them which can pair nicely w/ chukkas and other casual or country footwear. Most Chelsea boots are sleek in structure and work best w/ wool fine trousers, jeans, chinos, thin wale cords ( no thick or chunky materials).
I have developed lately an interest in chelsea boots but my trousers are skinny do you think its a good idea to have the trouser tacked into the boots. somebody help
@gentlemansgazette my question is can a balmoral or button boot be worn with black tie. I figure at least a certain way the balmoral would be made would work. That and the button boot just based upon seniority in formality history wise right?
As I start out my boot collection, I got a pair of black chukkas from Thursday. I was going to just barely polish them, but then, after a glass of wine, my old muscle memory from boot camp kicked in and I absentmindedly gave them a full military spit shine. Mirror toes. I took a step back, realizing what i had done, and admired my work. I could actually see myself wearing these with a suit! Gentlemen, I believe I have accidentally created an elegant abomination: the formal chukka.
I'm thinking of a CobblervUnion Balmoral. I Live in a HOT climate (summer 110-120), but work indoors. I like them so much, I'm inclined to not worry as much about the heat. Thoughts?
Sven got me thinking about buying a pair of goodyear welted laced up boots. However I would like to know why certain classic boot brands are not discussed such as the Clarks desert boots and the Timberland. Are they too rugged?
Just got chelsea boots... Pretty much perfect fit just not that easy to get on but no heel slip annoyance at least. Great fit. Meermin black chelsea boots. I love CHELSEAS!! :D :) Fricking love my chelsea. I will need to use my shoehorn.
I've a question that is off topic , are lapel flower pin meant only for a wedding ? cuz anytime Ive accessorize with lapel pin and pocket square people ask me if im going to a wedding
knottykid Lapel flower pins increase the formality of an outfit, therefore they might be associated with weddings, but you can wear them almost with any suit

At least in my experience being from the South and growing up lower to lower middle class in a working class city. So it's a cultural barrier to deal with when you work in an environment that leans towards business wear most of the time while your family and friends go to work wearing Dickies pants, work boots, and old t shirts. I was ecstatic when I found this channel because I don't have that generational knowledge on business and formal fashion.

Hey Sven, I just cams from reading your article on Jodhpurs. I've been looking online for the dark brown suede Jodhpurs, whose image you linked on the article, but can't find them. Do you remember where they are from? Thank you for your time :)
You have two different videos about the Chukka boot and you give different etymology origins in each video. In this video it's a reference to the sport of Polo, but in your Chukka boot video it stems from the Hindi word Chukkar- for 'round' or 'turn'.
Chelsea Boots have become my favorite Style of shoes mostly because I can wear them almost all year in Western Europe except Summer and they match with so many different outfits. What companies can you recommend for some suede dark brown or tan chelsea boots? (Maybe not to expensive because I'm a student)
Can someone please suggest me good brands and models for winter boots? I am looking for boots that I can wear outdoors( say for a 15-20 min walk to the office when it is snowing) as well as inside the office as formal wear.
Well there were/are 2 good boots in that video: button boots, whom are the most formal boots, and tricker's boots who are semi-formal but ok, all the others are just awful .
Chukka boots and desert boots are not the same. Similar but not the same. You mention them like they are the same. Chukkas have rubber or leather soles, desert boots are usually rubber. Chukka have two eyelets and Chukka have three. Also desert have prominent stitching and chuka's stitching is more subtle.
I think they state the difference correctly in the article and the video that focuses on the chukka boot and/or the one that reviews the Clark desert boot? :)
There's something about COWBOY BOOTS. I once saw a publicity photo of Tom Cruise during his TOP GUN days- sitting casually in a formal blue 3-piece pinstripe suit - but with Cowboy Boots. Western boots are actually very comfortable and versatile. They can be dressed up or down. It would be nice to see a video on those.
Jim D Yeah but this man doesn't really seem the type of man to wear them so
Ya it all depends on the type style. I try to dress in a business casual but with a rugged twist. I wish there was more of that kind of inspiration.
Have you looked at Real Men Real Style? He touches on it a bit, and I think The Art of Manliness does, as well.
Waiting for that video about the all American cowboy boot.
