London Underground: Old D78 Stock at West Kensington

- This short film is a prelude to a series showing the District and Piccadilly lines in the west of London.
Between Earl’s Court and Acton Town the District line runs “local” while the Piccadilly line runs “express,” skipping several stops.
We start off this series at West Kensington, which is between Barons Court and Earl’s Court stations. In fact, this station is special in that the District line stops here on an overground platform, while the Piccadilly line skips this station underground. So there are no Piccadilly line trains in this video yet.
The District line is operated with lovely old D78 stock, which is gradually being replaced with S7 stock. This film shows a few trains calling at West Kensington station, all purely formed of D78 stock.
The next film in this series will then also feature Piccadilly line trains.

in 2:05 you said they are going to be replaced in summer 2016. they are being replaced in dec 2016

Yes, this is normal. There is a gap in one or both of the live rails here, and the train is bridging the gap.
i heard the D Stock is retiring in Summer 2016
yes, and some of the d stock is going to be converted to diesel for use on the national rail network

+Luftschlange lol no, just it seems that you are really good at filming trains, with the sound and all. Also trains in Sydney and Melbourne seem like a much different experience than those in London and NYC. And to me it is a good different.
+Tanki Divide Hi Tanki, I live in Melbourne and know both Melbourne and Sydney systems. The Sydney system is great, The Melbourne system and its trains are utter crap!!!
