Always interesting to be working in a greenout situation. I have one place I used to cut once a year that the weeds were about 7' tall. I had to use my GPS to tell me where I was until I could clear it enough to see over the hill.
Yeah I know what you mean. It was my wife mowing and me yelling over the tractor on this one. We still managed to find an old well head. Fortunately it was with the front tire and is just cracked the top 1' casing. Unfortunately the armadillo who had a burrow next to it stumbled out in the middle of the night and fell down the well. Bummer way to go I would imagine.
Best hogging for that is a skid steer where the bush hog clears ahead of you. That there can hide limbs etc that can rip or break hydraulic lines etc… Not to mention clog up radiator with particulates and overheat the engine.
Unfortunately skid steers don't plow so good. I have a tractor so that is what I use. On our place a tractor gets used about 200 days out of the year. I would use a steer about 30-40. Tractor is more practical for our setup. And yes those are all good points. Cut off an air hose extension to clean radiator and just have to be careful with hydraulic hoses...although on the 2155 they run front to back and not side to side so they don't catch all that easily.
beauzero where u at in Ga? I live 4 miles south of GA. I have a piece of my property that looks like this that i want to bush hog, a lot of grape vines and tall stuff just like in this video. Do you think it's possible to cut with a 25 horse tractor or u think you need a bigger tractor like that to get thru it
ok i see it sure doent have a problem with that 7 ft bushhog in that thick stuff. i have a jd 5205 and just bought a 6 ft brown mower cant wait to try it out but my place is to wet have to wait till it drys out some
I know what you mean. That was the problem down on this piece of our property too. By the time it dried out the kudzu was out of control. Need to get a bottom plow on it this spring to bury some of the kudzu up and replant with bermuda.
Travis I also found out that I have a hydraulic filter that needs to be swapped out over the weekend. Looks like if it's under load (dropping the bucket) there is significant hydraulic leakage. Without proper hydraulic circulation heat can become a bigger issue as well. The 2155 is just a beast. I can keep adding hydraulic fluid and things still work well, not good for the tractor or the environmental health of my pastures, but still good to know that it can take the abuse.
Christopher I definitely will. Only got it about 4 months ago and I was still working through some heat related issues that I have resolved. I will definitely post a review and general walk through.
Yeah it's Kudzu growing over the top of brambles and short 2-3' oak seedlings. This is step one of getting it cleared. Going to go back over it with a bottom plow and then seed rye and bermuda for horse pasture.
@@incognito5986 We did. We still mow once a year. Need to get fence finished in the back and the plan is to put cows and goats on it. The well that was back there has been rediscovered and should start producing again soon.
So do we. Trouble is we just bought this place and didn't know what was under it. Found a new well. New to us...from the looks of the cistern it has been there about 20 years. Now we need to get a solar pump in it.

Yea, the unknowns are always entertaining. I found a new finish mower one time. Stolen, and hidden there I suppose. You just never know.

Only thing I hate doing about this is hitting a mystery wasp or bees nest haha
So far it's only happened with the lawn mower. :)
No doubt, especially the little bastard yellow jackets 🐝
Better hope you don't run over a yellow jacket nest cutting that shit in the summer time with an open station tractor......
I do all the time. Its a bummer
I thought the same thing....not a matter of if but when.
I just use my Grandma's sewing scissors to cut that shit. Tractors are for sissy's!
Lol yea that's why I went to a cab, that and no more branches to the face
why arent you running at full pto speed for 540 rpm on mower? control speed thru gears
...because I need to flush the radiator on the tractor.
It may not be the radiator either it may need to have the thermostat replaced. Not sure just haven't had the 1/2 day to take it apart and check.

dang those weeds are as tall has me
Can you do a review of the 2155?
Christopher I definitely will. Only got it about 4 months ago and I was still working through some heat related issues that I have resolved. I will definitely post a review and general walk through.
thanks man i really appreciate it big time
wow! How many hp has it?
I think the 2155 is rated at 55hp and the PTO is between 35-40hp
Big foot going to snatch you off that tractor so fast.
You sure that's a 7 foot bush hog?
Kudzu ?

@@beauzero how did it turn out? Get it (kudzu) under control?

This is dangerous? We do this every weekend.
It was his first time. You know how them virgins are.
