Imagine yourself groping in the dark at 3am on your way to the bathroom, tripping over some cables, falling over, and being impaled by the Prysma.

This is the best thing I've read all day ;D
Then mistaking your sozo ottoman for a toilet seat?

Oh man, I worked IT for a company who decided chumby's were a good idea for their offices.
They weren't.
lol
+Joshua Tiberius I always wanted a chumby but never got one I used my N800 as a fake one via the virtual chumby web page while that page lasted.
-_-
I feel your pain
OH god... just how bad was it pray tell?
The yellow Prisma computer looks like a Wet Floor sign.
And that's all that it will ever be.
and that cilinder one looks like photon torpedo from star trek
The wet floor confirmed.
Or a highly functional road pylon :P
(At an office)
Hank: Dave the janitor just finished mopping the floor. But there is no wet floor signs!
Dave: oh just use one of those ugly yellow prisma computer things.
Let’s be honest the early 2000’s were a lawless wasteland. Spaghetti strap tank tops, MP3 players, and giant clam shell laptops.

My only gripe with the iMac G4 has to do with the footprint it takes on the desk. If you like your monitor tall, no problem. I like my monitor to be close to the keyboard. So by the time I pull it down that far, the iMac G4 takes as much room on a desk as an old-fashioned CRT.
Hey 8-bit guy what's up
The 8-Bit Guy hi stop making video's stop about Apple
The G4 May seem like a fail, and it kinds was, but it is so iconic.
i still have a g4, its sitting like 10ft away from mr rn lol

Suggestion: Strangest Computer Designs of the 2010s
Since we're only a couple months from a new decade, do you have a "Strangest computer designs of the 2010s" video planned?

"low power high cost"..... every apple product ever lol
+DigitallyDistracted or people smart enough not to buy into gimmicky shit.
Now just say it like the apple narrator.
+DigitallyDistracted Lmao, what a fanboy! Remember, everyone have an opinion, and not buing overpriced stuff dont make people poor.
Why would you pay 2000$ extra just to have the apple logo on your pc?
Let's be honest, I have no idea how my apple desktops have survived 6 years, lol.
i have a w700. its still bad ass, no body expects it when it flips out the second screen
That Lenovo, good lord. I remember that my mom's office had them back when I helped out there several years ago. I discovered the second panel by complete accident and it freaked me the hell out.
We always called our iMac G4 "the mushroom Mac."
Cannot unsee
BADGER BADGER BADGER

"Others thought it looked like a bomb."
The delivery of that line is why I'm subscribed to you!
One of the best lines LGR ever made
You know, aside from the battery life, I would really use that second screen on the thinkpad for email on the side or a timer or something.
+Guy Crew Watch porn on it and if someone sees you just slide the screen away quickly. lol
+Guy Crew I saw a similar product called Sliden'Joy. Now you can watch three porn videos at the same time!
+Guy Crew Same
you are right the second screen would be nice for emails or Google hangouts
+HDose I looked it up and man that looks so useful for more than just whackin off. I want it except I feel like it'd probably mutilate my laptop's battery life.
That little Windows keypad PC (like a Blackberry) was awesome and inspired lots of tech designs.
+EposVox That looked like the best of the bunch
+EposVox I wanted one of those so bad when i was a kid. Although you can get a Windows tablet now that's orders of magnitudes more powerful for a fraction of a fraction of the price (and i love my windows tablet) they just aren't as cool.
PC Gamer ads were my childhood dreams. Give it up for Voodoo!
Its fan was louder than the speakers, but hey some people like having a jet turbine in their pocket
what a poor computer low user not using standard protection realism
Apple criticized for low power and high price? heh
I'll have to disagree with you there. Apple products have made a very large trend of locking buyers out of most of it's capabilities, so they're usually criticized for that. I'm not fond of Linux or MS, but they at least understand buyers to an extent.

That's just not true. Here's a pc with similar specs to an iMac that's about 400$ cheaper. Now, there are a few differences, like the number of ports, but I doubt they are really worth 400$

I think the G4 is a beautiful computer.
I think so too! I'd love to own one someday, but the only ones I've seen for sale in local stores have been turned into other things, like a mirror haha.
Here's one of those mirrors:

It was the first Apple computer that I really wanted.
I have one that I picked up in a dumpster that is working.
Ik I love them too
Man, 2000's times were SCARY
+Flakman I think back on then sometimes. GWB man. Scary, absurd times.
Flakman the pure subtly of this reference is what makes it great.
1940s were scary
1990s was scary
Scary awesome
The W700DS also has a colour calibrator and wacom tablet built into the palm-rest, as if a second screen wasn't enough of a unique feature.
"Others found it looked.... more like a bomb" I bust out laughing. That I*magine machine certainly is one of the more tastefully designed products in this vid. It looks like it should be on the cover of a Brookstone catalog.
Lenovo ahead of the CES 2017 crowd there.
Alastair Ward Razer was like " You know what's better than a computer with two built-in displays? A computer with THREE built-in displays."
And then they made a thing for CES and someone stole it.

It’s almost time for Weird 2010’s Computers...
Reach for juggernog tonight!!
Iunno, I'm pretty worried about weird 2015 computers rn
Oh my god, my old pre-school had one of those little tikes computers. So many memories of little kids fighting over who's going next, whilst my friends and I were always hogging it. It's been ages.
So... Who thinks the Steam machines will be on the next list sometime in 2020? :^)
+bummer6
I'm hoping Valve goes out of business before then.
Probably not Steam Machines as a whole, but some of the models out of the dozens released most certainly.
+MarioFanaticXV well, don't get your hopes up
as long as Steam is popular and people are playing TF2, there's no way Valve is going out of business any time soon
roket minecrafter even if TF2 died, CS:GO wouldn't ever die, and that is Valve's biggest title at the moment with some of the highest player figures of all multiplayer games, and that makes it a huge moneymaker for Valve. So yeah, Valve's never really going to go out of business at this rate.
roket minecrafter lol, found you.

Now that the 2010's are wrapped up I'd love to see a list of the strangest pcs from the last decade
"Strangest PC Designs of the 2010s" should be uploaded on New Year's Day, 2020.
Damn... this... this subscription I made to this channel back in a sunny summer day of 2012 just for a "Top 17 Worst PC Games" was worth it.
The iTrashCan...that's gonna have me in a laughing fit for a bit...
The very first computer tower you showed in the video looks EXACTLY like the tower sitting fourteen inches from my right hand...
Please don't tell me you mean your member...
Apple iBin. $2500 and only accepts certified Apple garbage. The pedal is an extra $1000 and is a proprietary mechanism.
The tower in question...
is a 2008 DELL Optiplex 330.
Still sitting about fourteen inches from my right hand, though below my right hand as I finally have a desk and chair now instead of just a damned coffeetable.
Lenovo W700ds from 2008.
Dual screen.
Here Razer thought they were first with multi screen laptop at CES 2017.
Sure...
That Lenovo with 2 screens is a useful concept. I do graphic design and photography work and I almost always use 2 screens. A main screen for my actual project and a second screen to display references, etc. Someone should make that concept work
buy a cheap 8-13" tablet with a good screen, and a stand for it, it will be cheaper, weigh less, and you can go with only one of the 2. If you use a tablet with a pen you could get a wacom cintiq (you can't use it by itself except for the companion and it's expensive though), or an asus vivo tab note 8+a wacom feel stylus (or a samsung s pen with eraser, the original stylus doesn't have one and it's pretty annoying.).
"It was criticized for its low power and high cost"
So, nothing has changed withing apple then.
Outstanding vid. God, I love this type of stuff. That Thinkpad is bad ass.
+Elder Geek Agreed! I wanted that so bad when it came out. Sadly I was a broke college student, so that was but a dream.
Don't mind me, I am just revisiting this video after watching the new pyramid case build.
When do we get one of these for the 2010s?
Although that would just be Alienware stuff and those tiny cylindrical Macs.
EDIT: Well, thanks!
this...this wasn't an april fool's prank.... well played LGR
I had to Google.
THANK GOODNESS THIS IS NOT AN APRIL FOOLS VIDEO!
+panda hero These designs are enough of an April Fool's joke.
i've seen a few videos on your channel. so far, all of them turned out to be awesome (and educating ;). keep up the good work!
the Ottoman PC looks like a Laptop built into a Potty.
DerDa if you want that I here is something out there called the iPotty
It is real btw
I thought "iPotty" was an alternate name given to any apple product. Figures.
I definitely almost bought an OQO on a few different occasions, but I just couldn't bring myself to fork out that level of cash for it. But, I loved the design of it!
Oh man, I had one of those Chumbys! I was actually in the first alpha program, and received one of the first 50 units ever handed out to the public. It's a shame that the servers are no longer up. I used it as an alarm clock for a long time, though now it just sits in a box.

1:34 - My grandpa has this computer! I always thought it looked cool. I never knew it was low power, but I never really used it for anything power demanding. Then again, the only thing grandpa uses it for now is to play solitaire in the morning.
3:00 - Anyone remember the days when McDonalds use to have N64s in their playground areas? Or when the game sections of stores had the console demos you could play? I miss those days.
I remember a lot of these! I always wanted one of those handheld UMPCs and that ridiculous Maingear pyramid tower. It's so absurd but so cool at the same time
I love your videos man. Like damn. This is good content.
Thank you!
I want one of those PRYSMA systems. They look awesome...

Me too
+paul nash I tried to buy one on ebay and there is no results :/
Wow, I'm surprised that there isn't an Illuminati comment yet.
Is this the internet or did I get lost?
Edit: nevermind I just had to scroll down a few comments...
+paul nash I'm finding very little on the Maingear Prysma regarding the internals. Does anyone have a teardown link?
1:40
Huh. I used to have that one. Used to play Webkinz and Club Penguin on it. Good times.
I want the iMac sunflower with modern specs, I love the design.
Man, my mum still uses our iMac G4 for watching films and sometimes streaming vids from Netflix and such. Loved the computer as a kid, so many fond memories. But totally understood when we updated to the newer iMac three years later... Hey, at least I got a relatively good hand-me-down computer for school work and emulators. :P
4:40 history is repeating itself, cough* look at that Razor triple monitor laptop concept they just released in CES 2017
At least the extra screens on the Razor are usable.
I've been looking for something like that for years for use as dyno tuning laptop. And I know others in the industry would snap them up if they were say 2 screen and more industrial build quality but even as they are now they would be a great help. We all have to use 2 laptops just for screen space for running the dyno software and the tuning software simultaneously with multiple real time graphs and tables open at once in full view.
If you' say why not a normal PC? bit hard to have a desktop PC in your car with keyboard and mouse and 2 monitors while driving the car on the dyno at the same time lol. Laptops are a feasible way as you can just put it on the seat. 2 laptops are doable by putting the back rest down to make a sort of table to sit them on.
I suppose making some rig to hold a small desktop monitor and extending a laptop VGA to it would work but....
You can share the same keyboard/mouse between multiple computers with an application like Synergy. It doesn't replace having only one device with multiple screens but it is an option.
would not help with road tests but since on a dyno a car does not go anywhere, I am surprised nobody has a rig that would let you swing two LCDs in front of the windshield... combine with wireless mouse and keyboard. only way to do this afaik would be some custom fabricated swing arm with a pair of VESA mounts attached.
Kinda of defeats the purpose as nearly all new dynos have and often come with wireless option. besides having the monitors outside of the car would make it too hard to see details due to the distance, the tables cells are 1/10th the size of your typical excel cells, just so you can see the complete table which is essential. And its not just one table, you typically work with 4-6 tables on one PC alone (not to mention the other 20-30 odd available to adjust) , the other operating the dyno has a heaps of graphs and controls.
The ultimate solution is a multiple screen laptop. if only 2 screens would be suffice, 3 like the razor would be be a bonus. One screen the dyno control software, the other screen the tuning software window and the last screen a mosaic of all the used tables and histograms from the tuning software.
I wonder what the price of this razor laptop is?
This was great. Bought back many memories. Thank you.
Love your videos so much man! I would love a box opening of that Prysma. Loved the trailer as well. Realize this is an old video but for me that is a find. LGR is my TV
the weirdest computer this year is the macbook pro with touchbar
Nah, it's pretty much just a normal Macbook Pro with an OLED function key row and fewer ports/worse battery life/etc. _Much_ stranger in my opinion is the Microsoft Surface Studio, which is quite unique all-around :)
heh, im using one of those right now
Look at Razer's Project Valerie, which is a reincarnation of Lenovo's W700ds taken to a whole new level. If Project Valarie ever goes to market, it'd be a safe candidate for the weirdest laptop ever produced to date.
although project Valarie isn't going to happy anymore because Linus Sebastian stolen one of the laptops and the blueprints.
gNightrow thank you Apple should learn from Microsoft and put the Mac OS on a tablet so it can run Photoshop and have flash.
I remember being in 3rd grade when the mellenium took over. It was a huge push for everyone to embrace technology into their every day lives. Nowadays we live in a world where computers fit right in our pockets. It's truly monumental for me to see this because I still grew up in a time where cellphones were a luxury item for the rich.
« _Low power and high cost_ »
This is actually the best way to summarize Apple's history
It's funny that "Strangest Computer Designs of the 2010s" is already a possible video
I would love to have that laptop with built-in display extender. In my line of work it is quite important to hv multiple display.
I really wanted, and actually _still_ kind of want, an OQO Model 2. They pre-dated smartphones being good and accessible, and absolutely predated tablets like the Surface. So small, so portable, so _unfortunate_ they ran Vista, and, unrelatedly, the company went out of business. I really want a company to revive that form factor one day. We can't all take a laptop everywhere we go.
There are still windows handheld conputers. Google it
@@pumpedupbro4200 He literally mentioned those, and besides, the ones that are being made now aren't the same, the main differences being that they're bigger and don't have physical keyboards
It's so funny to see that Lenovo Thinkpad on this list. My sibling had one and loved it. They called it Goliath and used it essentially as a portable all-in-one desktop. Great if you needed something powerful but also you moved a lot. My sibling wrote Goliath a little send-off post on Facebook when it was time to move on. I guess even the strangest computers can have fans. :>
This channel is awesome!! Subbed!
I rather liked the IBM tower from the '90s that had a sliding cover for the ODDs.
My nursery (Daycare if your American ) had the little explorer. First games i remember playing.
Epic Username the memories come rushing back......
Cool! I have not seen most of these before. Great video!
I'd positively *LOVE* a sequel to this! Most of those _PCs_ never went for sale in The Netherlands, so this is about the only chance for me to see them. And I'd really like to see more, now that you've made me aware...
"Fully-functional Windows Vista"
There was NOTHING functional on Windows Vista...
Oh yeah, it turns on ok! xD
Always gotta be that one technically ignorant person when someone mentions Vista..
The Uncanny One Vista had a bad rap on release because it was forced out before drivers were ready.. just like Windows 10, but look at all the people actually using 10 and approving of it.
Well, it was also the first real upgrade in Windows for many years, so the hardware requirements got bumped up, which rendered people's old shitty PCs unable to run it well. This was made even worse by system manufacturers who released systems with low RAM, leading to an incredibly slow system (stock Vista needs like 1GB just for the OS to run properly, I've seen Vista systems with 512MB; it was a nightmare).
In the end, it suffered a sad fate due to people's ignorance and Microsoft jumped ship and released Windows 7; which was Vista SP3. The only real difference is that they changed the taskbar and made the UI generally worse for power users (and removed all classic features dating back to 95).. which lead to Classic Shell and 7+ Taskbar Tweaker coming out. Other than that, it is seriously just Vista with a slightly different UI skin; and it was praised by those ignorant people who condemned Vista.
And now here we are today where people are still bashing Vista despite 8 and 10 being objectively worse OS's for power users or older people who have used XP/Vista/7 for many years and can't learn an entirely new UI.
You guys are no fun. I was just wanting to make fun of something without being fair....
Serenity Vista doesn't support some programs because, huh, let's see.. it's deprecated and companies ceased supporting it years ago.
Do you even think about what you say? The fact that you think it can also only use 2GB RAM shows just how little you know about PCs.
Love that iMac design though.
Man that was a blast from the past, being a 2000s baby I love this dated design language. I remember in kindergarten we had those little tikes computers in all of the classes, I also remember seeing them in the Nashville airport. My dad had one of those weird pocket PCs, he is a higher up at Microsoft so we always had cool tech around. When he got it he also got me one of those “Windows 7 was my idea” shirts. Finally I remember one of my friends had that Disney computer, those speakers were the worst things on the planet. Thanks Clint for taking me down memory lane

Old post is old, but in case you still would like to own one: I have got one I'm willing to part with. It was fun to play with, but I don't use it anymore. The battery recently died unfortunately. But the OQO Model 02 still works well. Currently it runs Debian Linux, but I still have an image of the original Windows installation and I think I also have a CD. Comes with a belt carry pouch, the charger and a extension dongle (Ethernet, VGA port, ..).
Gotta say, the iMac G4 is my favorite computer design of all time. I recently acquired one in good working condition. Hoping to upgrade the specs and Hackintosh it in the near future.

Lazy Game Reviews It was in my dads basement, I might visit him and see if he still has it. It was blue like in the thumbnail. It has some dents, And is missing Ram and a possessor (I think).
From the late 90's to around 2008-9 my dad had a job where companies would send him new tech products to write reviews.on. Around 30% of the time the companies NEVER asked for the product back and we got to keep it. So he has has ALOT of weird tech laying around.
+O v e r T i m e Seeing the fact that it's so different from normal and that it sold so little, I'd guess that you can get a pretty damn good price for it. Especially if you can put in new RAM and a processor and make it functional again.

Ugly, over-priced machines. A practice still used by Alienware to this very day.
You mean Dell? If you shop for an Alienware computer you just get redirected to a somewhat more powerful Dell. Alienware is dead...
