14:30 I am in my first week of Algebra (or algebruh as I like to call it) 2 and your videos, along with the study resources, are helping a lot. I still don't know wtf I'm doing but I have a good feeling I will be ok. Thank you for taking the time to produce these videos. Sincerely, a computer science student. 😊

I’ve been out of school since 2011 and will be starting in about a month. Initially when I registered for classes the advisor put me in calculus, I immediately told her I wasn’t ready for that level because I’ve been so far removed from math and I knew I’d be setting myself up for failure.

I spent 12 years in public school and taught 18 years in public school in South Florida. I haven't yet met a public school math teacher that understands the math they are supposedly teaching. The only thing "taught" is memorizing formulas. I always maintained that if you understand the solution, then you don’t have to memorize formulas. The vast majority of public school teachers found it easy to memorize facts and therefore found it easy to pass the necessary courses to become teachers. These people are absolutely the worst teachers because they don’t understand why things work, and can't relate to students that aren't blessed with good memorizing abilities. As a teacher, if a student didn’t understand something, then I was the one that failed. It was my fault that the student didn’t see the solution. I taught practical Algebra, Geometry, and Trigonometry to high school graduates in a trade-school type public institution for 11 years, then was fired for not following the curriculum. In particular, I was ordered to teach Phaser Math. I refused, because it was going to waste time and resources on something that for all practical purposes is obsolete. We have calculators and computers. Nobody multiplies and divides vectors longhand, and I couldn't use it as a visualization tool, so I refused, and got fired. (I was teaching apprentice electricians.) Anyway, this is the way public school works in South Florida. Little Johnny that sits in the back and gets low grades isn't stupid, he just doesn’t memorize random, disconnected facts as easily as other kids do. He just has to understand the problem.

You stated Algebra, not math in general. Could you give some more examples? E.g is a matrix to the power of a matrix (yes it is actually defined), still algebra, where does number theory fall into, tensors, before you go to tensor analysis (I’d say this falls into calculus), set theory, etc. Not trying to troll. I did not go through the U.S. system, so I am curious about these details 😊
