Some of the best moment in the first 5 seasons of Yu gi oh are not the duels but some of the epic moments like this & the darker scenes like when Yami Marik was released & Pegasus started taking more souls.
I actually like that this character in the dub is the evil essence of Kaiba's soul that was expelled when Yugi and the Pharaoh performed a mind crush on Kaiba. Connects with the mysticism aspect of the series and makes more sense as to why this guy could pull off a somewhat decent imitation of Kaiba.
It also ups Pegasus's treat level. Him being able to use his Millennium Item to move even souls he had no interaction with, just adds to the idea the he has more experiance with these items than yugi knows. And we should be even more warry of this man. Learning that in the sub this guy was just an impersonator really killed made me like the dub changes.
One of the few times 4kids actually improved the plot, the other being when Evil Bakura wanted Mokuba's soulless body so he wouldn't be impeded by his good half

Like I know season 1 was around long before the actual card game was. But man, does it have some truly amazing moments. Yugi's message to Pegasus still sends shivers down my spine now as it did almost 20 years ago
in a lot of ways I think season 1 was better than later seasons because it was more true to the original vision of duel monsters, which was to be more of a D&D inspired card game with many different ways to play and use the cards.
Nah the moving black silhouette was perfect! It made Atem look like he was a man on a mission, like nothing could stop him. “I’m coming for you Pegasus!” Always gives me chills
You know Atem is serious when he mistakes his Blue Eyes for Exodia, and tells it to "Obliterate" instead of use "White Lightning Attack" (Burst Stream of Destruction)
Technically it replaces the name "Holy burst stream" from the japanese version. The only issue that the dub has here(I mean, outside of changing too much of the series overall, lol) is that they somehow managed to give two attacks the same name.
I love the idea of Yugi using his Millenium Puzzle to send evil spirits to the shadow realm. They should have used this way more. It actually shows some divine power that the items grant
He made a decision to stop hurting people with the power of the puzzle at the end of Duelist Kingdom. Before that he would harm people as frequently as Marik did in later seasons.
In the manga the clown is a ventriloquist who has a puppet of Seto Kaiba to get under Yugi's skin. Yugi punishes him by having the puppet come to life and attack the ventriloquist.

Atem has always been a savage. Although he shows Kaiba and Blue Eyes a lot of respect in this - “be reborn, Blue Eyes White Dragon” “this move was inspired by Seto Kaiba himself.”
What I really love is the visuals that goes along the speech. You don't have an intimidating image of Atem with a crazy monster. You just have his silhouette, the millennium puzzle and his magic powers. Man I would so pay to get a full image in 1080p for a wallpaper so badly and it doesn't seem like the res is there for an image upscaler program, maybe at a least a commission re-draw if I wanted to take that route.

The script wasn't fantastic, but the actors were top quality. Kaiba and Pegasus had a certain charm to them in terms of personality in the dub.
