I'm a Welder with a 2007 rm 250 and my first choice is always steel and I have to remind myself self that it doesn't always have to be that way. I love your idea and it's cheaper ,cleaner and lighter great video thanks a bunch
Thanks for posting. You may’ve just saved my girlfriend and me over $200 bucks for something we won’t use nearly as often as you do. We just wanna be protected on less maintained roads on an extended trip, so this is genius for us. Thanks.
I did this same exact thing for my old RM 250. I also used a few pieces that I ripped down on table saw and router for replacement chain slide on my quad skid plate.

I'm looking to make a skid plate for a Suzuki DL650, to ride on forest roads etc. I just don't feel like spending $150 to protect my engine and oil filter if I can make it cheaper. I like the idea, I am seriously considering this as an option.
Hey man, I'm planning on doing the same. I have some CAD plans I found on Stromtooper if you want them. I also have a SketchUp file I created based on the plans. Planning on making one in the coming weeks and making a video of it.
Nice plate. Looks almost stock. I might try this myself with an old cutting board. Plus, with the scratches you get from rocks you can always try to melt the surface smooth with a torch, heat gun, or even a candle.

For 6 bucks?!?! there is no way anyone can criticize your idea! Great video, I'm going to try the same thing!

You want to know what I think? I think you thought outside the box and it really panned out well. Good job!

How’s the material holding up to heat? What kind of clearance is a must
Guess who has to go to Walmart today.
I'm going to try this and put it on my CRF150L. Thanks for the video.
your ingenuity is awesome, great job.
Nice job 👍
I like that.. right on🎉
Hey Mike. How's your skid plate holding up? I made one today but it shattered in the trail. I guess it could have been worse without it though.

you can also sand them it wont gouge just scratch like a knife
Heck yeah !! Cheers !
such a great idea :D
What size board did you get, I have been looking for a plate for my 96 RM 125 and it's harder to locate than Jimmy Hoffa.
Sheet of HDPE from a plastics shop, or offcut from a manufacturer. i got a full sheet (2.4m x 1.6m) for pretty cheap
adding one to my bike. thanks. could paint it up to match the bike.
Nice. Did you test it on some rocky trail yet?
hendragster I race the NETRA circuit so its seen plenty of abuse still held up!
Mike John nice!
I can't find and paste for mine BC is a old 1992 kx125 but just found it how to make one
How does it hold up on your outings? I'm wondering how strong / protective it is
2 years and never broke
Is it attached in the rear?
broadwayFan28 There are clips that attach it to the side frame rails
Is that a bread board
yes it's a 6 dollar cutting board from Walmart
Anyone got any ideas for hardware?
