Have been using the MW65 since July. As much as I loved the value proposition of this board, it really had some QC issues. For example, the top right portion of the plate didn't have enough cutout to place the knob. Then the bottom Acrylic didn't have two screw holes. Plus the VIA was bugged. Plus building it was a bit of a pain in the a s s. But AFAIK, u can also use a KBD67 lite case instead of the acrylic one. I got a hold of the B stock case for less than 30 USD with shipping which itself is cheaper than the stock case. The seller some months back told me that he is gonna release a FR4 plate version of this board. The best part of this kit is that it produces a great clack which I like a lot TBH.

I've decided that I want to go back to that feel after years of cheap corporate membranes. I thought, "Well, let's just go and get a 'proper' keyboard!". Turns out I am well behind the drag curve here and have much to learn. So I started with a few youtube searches and found myself in the middle of some kind of troll battle between different switch evangelists. Takes me back to the Emacs and Vi wars. Heady days, wiping blood off the corner of your keyboard and picking eyeballs out of your sandles. I was briefly a front line soldier in the Linux v Windows crusades, a phirric victory for we penguins untimately. However, I now know what I want and I am smart enough to know that I'm not going to broadcast my choice (ISO, full size, Cherry MX Blue, no RGB) and risk the ire of the trolls. You have taught me that the choices are personal and nothing is right (except Browns are appropriately coloured). Peace and goodwill, I've subscribed!

Man I really don't want to make light of your pain, but this video made my day. edit: Just wanted to say that I've come to expect the best from any video that has you taping yourself into a chair.
I think you could have desoldered the hot swap sockets and then put one switch in (still with the plate) and solder ist directly in. Then you would take another switch and do the exact same thing again and then again and so on until every switch is in. By that, the switches were secured on the pcb, the plate would be still there to mount everything into the case and it would be allright, since the switches can't go through the plate downwards, so the pcb and the switches would actually be hanging at the plate, like normal. And i'm sure you would have won, if your keyboard had been fully built.
at 0:51 I felt like i was about to be chokeslammed for my love of loud and annoying clicky switches by Glarses, who somehow turned into a resident evil boss

Akko CS switches, at least the Matcha Greens in my experience feel a hair bigger than other switches, so they usually fit the plate tightly. Just thought I'd leave this here because it might be useful to someone dealing with plates of questionable precision. Don't know if that would have helped with Glarses' 'handling the flexible plate vertically over an ironing board' choice of technique for this build. 😅
@@clarencelee6709 l didn't mean to imply anything like that. I think Lewis' video of this series would be more informative. He's also using the same kit, but his technique is different, as in a different order of building. It seems the PCB might also have minor concerns.

It looks like the plate was wavy while you put the switches in. Like the scale was off or an accumulated error if someone designed it with all the short dimensions instead of the longest dimensions and dividing it up evenly. So while a few switches would go in when you tried to go the length of the board it would bunch up the plate which would eject the switches from the pcb.
