This is the slowest vehicle I've ever driven. Okay, I'll admit I could've held onto 4th gear a few breaths longer, but we're missing the point either way. This Hijet "Super Jumbo" is an epic Kei truck built for STYLE. Oh, and practicality and efficiency too of course. Enjoy.

I asked for a 10 second car, not a 10 minute car.
You could push it across the finish like… or tow it
Atleast this isn't a 10 hour car. Or a 10 day....
One day I'll have to own one, these little things are incredible.
Nice super Jumbo! Three months after I bought it, the ship just dropped my 1996 4WD Hijet in the US and I'm finalizing plans to pick it up in a couple of days (20 hour round trip with a flatbed trailer). I'm looking forward to doing some mods to make her mine.
Oh wow I royally messed up the timer and didn't notice on the final export :/ I promise you it was 42 seconds haha, can time yourself :)
It's not always about power not everyone understands that
Finally another super jumbo. I love mine
Wow! Awesome. I want to have such a vehicle in my garage
Used to think I'd end up buying a Kei truck first, because I think they're weird and awesome etc. However, with all the Kei scapegoating in the US, and my current need for something to haul other vehicles, think I'll settle for a used Isuzu NPR rollback and go the dekotora route with it instead ~
Trial Mountain and a hotted up Daihatsu Midget are what dreams are made of.

Oh, that looks so sweet
That’s a sweet friggin mullet. A Majestic whistler waterfall.
Love Toyota "Daihatsu" Quality. These are sweet machines. ENJOY 😊
This was built before toyota took control of daihatsu
maybe not...there is one jumbo super for sale, 1997 model ( only one out of 8 hundred and 60! ). It has a cassette deck branded TOYOTA...they may or may not have had a controlling stake in Daihatsu...( P.S. Daihatsu have been hit by a crippling scandal: the shurking of safety standards/checks @@yamkaw346
Forget the stopwatch, bring a calendar!
I'm not sure why I love this truck, but I do.
because it looks cute? 😊
Love it
I'm curious of tire size? Was hoping he would say what he runs. I'm thinking of putting 14's on mine. Only 14 I can find are 14x7 and I think I need thinner wheels. Mine are 13x4 right now. I have a Daihatsu Atrai (micro van). Fundding tires for 13's that aren't trailer tiers is about impossible. I have mud terrains on it that looks really cool.
Where did you buy that rain visor?😊
I have a little 2.1m plastic boat (weights 30kg, 1.5m wide). I'm thinking this would be ideal for that?
12:34 this is the funniest thing about the video for me " so that's 4WD.."
that button is the funkiest thing! I wish you had showed it and the dash close-ups...IMO, the only thing that beats that button is :
a dash organ push/pull choke lever! ( Mazda Porter truck circa 1980...)
Oh, and it is important to visualize the narrow country roads and mountain passes in Japan THAT is were you want to drive the thing...maybe Chilliwak or road to Whistler...
Multicab are very popular in the Philippines.
I want one fr
Wow
How can I import one of those? Serious question.
0 to 60 can be measured using a calendar!! Still a cool little ride, though.
Most newer kei trucks do 0-60 in around the same time as a cheap economy car from maybe let's say mid 2000s which is okay. These older ones maybe... 0-60 in never to maybe 30 seconds depending on the kei truck you have. Their low speed accelerations are fine for city use or dirt use though, which is where you should use them more.... Doing highway with kei cars in general especially older ones with lower power is like asking a wide thick supercar to fit into a tiny cramped old garage that maybe can only fit two bikes because your neighbor can fit his narrow small Smart in it. You can fit your supercar in.... Very very barely.
needs a big ass wing, with paddle board tie downs.👍
+1 for the paddle board tie downs. +2 for surfboard tie downs
He's like a nice Kenny Powers
What was the music at the 6:40
I want a Mitsubishi mini truck as a addition to my lancer.
Just whack the daihatsu 660cc turbo engine(EF-DET) in,which is double the hp and almost double the torque, you get yourself one hella fun k-truck.
As much fun as a lazy underpowered engine is for the laughs, it needs a turbo. Yes.
The turbo has less than 20 additional horsepower.
Little light truck
R U guys in the Okanagan?
We were for this particular drive
I have a couple big question I would really like to know because I am looking in to getting one, but how reliable are the engines? Do there cars last for a long time? Can they take a lot of miles?
The Daihatsu is made by Toyota. Engines are 3 cyl. Side draft 48hp. They are indestructible long lasting Kei trucks. Once you have one you'll love it.
Be sure to change the timing belt every 100,000 km or 15 years and replace the water pump at the same time., and regular oil changed of course.
Have you copied the body kit yet I would love to have one
Get a EF-VET and swap that. Its pretty much plug and play. You'll have a lot more fun w/it.
I got mine which has 3g83 engine 660cc can be able to swap with the one you talking bout?
@@garethntakwile well, technically you can swap anything, however the one Im talking about its pretty much plug and play for the Hijets.
double cab is essential for reclining...if you drive for more than a few hours...i don't care how tall or small you are. These SuperJumbos are exceedingly rare for sure! There is ONE right now for 4 grand ( CAD ) ouch! These mini-trucks need a roll bar installed behind the seats and the back removed ( so you can recline....)
4k CAD is cheap as hell. I would actually buy that right now if I could bring it to the U.S.
Are all BC delivery drivers that cute ?
that's a funny comment about sleeping in the back....you could TRY to sleep in the bed...
Well all you need to decimate all is $15,000 grand.
Hayabusa swap!
Sounds about right...
Unsubscribed.
Ohh no!! Now no one can sleep at night 😪
Good thing you told us I was worried
