kinda late but this variation almost broke me in half, whole upper body engagement is awesome unlike the regular DBs. gives you so much workout in a short amount of time. hopefully I can switch all of my bss sets to zercher variation by end of feb. thanks for this hidden gem!
Hey Brian Thanks for this new exercise. I do zercher squats and splits squats but never taught of this exercise. Glad to be your subscriber. Please keep on putting exercises like these for grappling strength and strength in general. Thanks from india
I love these (as much as it's possible to love a Bulgarian split squat, anyway). They are actually my favorite way of doing a Bulgarian split squat now. I started doing them after I injured my shoulder. Holding the bar on the back was a bit uncomfortable and with dumbbells the grip would give out long before the quad/glutes, so I just started improvising with these.
Same easy to balance, can use a barbell. I find dumbbells the hardest to balance, back loading is also hard to balance and shifts the emphasis from the glutes a bit more. Smith machine is alright but its a smith machine so its awkward.
I been doing these for months. Training at home by myself without dumbbells or a squat rack makes back loaded BSS sketchy. These are much safer for home gym guys trainings alone.
I figured out that front loaded bulgarians are amazing a long time ago. Took this video to realize doing zercher instead of front squat makes it way easier to focus on the movement instead of not dying. 10/10 would recommend this lift to anyone with legs.
Coach you totally stole this from me! I was just telling my wife about these with the Bandbell Earthquake bar, and then. I open UA-cam and see this! Great exercise.
This is probably a stupid comment, but with some of these exercise run downs, the best way, or the way you approach getting into the position for the exercise would help. Especially with forms of Bulgarian split squats every way I try to set up feels silly, wrong, and maybe even a little unsafe. Maybe that's the nature of it but maybe I'm doing my set up foolishly.
Hey Brian!!!, you mentioned lifting heavy things like they’re light(i.e fast) , but when you’re lifting light things like they’re heavy, what does that mean? I have always assumed that it’s supposed to be fast but a bird has made me question it lately and I’m having doubts. Hope your keep going up, physically, spiritually, emotionally and in all aspects of life😊.

Thanks man, it’s 1st Phorm.com/neversate to get to my site and then you just order from there. Unfortunately, they do not do coupon codes but I truly do appreciate the support brother
@@BrianAlsruheOfficial honestly not sure, I know he’s done some seriously heavy stuff on both zercher lifts and Bulgarian split squats in the past, so it was more that I could just imagine him loading up some dumbly heavy weight, acting like a psycho and maxing out on a lift like this haha
Zercher everything
And then some
Zercher squats and other Zercher lifts are SO UNDERRATED 💪
Lots of truth in this statement
I can't ever think of zerchers without also thinking of Eric Bugenhagen. That man is mindset incarnate.
I’ve never watched any of his stuff, but I’ve heard good things
There really is something crazy about you. You figure out how to make everything better! You rock Brian.
I wish I could take credit for this, but I got this idea from a guy named Brandon Morgan
@@BrianAlsruheOfficial you are a stand up guy! Thanks for sharing the wisdom.

You got it brother and thank you for watching the videos!
Zercher Bench Press are pretty dope too!!
Ha
Great idea Brian! I’m going to use it as a variation tomorrow when I try to survive to your massbuilder program!!!
I hope it goes great for you and thank you so much for the support and!
My balance suffers when I train in glass stripper heels. Stay well Uncle Brian.
We both know that’s not true

my main squat right now, thanks Brian
Can't wait to give this a go!
I hope you like it

I actually got this from Brandon Morgan from kabuki strength
Zercher is life😎
I’m beginning to feel that way
Awesome Brian!
Thank you, Matthew!
That looks like a spicy slice of he'll......and I can't wait to try it!!!!
I think you will be pleasantly surprised my friend
Trying this today
I hope you like it!

That’s all covered in the basic Bulgarian split squat video that I linked to this one
Just tried these! Fucking brutal 🤘. Ran them for 4x5 after my dynamic effort squats on your strongman program you made for Alan Thrall’s channel
That is awesome. I’m so glad you like them.
Looks like a very useful and relateable-to-everyday-life type exercise!
He definitely is and I hope it helps
Seems worth trying.
Definitely give it a shot my friend
I usually lift barefoot but I'm going to buy a pair of those shoes and give that movement a try
I am a bear foot lift as well. These are the only shoes that I lift in currently.

I mean, try to recruit all of the muscle fibers you can by moving the weight explosively
What did you hear that contradicts this? I just heard it confirmed again yesterday
@@BrianAlsruheOfficial thank you for the response brother, appreciate it champ!

Hallo Brian.
I do Bulgarian Split Squats every week - love them.
Have you tried them with the BB in the Front Rack position yet?
I have. And I like them a lot, but I actually prefer the Zercher position a little bit more.
Are there any plans for any new merchandise?
There are plans, I just haven’t been able to get an artist to fit whats in my head
Brian, could you provide your 1st Phorm code again? Not worried about a discount just looking to show you some support.

Does he do these? I don’t think I’ve ever seen him doing them

My bicep tendon is healing so I won’t try this soon. Maybe in a few months. Looks horrible to do, in the best way.
Definitely give them a shot when you’re healthy brother
