La Dispute - August 2012 - Violitionist Sessions from Denton, Texas
Recorded, mixed and mastered by Michael Briggs at Civil Audio michaelbriggs.io
This is better than it is on the album.
Dalton Forrest Gaming I won't listen to it any other way 😊
Really? I’d agree if you guys were talking about the version in the church.
Waaaaay better.. this is the only version I like.. well love.
I totally agree tbh I already go to this version
Yeah this version's audio quality, progression, delivery, energy; really one of their top tier live sets on the site.
Filmed at my grandma Elsa`s house. Thats what talent looks like. Support this
band!!!!
There is something special about this music. No other band unlocks my heart the same way they do. My emotions just poor out of me with no control and I end up sitting on my couch for hours binging on La Dispute on some kind of emotional closure trip.
True. Their sincerity to the authentic experience and true love/emotions is what I find ultimately the most attractive about this band. I always feel a certain closeness or attachment to their songs. I think, as you said, their willingness to share their honesty in such a way, creates this spiritual bond with the song. Like a friend that can support you or a person that challenges you in life. It really boosts the authentic experience. I can bet everyone who is into La Dispute have something in their life that they can attach to every song. And it starts as a song with a meaning and a concept but then transforms into this thing that amplifies your own experiences in life. Truly a beautiful gift they have given us.
How to express 'youth' with a song of just two minutes. Electrifying..
I can never get enough of this performance, LD is one of a kind 👌
amazing how when i first listened to this many years ago it had a feeling of nostalgia about it and now 9 years later that nostalgia makes sense
Pure poetry.
It's such a nice feeling to listen to this song years later still love it so much 💔
I lost one of my best friends & a lover yesterday. This song reminds me so much of her. It’ll be on repeat for years to come. I love you Katie, you beautiful disaster.
words can't describe how much i love this band
Same here. Their words are so powerful- I can't get over it
You don't find bands like this everywhere, La Dispute is unique
you know a video is good when you have no words to describe it
This one of the purist forms of music...he speaking from his soul...look at his face he is not here..he gone in his music and doesn't care what anybody else thinks... he is in love with his music and it takes someone talented to get lost in their own songs, spectacular song as always la dispute BRAVO
La Dispute has been, and will always be my absolute favorite band.
Did you make it through the pandemic my friend? :/
@@SanguineThor 7 years later, damn, still kicking, although contrary to OP, La Dispute is no longer my favorite band. Thanks for checking in pal
My love for them is endless.
I recall once on the church steps
When I moved to kiss your chest
How we paid such close attention
To each sweet and stuttered breath
I should've stopped to paint our picture
Captured honest pure affection
Just to document the difference between attraction and connection
I can see all of my friends and
I break into empty buildings
When the coast was clear
With backpacks full of beer
We’d throw our bottles from the rooftops
At this city-it looked endless
Guess I still don’t see the difference between real purpose and that urgent adolescence
And I remember in a basement sharing sweat
With all these stranger boys and girls
“We’ll change the world!” We sang
“We’ll change the world!” But
Nothing seems to change and
They say none of them will listen
But I still see much more power in that basement than in worthless politicians
And if we get beaten by this winter
If we get strangled by regret, just
Let our love of life and tension
Gasp in sweet and stuttered breaths, and
Have them lay us in a basement
Smash some bottles on the ground, and
Say we never knew the difference between the feeling and the sound
Remember not our faulty pieces
Remember not our rusted parts
It’s not the petty imperfections that define us but
The way we hold our hearts
And the way we hold our heads
I hope they write your names beside mine on my gravestone when I'm dead
And when we’re dead let our voices carry on
To find a better song
To find a better song and sing along, sing along, sing along..
a few days ago i read the describtion of a la dispute king park cover, it said:
"la dispute is a genre-defying, living and breathin work of art and passion"
this is so true!! this words come pretty close, but i'm still not sure if i'm able to express my love and devotion for them in words....
Felix Breitking they aren't genre defying, lol
they're post-hardcore, REALLY GOOD post-hardcore
ShadicoTheHedgehog They're not really post-hardcore anymore though.
i'd wager that they most certainly are, but their hardcore influences are more masked by their musical evolution and influences - thus, POST-hardcore. touche amore is also a post-hardcore band, but they're more of a post-HARDCORE band. does that makes sense?
+ShadicoTheHedgehog I don't classify them as anything man, they are a work of art, they have their own style
I think I didn't express my devotion for this band with words, but with a tattoo :)
i love when fucking awkward as hell people get famous and every time you see them perform its like watching someone come to life :)
This is now even more nostalgic 8 years later.
Words cannot express how much I love this song
This song needs be longer. 10 minutes longer. In fact it shouldn't end, ever.
Finding clips like these while going through La Dispute videos late at night is nothing short of a treasure. This is one of my favorite songs by them, and this performance is absolutely fucking flawless.
I've had such a bad day.. until I turned this on and up.. I feel better now :)
This song gives me goose bumps. I cant get enough!! They break my heart.every.time.
goosebumps every time i hear it.
thats my life theme song.
Remember not our faulty pieces,
Remember not our rusted parts,
It's not the petty imperfections that define us but
The way we hold our hearts,
And the way we hold our heads.
I've been looking for this song for so long!!
Music is the only art you see better with your eyes closed.
La dispute
First time I'm actually seeing their faces
It's amazing how much emotion Jordan's voice can carry
weird i just seen Jordan at Ryan and heart the other day in Grand Rapids MI, Always remember the good ol days. the days at the Daac, the days at Skeletones, the days in those basments where you moved to much you hit your head or arms on something, im so proud to say im from Grand rapids where these guys left from. Keep up the good work guys.
I watch this like every day and will never get tired of it 😍
jordan has so much emotion and feeling in his voice, it's really incredible.
I have searched every version of this song i have learnt all the lyrics i have been listening to this more than 100 times
I just love this masterpiece so much i cannot describe
Its there both at bad and good times and i will never forget how much you guys helped me with all your songs and this even more
Thank you.
What an amazing group. Heard them on spotify and fell in love. The build up, the incredible lyrics, just amazing music. Lead singers voice couldn't be more perfect for this music as well. Kind of how (again, not a names guy) the lead singer of bright eyes fits his music perfect. Not comparing the two.
This....This is so honest and pure; my afflictions they give way to yours.
fucking amazing how these guys find a way in every song to connect with you
Amazing song and performance. I've been listening to this song multiple times a day and still amazes me each time. It's first thing I do when I get to work to start my day,
One of those times where i'm just sitting here lost for words. I really wish they'd tour canada more :/
There's something incredible and inspiring about seeing that they're just normal people, with keyboards and amps in the corner, just making a song that means something to them.
Words can't describe the amount of love I have for their songs. Just simply amazing!
I had to think hard cause this version of this song popped into my head today and I forgot how much I loved this kind of music... ♥️
La Dispute is so poetic and unique. I love it.
this song makes me cry every time
Best of the EP's.
There literally aren't enough words to explain how perfect this.
I saw them live once not too long ago for the first time. It was honestly like.. almost an out of body experience? It was beautiful.
Incredible composition, melody, lyrics, presentation. These guys just have so much soul.I can't get over it.
I love the emotion emitted in the vocals
when he sang "but nothing seems to change" my heart stopped for a moment
how can they make every single fucking song they make so flawless ?
I'm beyond excited that i get to see these guys in July and interview them for my documentary..
this the shit I likeeeeeeeeee
you can see how much this song and these words mean to him...
I never get sick of listening to this.
Cannot wait to see them in March OMFG
I can't get enough of this song its just soooooo amazing everything about it. He is a true poet, I love all his music. This song is just so well done in my opinion
on repeat and repeat and repeat again
ugh they make my heart feel so good
screaming poetry just gives a different vibe, perfect song

this song gives me shivers
so poetic, so beautiful
I just can't get enough of this song
This is beyond words.
oh my god i love this
This is one of my favorite songs by them.
The word "perfection" doesn't do this justice.
I guess I still don't see the difference between real purpose and that urgent adolescence.
That line sums up life for me.
I can listen to this song on repeat forever
The best version of this song. Oh my gosh How Much I Love it!
As long as I have this band, I think i'll be fine.
People really should find you guys again
the only band who's an aperture of pure emotion.
Always chokes me up
Brother, Sister is my favorite album by them. Really anything off of that is great. A to B Life (their first album) is probably the closest to La Dispute. Nice and Blue, Gentlemen, and Bullet to Binary are some of my favorites off that one. Catch For Us the Foxes is also great, January 1979, Disaster Tourism, and Four Word Letter are super from that release.
I feel like half of the views on this video are of me just replaying, and replaying it.
Or "Lifestory:Monologue", they're a band from Guelph, Ontario and they're breaking up but they still deserve some love.
way more better than every other version
Beautiful.
AMAZING song !!! reminds me of so many things......
“We’ll change the world!” We sang, “We’ll change the world!” but, nothing seems to change and they say none of them will listen, but I still see much more power in that basement than in elected politicians.
Absolutely love this
This song is sooo good. La Dispute
Almost forgot to listen to this today
pls dont ever delete this
They've released three EP's now that are part of the "Here, Hear" experiment where they put music to certain poems. Most of them are well known poems, but they've written a few of their own as well. There's four songs on each EP, and they're simply titled starting at "One" going up to "Twelve" so far.
I've never experienced anything like la dispute. Amazing.
This band > everything
so beautiful
still one of the best live performances ever
great song, listen to it once a day
Wow! Really happy I stumbled upon this video. Beautiful.
So many replays.
wow, his anxiety in the way he sings make me fawn over him. What a dreamboat band!
i can't believe they shot this in my town
Just the power in Jordan's voice in this version compared to the recorded one makes the whole difference for me. Passion>
I'm right there with you.
This is really great.
I hope they write your names beside mine on my gravestone when I'm dead.
Gets me every time.
