- Monthly test of the Milwaukee County tornado siren system. This P-50 is located on top of the Milwaukee County Courthouse in downtown. This was the first siren I recorded back in July of 2015, and I figured I needed to get a video of it with my Vixia, and with a tripod. I, however, was almost 1500 feet away on top of a different parking garage. The garage is on 9th and Juneau, and the 8th floor overlooks the entire city. I found this spot last month and where the siren itself was completely unobstructed so I figured I had to film from there. Due to being this far away, I had my camera zoomed in all the way hense the shakiness, and sound delays. Milwaukee County tests their sirens for a 1 minute alert and 4 cycles of attack on the 2nd Wednesday of every month at Noon. (Weather Permitting)
This siren was installed in 1985, as a direct replacement for a Mobil Directo. The damn thing had to be lifted onto the roof via helicopter.
Gee thanks I fell back asleep and a few minutes later I heard my P-50 going I didnt have time to record so I just rushed outside just to hear it
Beautiful echoes...
This is awesome
Personally I like the delay and reverb!
Hyaa elementa was somewhere around here as well.
DAT ECHO THO
Nice sound
That's no siren. That's a giant bucket
A Tornado Siren Madness reference!! XD
Well, I adore this giant bucket for a siren! 😆
Thinking about recording this next Wednesday
👍
Great video and echos! If you go to Schaumburg next month, what siren do you have in mind.... a P-50, a P-10/P-15, or an RM-130? Especially because it is not tornado season, some towns may be considerate of people staying up late on New Years Eve that have a tornado siren right next to their home; they may not test them. Other towns may still test them; I can understand either decision.
Not doing Schaumburg, Streamwood, nor Bartlett tommorow. I'm going to a Whelen. As for January, I dont even know if I'll even go.
WI Sirens And Elevators I look forward to seeing whatever Whelen you film.
R.i.p whelen 4004 and whelen hornet
