Great video. I think the reason why Hurricanes weren't made as much is because Federal said that this is too similar to our Thunderbolt. But then again Federal's 508 is just like ASC's T-128. So really they're just making similar sirens for competition
The hurricanes weren't made so much because they were basically a direct rip off of the thunderbolt... But not particularly an improvement. Now hear me out before anyone gives me crap for this: The hurricane takes a CRAP ton of power. And while die hard hurricane fans are going to say "These sirens are louder than any thunderbolt ever" that's actually not true. The dual tone thunderbolts are all quieter with any blower configuration (I'm pretty sure) and the single tone 4M and I think 6M are quieter as well... But despite a few opinions I can tell you the 5M does affect the single tone head and yes the 5M single tone bolt I would say is louder than this. Not by much but certainly louder. The thunderbolt configurations that are quieter are only by a little bit anyway. So using the less power that they use was a big selling point but thats not all! With a thunderbolt you can adjust the pitch to match your needs. A hurricane you have to play with different choppers and each one that you replace you have to remove the entire head. Rotator broke? On a thunderbolt you climb up, unscrew 4 screws and do your work. Hurricane you have to disassemble the entire thing and try to do it there. Chopper broke? Thunderbolt you unscrew the horn where the port is, take the chopper cap off pull the motor, pull the chopper put a new one in and set it all back. Guess what you have to do with a hurricane? Hurricanes are beautiful sirens. They're rare and all that... But thunderbolts are the better siren in both practicality and functionality. Also note too: Thunderbolts are MUCH more directional though.
Also I've heard some Hurricanes weren't too reliable. I think it's this unit that has a problem with the blower leaking oil and eventually burning up. Speaking of Blowers the Thunderbolt is still able to put out an ok amount of coverage with a dead blower but the Hurricane sadly isn't. Did I mention the 4/5 port model 1000T sounds almost identical to the Hurricane (the port ratios are the same. 8/10 simplifies to 4/5) and let's not mention the 1003 which is the siren everybody goes nuts about
Epic! Sound wise it's like a cross between a P50 and a Tbolt but if I remember right I think I read somewhere that ACA based the Hurricane on the Tbolt? Apologies if I've got that wrong 😆
No it don't cause the hurricane is dual tone while the silent hill siren is single tone like the STL-10 but it has 7 poet while the movie siren is 8 port
@@mitzyy7if you mean the Edmonton rail yard, indeed yes there are a few, I was pleasantly surprised to see them there, I wonder what they are used for, maybe chemical spills?
the hurricane has such an odd sound to it..the attack signal sounds amazing. wish more of these were around
There is one word to describe this siren: RARE
Faulty
Dead
@@RailBrothersProductions nope
Another one. EPIC
Unreliable

@@N617A the hurricane is actually more directional, it’s basically a trumpet on a pole.
@@dank980 even the mark 2? I guess that makes sense considering how thin the throat of the horn is.
@@N617A the mk1/130 was really poorly designed. the mk2 is much better, but still unreliable.
What a beautiful siren .
This thing spins up so fast
What the hell happened to it at 2:40?
it was doing a diffrent tone
how loud is this type of siren from 100 ft? at 3:02 what the heck is that funny sound lol
It is 130dB @100ft

They built the hurricane to compete with the thunderbolt.
I’d say like a cross between an asc-c125 cyclone and a om 120
I wish asc would make a hurricane. That would be awesome
I think Ramfett recorded this one a while ago
yep
4:39 is that box the blower or the control box?
Since it has a massive pipe going up the pole, I'd assume the blower.
@Timofey Kozyrev I realize that now. Three years ago I was very new to sirens. Thanks for the help though.
I wanna go to Milwaukee so I can get there b&n mobil directo
It isn't for sale it is on display.

I wish the Whelen WPS 3016 I'm living next to was replaced by this rare siren.
WOOHOO!!!
i love this siren my favorite sirej
Siren: *Silent* Thats my thought of this siren as a failure unit.
lol
it sounds like an old bag pipe

i have been in a hurricane before and there was no warning
FaZe UP *this siren is called ACA hurricane not siren during hurricane*
sirene test??
you don't see these in Canada :D
you dont even see tbolts in canada...
JCRGH Yes you do. I saw 4-5 SD-10's along a rail road track, and I believe I saw 1 STH-10.
